Tecno announced the Phantom V Fold - the company's first foldable smartphone, and it's a big one.
Here's a key features video to get us started.
- The Tecno Phantom V Fold arrives in a generous package. You get a cool Aramid Fibre case for the rear panel with a built-in kickstand - an integral part of any folding phone case. You also get a 45W charger, which is more than you'd get with a Samsung folding phone these days.
- Tecno went with a book-style design for its first folding phone. But the rear panel stands out among the foldables thanks to a unique recycled-plastic design, not dissimilar to the one on the Phantom X2 Pro.
- It feels grippy in the hand and the rough texture is a breath of fresh air next to the myriad of different glass panels we're used to. One downside of the back panel is that it doesn't house wireless charging.
- Continuing the thread of usability, the Tecno Phantom V Fold feels solid in the hand. It's well built and when closed, it feels similar to an average bar phone with edges that taper slightly towards a comfortable and relatively thin frame.
- The frame itself tapers off at the very edge to allow a thin slit for your fingers when you want to pry the Phantom V Fold open.
- The cover display of the Tecno Phantom V Fold is a 6.42-inch 1080x2550px AMOLED, capable of variable refresh rate up to 120Hz. The panel is more usable than the Galaxy Z Fold4's narrower cover display.
- Another area where the Tecno foldable is superior is the built-in battery, which is a generous 5,000mAh unit. The inner display is also bigger than the Galaxy Z Fold4's at 7.85-inch. It's also a 120Hz AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2000x2296px.
- It's simply a bigger panel than the Galaxy Z Fold4's and you can fit more inside. But by default, the Phantom V Fold is set to a slightly larger scale factor, meaning that the UI is a bit bigger than the Galaxy's.
- The crease on the Tecno Phantom V Fold isn't as noticeable as the Galaxy Z Fold4's. That's in part due to the different hinge designs.
- The Phantom V Fold can close down flat, while the Galaxy Z Fold4 has a small gap that lets in dust and particles when in a pocket.
- Design-wise, the Tecno Phantom V Fold is superior to the Galaxy Z Fold4. But there are nuances to this. The hinge Tecno uses can't stay in any position like the one on Samsung's foldable can.
- Then there's the Galaxy's water resistance and the fact that at 263g, the Galaxy Z Fold4 is a full 36 grams lighter than the 299g Tecno Phantom V Fold.
- There's no getting around the fact that the Tecno Phantom V Fold is a heavy device. But you do get more, quite literally - more battery capacity, and more display area on both ends.
Stick around for even more of the Tecno Phantom V Fold, coming soon!

Yinksy09: Premium smartphone brand TECNO today announced the renewal of its partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to support UNHCR’s global program in primary education, Educate A Child (EAC). The partnership aims to support the improvement of refugee children’s education in Africa, ensuring refugee children’s right to education and ultimately contribute to equal access to education for all.
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic devastated the learning conditions of refugee children, causing school closures in Africa over the school year. By contributing financially to the EAC program, TECNO’s support has benefited children in Kenya’s Dadaab camp by providing them with textbooks and school kits. In addition, TECNO donated tablets to support continued learning of refugee children during school closure, as well as 50,000 medical face masks for UNHCR Kenya to support its COVID-19 response.
In 2021, TECNO and UNHCR will continue the partnership to benefit a total of 10,670 refugee children in Uganda and Kenya. TECNO’s financial contribution to the EAC program will contribute to the holistic intervention in these locations including improvement of school infrastructure, material assistance to students, training for teachers, and support for refugee students with special needs.
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa, continuous commitment from TECNO is important to support a safe school reopening and better access for refugee children to continue their primary education, laying the foundation for them to pursue higher education in the future.
Stephen Ha, General Manager of TECNO said, “With the renewed partnership with UNHCR, we hope to continue our support in improving the learning conditions of refugee children. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, TECNO is committed to giving back to the community where we are present. Mthumbie: TECNO Mobile has ranked for five consecutive years among the TOP 6 brands on the African continent, marking another prestigious recognition of the brand’s leadership in Africa.
Established in 2011, the Brand Africa 100: Africa’s Best Brands rankings are the most authoritative survey and analysis on brands and underlying businesses in Africa, based on a study by Geopoll across 28 countries spanning all the five economic regions and analysis and ranking by Kantar and Brand Leadership.
Collectively they account for over 80% of the population and over 80% of the GDP of Africa. The 2021 survey was conducted between March and April 2021 and yielded over 80,000 brand mentions and over 3,500 unique brands.
Since establishment, TECNO made a strategic decision to focus on Africa. When the brand first entered Africa, its core strategy was to focus on sub-Saharan Africa, where cell phone penetration was very low and was largely ignored by global cell phone manufacturers.
The aim was to bring a cell phone that would suit African consumers and improve the lives of as many people in Africa as possible by bridging the digital gap through technology and innovation.
The brand as since then set numerous records that defines its success and popularity. To name a few, TECNO was the first to launch dual SIM cards in Africa over a decade ago to solve the expensive data-roaming problem and the complexity of mobile connections.
TECNO was also the first to develop longer-lasting batteries that provided 72 hours of battery life to solve the power supply issues. The brand was the first to bring dark-skin camera solutions and the best Camera phone for the continent, which is now a recognized leader in this regard at global level.
After more than a decade of committment and consistency in Africa, the rewards are finally falling in. Earlier in the year, Counterpoint Research ranked TECNO as Africa’s Top1 smartphone brand in 2020, stating that TECNO made its breakthroughs in mobile photography technology and continued investment in the market throughout the pandemic despite a challenging year. And now, with Brand Africa’s new rankings, TECNO has once again come out tops, becoming a leading player in mid to high-end mobile brand segments in Africa.
TECNO brand spokesperson sharing that, “ We’re very honoured to be listed again amongst African’s Best Brands ranking this year and to be part of the key contributor to the development of African business.
Shouldering African consumers’ trust and great support, we will keep the momentum to continuously unlock our best of contemporay products and technologies for consumers across Africa and inspire them to pursue a better life via mobile technology innovations.”

investigator007: Many people outside Christianity and within Christianity who do not attend church regularly may wonder why many others in the faith choose to make this a weekly habit, different people have different reasons why they attend the churches they do.
Generally, there are four main reasons people go to church which are; to fellowship, do the sacraments, worship God, and give. However, there are many other reasons people go to church, one being to charge phones , sounds weird right? Yeah, some people literally attend services just because they lack power supply and that serves as a means to power up their appliances which leaves me wondering why they won't just get a phone like the Pouvoir 4 that has a very strong 6000 mAh battery that can last for days, rather they'll prefer to be carrying their chargers to public gatherings
Another reason is fashion , the service serves as a means to showcase that new dress they bought, some others go there to meet people , that's an avenue for them to hook up, others may even be lucky to find their life partner.
Please don't get me wrong, I am not judging, but just citing the obvious and I'm open to other reasons as to why people attending services. Let's discuss.
