Nigerians will now pay stamp duty on ATM printouts, some WhatsApp messages, says FIRS Nigerian EyeMay 29, 2020 The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) says Nigerians will now pay stamp duties on WhatsApp messages, SMS, and messages via any electronic platform acknowledging receipt of funds. The revenue service also stated that stamp duties will be paid on “POS receipts, fiscalised device receipts, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) print-outs”. According to an information circular published by the agency, Nigerians will also be required to pay stamp duties on SMS acknowledging receipt of funds. FIRS gave illustrations of situations where Nigerians are expected to pay stamp duties, one of them says: “ABZ Ltd’s chief accounting officer, after receiving a cash payment of N500,000 from Mr. XYZ on behalf of ABZ Ltd., composed a message which reads: ‘receipt of N500,000 is hereby acknowledged’ and sent same to Mr. XYZ via WhatsApp messenger”. “In this case, the WhatsApp message acknowledging the receipt of N500,000 constitutes a receipt for which stamp duty is payable. “Mr XYZ is required to make a disclosure of the details of the transaction using FIRS e-stamp duty platform or to the relevant stamp duties Commissioner. This will lead to assessment and payment of appropriate stamp duties and a consequential issuance of a stamp duty certificate or an acknowledgement. “Such certificate or acknowledgement will suffice as evidence that stamp duties have been paid and that the electronic receipt has been stamped appropriately.” The agency adds that “all electronic dutiable instruments or receipts”, including e-mails, short message service (sms), instant messages (IM), any internet-based messaging service, are subject to stamp duty. The circular, issued in April, clearly stated that “all printed receipts” and “all electronically generated receipts and any form of electronic acknowledgement of money for dutiable transactions” are liable to duty payment |

Where exactly was Gen. Buhari when Late Abba Kyari was giving out those Appointments and Signing? There is an ongoing rumors that is going on in Aso rock that baffled many people. After the news emaged people starting asking different questions and airing their opinion. There is a news going on that the Presidency is allegedly going to terminate some appointments made or given by Late Abba kyari. Late Abba kyari was the chief of staff to the president before he died in April 2020. But its as if the man has signed some memos in the Asorock without the knowledge of the president. According to reports, the President, Muhammadu Buhari is allegedly said to have given order to the new chief of staff ; Professor Gambari after checking the office and reports of the late chief of staff. The order was ; about 100 plus people were given appointments in the federal government without the knowledge of the president so they should be dissolved. But the questions that need to be asked is where is the president when Late Abba kyari was carrying out executive orders without his permission? Is that a proof to what many people are saying about the Late Chief of staff that he take control of everything in the presidency before his dead? Where is the president?? However, there is no any official announcement from the presidency that the news is true or false but reports has it that Femi Adesina was also mute when journals ask him. Can you give your view about this? Where was the president when all these were going on? |
The Oldest And First Tribe To Settle in Nigeria Nigeria's history can be traced back to settlers who traded across the Middle East and Africa as early as 1100 BC. Numerous ancient African civilizations settled in the region that today is Nigeria, such as the Kingdom of Nri, the Empire of Benin and the Empire of Oyo. Islam entered Nigeria in the 11th century through the Borno Empire between (1068 AD) and the Hausa states about (1385 AD), while Christianity came to Nigeria in the 15th century through Portuguese Augustinian and Capuchin monks. Igbo kingdom The Kingdom of Nri is considered the foundation of the culture of Igbo, and the oldest kingdom in Nigeria. Nri and Aguleri, where the myth of the creation of Igbo originates, are in the territory of the Umueri clan, which traces their lines back to the patriarchal figure of the king, Eri. A bronze ceremonial vessel found in igboukwu was made around 9th Century. The origins of Eri are not clear, although he was identified as a "sky being" sent by Chukwu (God). He was described as having first given the Anambra people societal order. Youruba Kingdom Historically the Yoruba people were the dominant group on Niger's west bank.Their closest linguistic relatives are the Igala, who live on the opposite side of the Benue divergence of the Niger, and from whom they are thought to have split some 2,000 years ago. Oduduwa casting with ife bronze dated around 12th century in British museum The Yoruba pay homage to a pantheon made up of a Supreme Deity, Olorun, and Orisha. In the Yoruba language the Olorun is now called God. There are 400 deities called Orisha who perform various tasks. Oduduwa is believed, according to the Yoruba, to be the father of the Yoruba kings. Hausa Kingdom The Hausa Kingdoms were first mentioned by Ya'qubi in the 9th century, and were competing with Kanem-Bornu and the Malian Empire by the vibrant trading centers of the 15th century. Slaves, leather, gold, cloth, salt, kola nuts, and henna were the prime exports. The famous Kano Chronicle records Mali's clerics' conversion of Kano's ruling dynasty, showing that Mali's imperial influence extended far to the east. Islam's adoption was incremental and mostly nominal in the countryside where folk religion continued to exert a powerful influence. Nonetheless, Kano and Katsina came to participate entirely in the cultural and intellectual life of the Islamic world, with their prominent mosques and schools. In the 13th century, the Fulani began to reach the Hausa region, and also tended cattle, sheep , and goats in Borno by the 15th century. The Fulani came from the valley of the Senegalese River, where their ancestors developed a method of Livestock management. |

A man whose name is Abubakar Sadiq Kurbe, has shared what he noticed after visiting the Late Chief of Staff's grave, Abba Kyari to offer him prayers. In his tweet on Twitter, he made it known that be drove to Gudu cemetery yesterday where the late Abba Kyari is resting to offer him a prayer. He said the thing that struck his mind was that there was no protocol observed, there was no security check, and also there was nothing like appointment to see him in his new home. He said few months ago, if anyone is to see the late Mallam Abba Kyari, the protocols and the security agents guarding him won't allow you to see him. What they will ask from you is if you have booked an appointment with him or check if your name was on the list. But yesterday, there was nothing like that when I visited his grave. He said the protocols and the security agents guarding the late chief of staff while he was still alive have all left him alone to protect himself. This should be a big lesson for all of us that one day, we will be left alone to defend ourselves, he said. The same people that we are running away from are the ones that will have unhindered access to our graves. If the Late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari was told that the uneducated grave guards are the ones to look after his corpse in his permanent home, he would have sent them to Harvard and buy them a beautiful apartment in Maitama, Abuja, he said. They are the only friends he has now. All the big men, the politicians, the boot lickers, the sycophants, the praise singers have all deserted him, he said. The Late Abba Kyari was the serving Chief of Staff to president Muhammadu Buhari since he won his presidential election in 2015 after defeating the incumbent president, former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. However, the late Chief of Staff was reinstated after the president won his second election in 2019. However, he died after contracting the nobel Coronavirus in Germany, where he went to settle a deal between Seimens AG and the Federal Government of Nigeria. He was tested positive to the virus a week after he came back and died barely month later in a private hospital in Lagos. |

In 1720, a ship was quarantined at the port in Marseille because a strange infection was killing people on the ship. Deputy Mayor of Marseille lifted the quarantine to “help economy”. 100,000 people died. More than half of Marseille died. This was the Great Plague of Marseille. The govt of Marseille felt they could not afford to lose all the valuable goods on the ship as it will destroy the economy. As they lifted the quarantine and moved the goods into the city of Marseille, they moved in the infection. More than half of Marseille citizens died. Marseille is a major port city in the south of France. Just as Lagos in the south of Nigeria. By the end of the Great Plague of Marseille, the city of Marseille had 50,000 dead people (out of a total 90,000 population back then). That is like 10million people dying in Lagos. The ship left Sidon in Lebanon, picked up people at Tripoli, and Cyprus which already had infection outbreak. A Turkish man on the ship got infected first and died, then several sailors died. The ship’s surgeon also died. As the ship got to Marseille, Doctors quarantined it. Now because Marseille had a very huge trading arrangement with “Levant” (a term for countries like Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus, Turkey, Israel, Jordan, and Palestine); the govt was convinced by businessmen that the quarantine on the ship has to be removed and the goods released. Some powerful businessmen led by the deputy mayor of Marseille (who was also the owner of the ship) convinced his friends in government to release the quarantine. Some merchants needed the cotton and silk cargo on the ship to do business for the upcoming festival in Beaucaire. It was only a matter of days later. The infection broke out in the whole of Marseille. People started dropping dead. They died so much there was no longer graves to bury them. Dead bodies littered the streets of Marseille. Till date, the people of Marseille remember this story. Apparently what happened was: The govt tried to be clever. They told themselves “we will only move the silk and cotton on the ship into the city but not the infected people on the ship”. Lol. In moving the goods, they unknowingly moved infected rats which then infected people. As people got infected, they infected one another. At a point, the govt of France built a wall to stop Marseille from infecting the rest of the country. But it was late. 10,000 people from Marseille already ran into neighbouring cities. 50,000 people died outside of Marseille. The Great Plague of Marseille lasted about 3 years. Those were horrible years in Marseille and in France. Hospitals got overwhelmed. Residents fleeing their homes. Dead bodies lying and decaying on the streets. As the infection then spread, Nobody cared anymore about “economy”. I hope you learnt something. The Great Plague of Marseille is a huge warning to governments never to prioritise the “economy” ahead of human lives and public health. It can be a very costly mistake. We can always rebuild the economy. But we can never revive the dead. Thank you. |
