•They easily block and unfriend anyone who dare say something negative in their posts.
•They are chicken hearted. They cannot take brutal comments as criticisms. They are very noisy, but they are always scared of harsh comments in their works.
•They are always right in their smelling hearts.
•Everyone is foolish in their eyes.
•They derive joy in talking ill of people with fewer likes and comments.
•If you like LIKE 120 of their works and drop over 40 comments, you're just being stupid, they will never like anything on your wall; not to mention dropping a comment.
•They want others to be active on their walls, while they are passive on other people's walls.
•They have clicks. Only people in their groups/clicks they usually respond to their works.
They can go to any extent to steal posts just to keep their readers and audience up to date and entertained.
•They are pretenders. They claim to be wealthy online, while in real life they are paupers.
•They borrow phones (iphones) and other communication gadgets to showoff online when they are actually living in penury in the physical. Some borrow shirts, dresses, shoes, bags, eye glasses etc just to snap and show off on social media.
•They tell you everything about them. Their monthly periods, how they were bleeped or how they Bleep some goofbrities or celebrities, how they bless people every now and then, how their dads and moms treat them, how they hate this and that...
•They are Liars.
•They can display any of their inbox chat without remorse. They are shameless individuals in the journey of Life.
•They derive pleasure in showing off what they don't have.
•They upload food here and there on social media for people to think they are well fed, when actually they are dying of hunger in the physical world. They can upload any kind of picture they snap ranging from selfie, group photos etc.
•They lie about their data subscriptions, for people to see them as slay queens and slay kings.
•Invite them over to your house, and the next day they would flood their walls and run you down.

A political reading of the revolutionary thinker, Frantz Fanon's much quoted essay, "Pitfalls of National Consciousness" in his delectable book, The Wretched Of The Earth (1967) reveals an accurate prediction of the options available to Africa's political elite of either defending or betraying their nations. True, for more than five decades since the timely publication of the insightful essay, many political leaders and the elite have had cause to follow the primrose and broad ways of betraying their nations again and again for mess of potage. However, those with the milk of patriotism who have walked sedately on the rough path of defending their nations are quite few but very significant. It is among these few redoubtable heroes and heroines that one locates Chief (Comrade) Ovuozourie Samuel Macaulay, the highly respected Okiroro of Isokoland, who turns fifty-eight on October 25, 2018. For more than three decades, Chief Macaulay has been tenaciously defending his Isoko nation; the third largest ethnic group in Delta State and advancing the great cause of the Niger Delta. He has remained exemplary in this regard.

The narrative or story of Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay is inspiring and enchanting. It is a story of commitment, of dedication, of devotion, of determination, of tenacity, of great struggle, and a profile of selfless service and genuine patriotism. Yes, struggle. For more than thirty years, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay has dedicated his life and devoted his energy to titanic struggles as a journalist, a unionist, and later as a activist politician. He is not afraid of struggles, as he struggles for a just and egalitarian state, and for the economic empowerment and development of his Isoko people in particular.

Quite early in his journalistic career, Macaulay resolved his choice in favour of the poor and suffering masses, the proletarians, of truth, of fairness and of justice as he intransigently engaged military. He was a bold antagonist and a thorn in the fleshes of irresponsible military governments and their functionaries. He was objective in his career as a journalist and he courageously fought for the sanctity and preservation of the Nigerian press. Under his watch as Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Delta State Chapters, both associations were the most articulate, vibrant, and reliable branches in the the federation. Like his immediate mentor and great predecessor in the Nigerian labour movement, the late irrepressible Comrade Michael Atakhomien Omnibus Imoudu of Edo State, the implacable labour activist, Comrade Macaulay fought until victories were won. An untiring and unparalleled organiser, Comrade Macaulay never lost the struggles including that of the epic Niger Delta Resource Control and Fiscal Federalism rallies, and strike actions that he led. Little wonder the former president of NLC and current national chairman of All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, described him as "an authentic comrade and political activist who is humble, courageous and appreciative" during the grand reception Macaulay organized in honour of Chief James Onanefe Ibori on Saturday 18th November, 2017. Oshiomole's description aptly captures the man of the moment, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay.

A man of tremendous goodwill and unwavering integrity, Chief Macaulay's ascent to politics marked a critical political watershed for the Isoko nation, who, for too long, has been a nation with tumultuous political fortunes. He stands for progressive politics and the collective interests and aspirations of his people take precedence. He was conscious of the Isoko identity and the imperative of safeguarding it. He saw himself first as an Isokoman, went into politics as an Isokoman and continue to plan and play politics as an Isokoman. Soon, Chief Macaulay became a political rallying point. He galvanized Isoko sons and daughters in forging a common front and making Isoko a global brand. He is committed to this redemptive mission as he works extremely hard and makes deft moves in strategically networking with significant political players of other ethnic groups that make up the larger Delta State and Nigeria for its full realisation. The point should be made that before Chief Macaulay ventured into politics, he and other patriotic Isoko sons and daughters have been struggling for the growth and advancement of Isoko. Thus, his ascent to active politics and subsequent appointments to political offices were opportunities of using the instrument of government in developing his nation and politically and economically empowering his people.

Thus, as a public functionary, first as Commissioner of Inter-Ethnic Relations and Conflict Resolution (2003-2007) during the second tenure of Chief James Ibori, later as Chief of Staff of Government House (2007), Commissioner of Power and Energy (2007-2011), and Secretary to the State Government (2011-2015) under Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan's administration, Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay used these public/political offices to improve the lot of his people by influencing significant developmental projects and political appointments and recruitments of employable and unemployed Isoko youths. Macaulay has rendered in graceful prose, an account of his stewardship in a pamphlet with the elegant title, My Stewardship: Facts Behind The Figures. This piece is yet to be contradicted by cynics and critics three years since its publication in 2015.

Again, that Chief Macaulay served in two different civilian administrations are lucid and eloquent testimonies that he performed superlatively and exceptionally. Three years after he exited the corridors of state power in grand style, Chief Macaulay remains politically relevant as a confidante of His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the incumbent Governor of Delta State, just as he continues to offer uncommon political leadership to his homeland, Isoko. He is also among the few significant politicians in Delta State being consulted on political and electoral matters. Today, there is no politician in Isoko who has not benefited from Chief Macaulay politically.

Respectfully called and highly regarded as "leader", Chief Macaulay is a politician of note whose political sagacity, courage, astuteness, resourcefulness, wisdom, and sparkling brilliance have all helped him emerged as a national political figure of Isoko extraction, standing tall and rubbing minds with key political actors of our dear nation, Nigeria. He is a political leader with charismatic qualities which have made him a popular crowd puller. His movements to social and political functions are usually spectacular with long convoys by his political lieutenants and teeming followers.

A notable and untiring grassroot mobiliser, and a committed chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who has contributed enormously to the party especially electoral successes in Isokoland, Chief Macaulay has served in countless committees of the party including the Accreditation Sub-Committee of the 2018 PDP Elective National Convention that saw Alhaji Atiku Abubakar the nation's former Vice President emerging as the party's presidential flagbearer for the 2019 general election. The committee was headed by the Speaker of Federal House of Representative, Right Honourable Yakubu Dogara

Politics is about structure, and Chief Macaulay has a formidable political structure in Delta State. In 2003, he floated a political pressure group called Isoko Grassroot Movement (IGM) which toiled day and night with uncommon political and missionary zeal, campaigning for Chief Ibori and other aspirants of the PDP. And the People's Democratic Party won convincingly and overwhelmingly in Isoko. IGM, now ably chaired by the political strategist, Deacon Sunday Elueni, has given birth to other political pressure groups of note such as the most politically advanced Isoko Advancement Network (IAN) that boasts of the most significant Isoko political leaders, leading academics, technocrats, and legal luminaries like Sam Idise, the group's acting national chairman; Professor Samuel Aghalino, Chairman of the Governing Council of College of Education, Warri; Chief Paul Odhomor, an astute accountant and renowned consultant; Sir Patrick Ferife, former Commissioner of Special Infrastructure; Honourable Mike Ogwah; Mr. Emmanuel Egbagbor, Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council; Chief Emmanuel Edevor; and Dr. Evelyn Aluta, former Chairman of Delta State Post Primary Education Board; among others.

Other Isoko affiliated political pressure groups include: Isoko Patriotic Front, Macaulay Political Vanguard, Isoko Development Forum, Isoko Political Exodus, Macaulay Ladies Organization, and Macaulay Media Vanguard (the media arm of the groups) which are respectively led by Honourable Daniel Tutumor, Hon. Harryman Okoro, Mr. Sunday Omonakome, Mr Dickson Ebegbare, Mrs Caroline Ako, and Mr. Iteveh Ekpokpobe, an ace political journalist. These groups have ubiquitous presences, membership drawn from virtually every clan in Isoko, and they continue to enjoy and receive generous support from Chief Macaulay as patron and General Alex Ogomudia, former Chief of Defence Staff, as grand patron.

In 2015, foresighted Isoko traditional rulers came together in Owhe Kingdom and conferred on Macaulay the significant chieftaincy title of Okiroro which means "a great thinker, someone with a lot of wisdom and commonsense". Chief Macaulay has also been honoured several times across the nation, including an Award of Excellence by the Faculty of Management Science of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Enugu, which was conferred on him last year, and the SSG of the year by Global Excellence Magazine, Lagos. For now, let's rise up and make a toast to Chief Ovuozourie Samuel Macaulay, the Okiroro of Isokoland, at fifty-eight! Big Congratulations, Our Leader!!!

Through the founding of the IDRW the immense efforts of women and girls around the globe have been recognized as ones who are directly responsible for the betterment of the lives of all and sundry global-wise. Let's speak of the food production most importantly and commonly: who would survive fine to the extent of being comfortable enough to dress corporate in corporate settings and operate without foods of some sort being in the belly to energise? Let's speak of helping to keep the world to see another day, these gender sort are basically responsible for doing that through various green plantations, both small and big, which help to make our atmosphere to become stronger as some other genders and the same gender are busy making the same grow weaker. Let's speak of maintaining the production of different forms of finished goods, with them not being idle, the system would crumpled and there would be problems as demands will kill supply. These things and more are what the women in those rustic settings, covered up in tattered rags overnight, with falling rafters as their ceilings, with different sorts of diseases growing within and outside of them do in order to make things balance for all in life. Essential services on which millions of rural women and girls depend—health, education, childcare, shelters—are chronically underfunded or simply unavailable. Where they exist, they are often the first to be hit by austerity measures, which are once again on the rise. In 2018 alone, 124 countries are expected to be cutting their budgets, eroding social protection measures and essential services on which so many rural women and girls depend. This is not inevitable. In virtually all countries, there is scope for raising or reallocating resources to strengthen public services that are essential for women and girls. It is a matter of political will and of using all the available policy tools. The cost of inaction is simply too high."

International Day for Disaster Reduction 2018: All you need to Know

International Day of Disaster Reduction (IDDR) started in 1989, right after a direction by the United Nations General Assembly for a day for the promotion of risk-awareness and disaster reduction across continents. It was at first said to be on done on every second Wednesdays of the month of October but it was later fixed for every 13th of the same month. This had come into effect in order to find a way to lessen the loss caused through disasters worldwide.

The day celebrates how people and communities in different societies are ameliorating their exposure to disasters and raising their consciousness in surmounting in the risks that they are battling with at their different locations wherever. This year’s, (2018) edition, as quoted from IDDR’s website, “continues as part of ‘Sendai Seven’ campaign, centered on the seven target of the Sendai Framework. This year will focus on Target C of the Sendai Framework, reducing disaster economic losses in relation to global GDP by 2030.” 2016 saw to its launch by UNISDR centered on the same seven targets, of which the first is ameliorating disaster mortality around the globe: this has claimed the lives of many around the continents worldwide, leaving no age class behind. Disaster as we would be aware of, knows know age. It has got no conscience as people do. So, its victims are never picked at random. This reason and more are the reasons which make the IDDR to case it a thing of responsibility to put this under consideration first, for the sake of the safety of all or any.

More over, last year’s was targeted at prevention, protection and reducing the number of head count affected by disasters. These are necessary considerations by the IDDR in order to wade in with their aiding hands to help make things better and life what living for the victims. They try and pose as rather the last resort for relief from the existence of the international body to the area, locality, community or the society affected by the disaster of whatever sort.

The Sendai Seven Campaign is an occasion for all and sundry, more directly, governments, grass-root government, community groups, civil society associations, the privy sectors, the international organisation and the UN (United Nations) family to advance best practices, at the international, local and national level across all the sectors, in order to help ameliorate the risk of losses and risks of disaster.

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers Anambra State Chapter, in
collaboration with the Anambra State Library is seeking submissions of quality poems and essays from writers across the globe, for her 3rd 'Chinua Achebe Poetry/Essay Anthology'.
This anthology will be unveiled at the grand finale of the 3rd edition of the 'Chinua Achebe Literary Festival' tagged: "Remembering Chinua Achebe: A Commemoration Of A Literary Star".
This annual festival which is its third edition is a literary event
initiated to honour, celebrate and learn from the life and works of the Literary Star - Late Prof. Chinua Achebe who was born on the 16th day of November 1930, and
also to recognize his great achievements, legacies and inputs in the literary field of life.
The festival started in 2016, with its second edition held in 2017, while this third edition is (like others) slated to take place on the 16th of
November 2018 at the auditorium hall of the Prof. the Kenneth Dike Central E-Library Awka Anambra State, starting by 9.am .
This festival is an initiative of, and is being organized by the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (Anambra State Chapter), in collaboration with the Anambra State Library
Board Awka, in the memory of the great literary champion -- Chinua Achebe in whose name it is tagged.

With a view to mark this great event and with the aim of making it remarkable indeed, a call
for submissions is hence open to both published and unpublished writers / burgeoning and accomplished writers across the globe, to write and submit their thematically-articulated essays and poetry in the memory of Achebe.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

1. Essay or Poetry MUST be in the memory of Achebe, and may focus on his life, works, personality, writing style or other areas.
2. The essay or poetry should be brief and concise. A maximum of 500 words for essays or reviews, and a maximum of 40 lines for poetry.
3. Author’s information - contact address, phone number, E-mail address and a short bio of no more than 50 words should be included in the submission.
4. Submission is open to all.
5. Writer may choose any interesting title of his/her choice.
6. Entries should be sent to synwanambrachapter@gmail.com (type-written in the body of the mail; NOT AS AN ATTACHMENT)
7. Submission Deadline: 30th October 2018.
8. Late Entry will not be accepted.
9. Entries could be written in either English or Igbo Language.
