Much of the VAT from Lagos, FCT etc comes from Igbo owned businesses.

Bear in mind that most successful Igbo people do not live in Igboland permanently, they visit often, but their businesses are always outside Igboland because they are Republicans and developers.

May we pray for the Igbo man to always invest more on his soil, so that VAT will increase for South East State Governments to have excess resources to develop the SE. It is not Federal Government that built the SS States that are advancing rapidly.

Imagine saying most of the VAT in China are paid by American companies that are less than 10% in China. And the VATs paid by American companies in the US (where 90% of are owned by Americans) pale in comparison with what you have in China. How does that sound in your ears? undecided

We have 5 international airport in Nigeria.
1. Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos= SW.
2. Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja= NC.
3. Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano= NW.
4. Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers = SS.
5. Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu= SE.

North East doesn't have an international airport. What do say about that?

Is it only SE that don't have ports?

Do you mean functioning airport or functioning international airport?

At least prior to Jonathan SS never had any one notable. They were denied of presidency and vice presidency. The SSners faced more injustice than the Easterners.

What is driving it, if not people migrating from your uncomfortable region.

Well, most IPOB members have never succeeded in anything, so they dont understand the role of economics and politics.

If they can believe buhari died in saudi arabia, no need to lecture the empty heads.

They even believe that the US and UK are keeping Buhari's death from us.

You tell us.. How were the Igbos being treated before 2014 (and even now) that was different from how other tribes are being treated?

I am 100% in support of rivers and Lagos. people will start voting their state governors wisely, not based on sentiments or emotions. if a governor can't use his brain, then he is in for a very long hungry tenure.

Do you know the sad thing about this... Its the fact that majority of us youths don't even know the issue on ground. You'd be surprised at the number of youths that don't even know about this VAT issue between FG and Rivers/Lagos State. Most of them are busy watching BBN.

Now during elections when Governorship aspirants are campaigning, what every sane person should want to hear is how the aspirants would increase their State's IGR not how they would build a 22 storey world class hospital. They should tell us how they'll get money to do the things they're campaigning for.

Now states governors would think twice before using millions to fund students to study Arabic in Egypt or building a worship center with millions of taxpayer funds. This policy will make State Governors to have sense.

But on the down side this policy can cause increment on some goods. Cos now, in a bid to make more cash, Governors would begin taxing things that weren't taxed before now and their price would come up. But then, that's a price we're willing to pay for a better Nigeria.

Abokis still have proceeds from crude oil sales generated from the southto share every month at Abuja

The south just wants to be retain the tax after working hard to bring investors

There is no way you'll keep pursuing investors and be getting dividends from those that give enabling environments for business to thrive

Sure States will continue to receive FAAC monthly. But with this issue on ground, allocations will reduce cos money from VAT is part of what the FG share to States. So now that FG won't be able to collect VAT it means the money they can share will reduce drastically.

FIRS should just renogotiate with the major states. For example, Lagos State, FCT, Rivers and the rest of the states can keep 50-60% of what she generates, why the rest of the 40% will be shared among the 36 stayed and the FCT equally.

There can be a timeline, It can be till 2030. Between 2021 and 2030, the rest of the states go don dey work hard, towards creating a conducive environment for business to be establish in each State.

This will be a win win situation for the states and FG.

The best time to act is now. The lazy States will still decide to be lazy even if they're given 50 years to sit up. Sometimes people improve when they're in serious tension. Las las every state go get sense. Especially those ones that don't want to be liberal.

Enough with all these Southern tax is being used to feed the North. The actual story is Lagos tax is being used to feed the North and South. Only Lagos states generates over 70% of all the taxes in Nigeria while the other 35 states generates the remaining less than 30%.

But some people still think it's only the North that would suffer if States starts collecting VAT.

when all states start collecting VAT each state will see the importance of even the most minute revenue generator. Even if it is only 50 kobo that sale of alcohol can generate they'll guard it their life. It will make them sit up.
