Adiahabasi: Hi everyone, pls hw much is d maximum one can withdraw from an ATM in UK using a Nigerian Master card, first bank to be precise.
The maximum you can withdraw with a Mastercard in a day(first bank or others) is 1000GBP they'll charge you 4GBP for the withdrawal in addition to your standard ATM charges from your issuer, Now,my advice based on personal experience, instead of using a cash machine, just buy what you want in a store and pay with d mastercard, its easy and there are no charges,if you need cash, simply ask them for 'cash back' they will give you the cash you need and add it to your purchases and debit you for the total amount. No charges, fast easy and convenient.

Nbogu: Dear Penfold,

I think supporting evidence can be sent alongside a review request. The reason is that it was stated on the refusal later. This is what the ECO stated: Please consider carefully before requesting a review. You should not send any supporting evidence, unless specifically requested by the administrative reviewer or if you have been refused under paragraph 320(7A) or (7B) of the immigration rules. According to the ECO, our refusals were based on paragraph 320(7A).

With the above explanation, do you still think that I cannot request for a review with surporting evidence?
Hope to hear from you
So sorry, I've been house hunting since morning coupled with enrolment and this annoying non stop rain.....
Well, based on what you said they wrote there,go for the review, with an explanatory note and if possible a written response from your school that they can still take you despite the late resumption date....and continue to be prayerful!

Nbogu: Dear charles,

I come to you this morning with a heavy heart. I and my spouse were unexpectedly refused to board on arrival to lagos airport on the 20th. The reason being that I told the air flight agent that I was pregnant. He did not really have problem with that because I was about 5 months pregnant, it was the British high commission representative at the airport that started making phone calls about our case. She later told us that we can not fly until we go to British High Commission to have a talk with them. We quickly went there. But the outcome was heartbreaking as our visas were revoked on the ground that I did not mention it in my application form that I was pregnant, that my course started since 13th but I intentionally did not travel till 20th therefore, I am not a genuine student and that my aim was to go and give birth in the uk and recourse to public fund not to study.

Regarding my spouse, they said he did not mention in his form that his wife was pregnant. They called our offence false representation. And that our refusal was based on paragraph 320 (7A).

We did not intend to do all that, we did not see any need to mention that I was pregnant as there was no question in that regards on the application forms. I feel so down. I don't know if I should request an administrative review.

Again, I don't know if this will affect my future applications.

Please tell me what this might mean to me now and my future travel plans. Advice me on what to do to come out of this mess. I need you and any one that can help on this forum more than ever.

God bless you
This is really really sad, its more heartbreaking because this could have been avoided, I remember that we had discussed this extensively in pages 58-59 of this thread, and because of the several insightful comments and contributions, that particular application was successful, the applicant was even like 7 months pregnanat, like I said earlier, when dealing with the UKBA, honesty is always the best policy. That said, I think what you can do is to contact your school, it will help if your school has a rep in nigeria, if you have paid your full tution, that should help too, inform your school especially your course leader of the true situation of things, if they are still willing to take you and can extend your resumption date and can indicate that in their response, you should just make a fresh appllication, this time around with a covering note explaining your situation and officially informing them that you are pregnant. I dont think a review will work because in a review, you cannot include any other document, not even a note to explain anything, the review will be based on the same documents you submitted, and remember that your case would have been flagged, so if it is reviewed a thousand times, they will still be of the same opinion cuz the rules dont allow you to explain anything, meanwhile, if you make a fresh application, you will have the chance to explain yourself. Just remain prayerful!!!

@justwise,
Just an update, and maybe this might help someone, especially the person whose children were not given a Visa.
Concerning the question I asked about a pregnant Tier 4 applicant, Well, She stated in her application that she was pregnant, and her husband applied with her (he changed his mind after much persuasion). She was phoned from the British High Commission after the 9th day or thereabouts and she was asked her course details, and also asked to confirm how much she had paid for tuiton. Then she was asked how many weeks pregnant she was, and how she intended to cope with academics and pregnancy. They also asked if she was aware that they would not grant her baby (when the baby is born) permission to stay in the UK unless she can prove that her husband was with her in the UK, in addition to the funds for maintenance that would be required (and I think this is very strange and unusual by the way) she answered all their questions. Well, both she and her husband were granted the visa and they came into the UK this morning.
So one should just be as truthful as possible when applying for entry clearance in addition to reading all their guidelines and complying with them.

Dharkchild: Hi guys, I arrived Sheffield today. it was a very smooth flight. Lagos to Schiphol (Amsterdam) to Manchester then a bus a school arranged coach picked me up from Manchester to Sheffield. I called my Landlord and met him at the apartment. it was cooler than expected, thank God i booked arranged. The people are really nice if you are a friendly person yourself.

Immigration: Just collected my landing card, asked for school and course, thats all. they didnt even ask for any document

Weather: its was 12 degrees today, too cold for me, tho people are saying its not yet cold. I hope to acclamatise soon sha.

i was also favored, i met some salford babes (Nigerians) at Manchester airport who gave me a Lebara sim card with 5pounds credit free, they said they just wanted to welcome me.

In all, its been good so far. Thanks to all, and Justwise you've been of tremendous help God bless you.

@Don, congrats on ur safe landing
Congrats !
Sheffield cold huhhuh??
Wow,thats kinda scary o,I shld be in london by monday, there are some family obligations I have to fulfil before coming to Sheffield so I should be in sheffield by Thursday/Friday,which area is ur accomodation,is it furnished, with internet and bills...also is it worth it coming to sheffield with a car (as par distances) or does it make more sense to depend on the public transportation?

2. Documents stated in CAS: Degree cert and ielts trf
3. 7200 in personal bank statement: had lil less than 7200 before 1st august but got total 7200 on 1st and I printed out on 3rd( stamp date was 3rd sept), tho last transaction registered 29th august. Main depositors were my mum and dad but my aunt (diff surname) paid in 400k (after I alrdy had my balance)
4. Mail correspondence between me and the school asking for extension.
5. Oanda conversion print-out for 3rd sept
6. I had paid full school fees and it was stated in cas.

Did I miss anything out pls?

Charles. E:
Lest you forget, many who go to the UK as students, also have a clear plan to be FULL TIME students and have no plans for any job to act as back-up. Thank you.
Couldn't have said it better!!!

Estico: It is 4am and I'm still awake. I worry so much because I am still waiting for the outcome of my application. I applied on the 28th of August and also for my 2kids. I was told by the school that their application will be refused unless I have the sole responsibility for their upbringing. I didn't know this before applying. However my daughter is only 2yrs while my son is 4months old. I can leave my daughter behind but have been worried as regards leaving my son. My hubby doesn't reside in Naija.
Is it likely that their application will affect mine?
Is it possible that they can consider my 4months old baby?
I am so happy for all of you who have gotten their entry clearance. As for me, the international orientation week will start on the 18th which is my 15 working days.
I was also advised by the school to withdraw the kids application.
My guys please what advice do u have for me? I am really too worried.
Well, you've already applied so any contribution right now MIGHT just be academic.
If you take the time to read through the last 20 pages or so,u'll see that some cases like yours had been discussed using the UKBA guidelines, am sure ur questions will be answered if u go through them.
As par withdrawing application.....Mebbe its justwise that can answer that o!

Nbogu: Hello charles,

I appreciate your advice, please something else just came up. I later discovered that the expiration date of my visa was wrong. Instead of 27/01/14, they wrote 27/01/2013. I have already reported this to BHC and I was told to take my passport to vfs and drop it in the drop off box that they will receive from vfs and look into it. I did that earlier today. But my worry is that I don't know whether the correction is going to take long. My school starts in september 13, 2013. I am just praying for every thing to be sorted out before Friday this week.

Please let me know how the outcome will be if you have an idea of this kind of case.

Cheers
Its good that you notified them immediately, its not unusual for them to make that sort of mistake (although not often), happened last year and if i remember correctly it was corrected within 5 days, inform your school so that u can get an extension for enrolment and keep your phone open cuz its very likely that they'll call you up on phone just to clarify your course duration (even though its stated in your CAS and they know they are d ones that made d mistake)
There was a report in the newspaper abt 2 months ago about these sort of mistakes at the BHC in Nigeria, even granting someone who applied for 6 months visiting visa a 5 year multi!!! So just relax, I believe it will be sorted out.

steph7: check arnd 4 pm , that's when the status changes

Pardon my rookie question, but shebi I can just go to VFS on the 15th working day, whether I get a text or not, whether the tracking shows ready or not, I guess the worst thing that will happen is that they will tell me its not ready and I should come back, and it could be readyt sef and their tracker and SMS alert is not working!!!!!!!!!!!

Atlantis85: Morning everyone,
I thought i read somewhere on this forum working hours has been reduced to 10hours during term time?
That depends on the duration of your course, the level of the course and the type of accreditation your Institution has with the UKBA..(justwise confirm(?)
Also, if you read the earlier part of this thread you'll get the answer to that...or just read the Tier 4 Policy Guidance!!
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by penfold(m): 6:59am On Sep 02, 2012
Adiahabasi: Hi everyone, Is d oanda exchange rate print out a neccesity?I heard about it for d first time on this thread.what's d rationelle behind it since d BHC website already fixed d conversion rate at 270.So I'm of d opinion that one should just hv enough in d acct based on dis conversion rate,or what do u guys think?
Hey! Don't mix it up!!!
In the UKBA guideline, its stated that the conversion rate would be based on the oanda rate on the day of submission, that is for the money in your account for maintenance!!
The 270NGN rate is for Visa fees, this is fixed at a flat rate cuz it'll be confusing to have d fee constantly changing due to currency flunctuations, that rate will take care of any flunctuation (although they are still thieves sha!!).
You cannot pay for the visa fees in a foreign currency (in GBP) sterling bank will not accept it from you, unless u've paid online in which case the day's rate would ave been used for you.
Like justwise stated earlier,u will not be penalized if u didnt add d Oanda printout, its simply a guide.
In any case, its always better to ave a little excess in your account to cater for flunctuations,so if u use 270NGN to calculate ur maintenance requirements, you are safer, but its not compulsory.

If I'm not mistaken, its like u're planning to fly Iberia to Madrid, then BA to heathrow!!
My brother,am sure u saw that combo on wakanow,my sincere advice to u is that u should call wakanow before u book o,even they will advice you not to combine airlines. If u're attracted by their low fare, then just do Iberia/Iberia,If your connection is on d same airline, then its much better cuz of delays, luggage issues and convenience.

tominiyiE: How soon do you think this can be? 2 or 3 months?
I think what u should do is this..if your husband doesnt have any objection to going along with you (if your course is up to 12months,he can work IF HE CAN FIND WORK), then u should put the money in the bank now (read the maintenance requirements carefully o), go ahead and make your own application, but indicate that your family will be joining u later.around the time the 28 days will mature, your own visa should be out by then,so you can go ahead and resume in october. You'll see that the total period of separation from your baby will not be more than 3wks or thereabouts, you just have to be strong enough to bear those 3weeks o.and am sure your mother or sister or mother in law or sister in law will not object to taking care of a 9month old baby for 3 weeks on ur behalf.that does not make you a wicked mother and it could be for the good of the whole family....My own 2 cents!!

Yeah...i think justwise's advice is the best,if she can bear it,let het go alone, but she would ave indicated that she is married with a child on her form.when they are coming later they can even qualify for reduced maintenance,i think someone did that earlier on this forum.

The argument is about the sufficiency of the letter of consent.
I believe the letter of consent ALONE does not satisfy UKBA requirements. If there is something to hide, then the op would ave jumped at the opportunity to get off lightly. A letter is just a page!! But for a Tier 4 application,it is not sufficient.
@TominiyiE there is a link where the care arrangements for children thingy is mentioned, why dont u check that link? Although they were not specific whether its for a tier 4 (child)applicant in a foster home or boarding school or for all children!!
