afrobrown2000:
dear NL,
my dear wife just came back from her missionary trip a week ago with my LO did notarized doc at no cost ($50 waiver was applied) did VOA at $190 went to the airport with $200 paid for her on arrival to my surprise they gave me $10 change
Delivery was at baylor Scott and white Whiterock dallas heard the name just changed....via CS by Dr Esebede

all bills paid except pediatrics

hospital $4300
Dr $2800
lab $230
Anesthesiologist $1000
pathology $104 (discounted $30)

pediatrics $1610 (discounted to $1104)

thats where the problem is had a set of twins in 2015 who had a normal newborn bill of $312 each totaling $624 same hospital how come for my LO it came to this price $1104

so i decided to call them myself on friday and noticed this bill came from a clinic called Pediatrix nothing changed...then i remembered a discussion about them earlier on this tread which i felt they wouldnt be the ones handling my LO delivery..
they have a healthy baby package which is to be paid before delivery and that is supposed to cost $675....will call on monday and see if i could still get the package

pls for those that haven't delivered you might also try and find out about this information to avoid unnecessary cost ...thanks
Congratulations! I actually know you very well, we are family friends. Ask to speak with Ann in central Billing when you call Pediatrix. She was the one that sorted out my bill and I payed over the phone.

$190 cash or pay $180 with international credit card. If paying cash, they don't accept older (pre-2006) notes.
Oh ok! So they would accept my BofA card? Kindly confirm

Hi, please for those that used Pediatrix how long after delivery did it take to get your bill? I've been chasing them fro 2 weeks now and they don't have my billing information. any way to expedite? I have less than 3 weeks to leave here and i want to settle my bills and get my receipts and statements before i leave. would appreciate any helpful info. Thanks!
The front agents are clueless about self pay patients. Ask to speak to Mary in Central Billing and give her your baby’s last name and first name (Not your name) to trace your account then you can make payments over the phone. Also look out in your mail for your Pediatrix account information, Mine came in about 2 weeks after I had my baby.

Maybe the one you went to. I went to two different ones around me looking for some items and a convertible car seat for my toddler and after using my price match app and checking around, Amazon was still better for me. They mark up the price before the sale and then they discount the price based off the markup to give people the illusion of a sale.
Oh I see! I was at the one at Westheimer, Houston. I was there for books, educational toys etc for my older kids and not necessarily baby shopping. I guess it’s worth the try depending on what you are looking for.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Petdaughter: 7:16am On Mar 30, 2018

It’s not discounted. You’re even better off buying on Amazon, Target or Walmart cos there are better deals on there still.
I was at the store yesterday and YES most of the items were on sale. I got very good deals

I paid $417 over the phone with my card. I guess it's not cheap because of the season. People are starting to buy summer tickets and all
Thank you very much. Pls was there any baggage allowance for your baby?

Hi guys
Second missionary journey done and dusted. Came home 2 days ago. I will say two things:
DO NOT PAY ANYBODY MONEY TO GET YOU APPROVAL FOR VISA ON ARRIVAL! I stupidly paid a colleague just because I didn't want stories about not getting the approval email before my travel date and I have been seriously regretting it since.
DO NOT USE DELTA AIRLINES IF YOU WILL BE TRAVELING ALONE WITH YOUR INFANT. That was my worst trip ever. I made firm reservations for a bassinet only to find out they didn't even have any on the plane. I ended up carrying my baby the entire trip. This is why I miss United airlines.

Good luck to everyone. I'm done grin
Please how much did you pay to add your infant to your Delta ticket? Also did you pay over the phone or at the airport? The quote they are giving me is ridiculously high

No.As stated earlier the decision to use the visa for childbirth was taken after the visa was issued and owing to what may be termed as misrepresentation informed my seeking advice from the forum.
Don’t bother with the medical visa. I renewed via Dropbox for both pregnancies and I was already pregnant. I declared at POE and carried enough burden of proof. Arm yourself with enough documents and cash and declare at the point of entry that you are here to have your baby. Also send the generic letter Incase the CBP officer asks if you informed the embassy. I hope you are aware that even with medical visa, we have read where they sent pregnant women back. I wish you all the best
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Petdaughter: 8:50pm On Feb 13, 2018
Hello Guys, so this is my airline and POE story.
I renewed my visa via Dropbox in Lagos when I was 4 months pregnant. I had used my previous Visa for childbirth in 2016 and also for my family vacation in Aug 2017. My visa was renewed without any hassles. I wrote the embassy and got the generic response.
I booked KLM/Delta Airline to land in New York, I’ll be here for a day and then head to Houston via Southwest Airline.

I travelled at 34weeks 4 days. My trip from Lagos to Amsterdam was very smooth. I really hate airplane meals but for some reason I enjoyed the meals on my flight. I wasn’t asked for fit to fly or any medical report at all. I got priority check in and boarding due to my belly obviously. Lol. Layover was 4 hrs and then off to New York. I got interviewed at Amsterdam, it was like a security check. They asked if I packed all my luggage myself and did I help anyone carry anything? what I’m going to America to do? where I work and my job role? I was again selected for special screening. Not funny at all, they just searched me thoroughly and swiped some paper stuff on me and my luggage. It went smoothly too.

The Delta Airline journey was also smooth and restful. The air hostess got my neighbor to move, on my request, so I had 2 seats to myself.

Would I recommend KLM/Delta for pregnancy waka? Absolutely. No fit to fly hassle, short trip to the US/short transit time and good meals.

I requested for wheelchair at both Amsterdam and New York. I was wheeled to the CBP officer at New York, this is my transcript;

CBP: what are you here for?
Me: To have my baby
CBP: (types for a bit) How long are you here for
Me:9 weeks
CBP: what kind of food did you bring?
Me: Processed food, ground egusi, crayfish and dry fish
He then types for a bit and said I should follow him. I was wheeled to the secondary inspection area. I waited for about 15mins and I was called

CBP: Do you have any proof for your baby plans?
Me: Yes I do. (I then brought out my flat file with all my burden of proof, each document was labeled with sticker notes and then a fat envelope containing cash was placed on top of the file)
CBP: what is this? (Pointing at the envelope)
Me: Cash
CBP: How much?
Me: $10k
CBP then brings it out and looks through the cash, he then says to me, Be careful moving around with this amount of money. I just smiled.
He then looked through my file and was like wow, you are so organized. I said thank you and he replied “No, thank you for being so organized”
I just smiled again.

He asked if it was my 1st baby and I said 3rd. He said wow, then asked if I have had any of them in the US and I said my 2nd child.

That was all. He then stamped me in. I was not sent to Agriculture at all. I carried crayfish, dry fish, stock fish, knorr, ijebu garri, groundnut, frozen Pap, egusi, Ogbono and ground pepper.

That’s my airline and POE story.

Preggy within 1 year of divorcehuh

I'm sure that the current husband was there when you were with your Ex. #Infidelity.
Don’t judge people by their circumstance. I was in an extremely abusive marriage that lasted 9months, thankfully I had no child for him. This ex did the same thing to his 2nd wife, she suffered a worse fate sef. I knew all this cos she reached out to me somehow, she also had to run away. Demon is an understatement to describe this antichrist! 3 months after I moved out, I got talking to my high school boyfriend. We went on dates and 6 months later I was pregnant. Today we are happily married and expecting baby number 3. Everyone tells me how blessed I am today but I remember a few people including my parents felt it was socially awkward. It’s ok to feel some kind of way because of our society but this thinking is why so many women are killed in marriages. This could be your sister, don’t judge!

D delay was caused by her hubby who refused to go apply for his own visa, she eventually decided to go alone and go start her own treatment
She told them travel date wld be in august, but then tickets were ridiculously expensive and hubby kept promising to go apply for his own visa
Yes, she's been trying to conceive for abt 10yrs and was genuinely going for IVF treatment. And yes, she had evidence of all d hospital correspondences wit her, and had rescheduled her 1st appointment for this week.
Yes, she said they checked her hand luggage and didn't find anything incriminating. 2 mths becos she just assumed treatment wld take that long for d 1st stage.

Pls let me know how we can tackle this problem when reapplying. Im trying to assure her that she can get her visa again

Why the delay in travel?
When did she tell say her travel date will be during her interview?
Was she still going for the fertility treatment?
If yes, was she having evidence on her to this effect when she arrived the US?
Why two months exactly and with what was she justifying this?
Did they check her stuff in the US before being denied entry and having visa cancelled?
This story is very painful and it goes to show you how some men can be so insensitive. The lady has looked for a child for 10 whole years. The least the oga could do was show up for a visa interview and then go with her to see the Doctor in the US. He failed to do that and this my friend, is the cause of this unfortunate incident. Even a layman knows that you can’t receive fertility treatment alone. The treatment is for the couple. How would she do the IVF if the sperm carrier is not available in the US with her? Was she planning to use a sperm donor? I hope you are getting my point. The CBP is not daft and he/she could easily tell that these unanswered questions are suspicious. I feel sorry for the lady cos she seems to be the only one invested in getting a baby. She needs to sit down with her spouse and decide if he is game and they have to work together as a couple as far as IVF and other fertility treatment is concerned. She can also try the UK. My colleague was successful in having her babies through IVF in the UK. All the best to the lady and her husband.

But u are not spending ur money when u embrace Medicare talks. Bwahahahaha.. We don't like America but lie and die to give births there.
I don't hate America and it's not a do or die for me. However, having dual citizenship creates great opportunities. I've never touched or plan to use Medicaid so I'm sure that "embracing" statement is not directed at me as I pay all my bills in full. My point is that we should pass our points politely without assuming people on here are going to give birth fraudulently.

Twoods I was addressing is the one that acts upset when people ask of Medicaid innocently. Think about it, If they think it was ok to use it, they won't come here to verify. They'd just go ahead and use it. Pls get my point and don't make this a joke.

Aunty, you don’t sound anymore mature. As I said earlier, you seem more upset than the person who asked the Medicaid question. I wonder why...

If you didn’t think it was a privilege to live in the United States then why are you here, paying thousands to have a child here?
Where I choose to have my child is none of your nosey business! I'm not upset at all, I'm actually irritated by your overall responses on this thread and I know you can do better but you just choose to always sound cocky and sarcastic. Anyway since you have missed the point from my 1st response to you, I don't see you changing your mentality. However, if you come for me best believe I'll come back at you ✌️

If there were all honest people here, this thread would not exist... i would encourage you to take your own advice. Politeness begets politeness. QED.

This is an open forum, not a personal blog, so unfortunately you cannot control who posts and how they post. You can only control what you post. Last I checked, i never quoted you in the first place. It is beyond me why you’re shedding more tears than the bereaved.
[quote author=TWoods post=62689165]Honestly, Im convinced you are a child! That's why you are reading but not comprehending. I'll peg your age at maybe 20 or 21. You feel so privileged that you live in America. I feel sorry for people like you, who surround their worth to a country. Especially one that your black life does not even matter. You think you are better than people in Nigeria because you live in the UShuh Pls study or work or do whatever the heck you went to America to do in the 1st place and stop bothering hormonal Auntys like me. Ain't nobody got time to be arguing with a child
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Petdaughter: 11:31pm On Nov 24, 2017

Respectfully I disagree. Nigerians find anything that does not kowtow to them as “insultive”. Even if they are doing something flagrantly wrong, you have to tell them on your knees lest they be “offended”.
Stop generalizing! What's with this Nigerians this and Nigerians that! You do realize we are a nation of different tribes right? so why would you think all 186million+ of us think alike? You are not kowtowing to anybody, its basic human manners. Knowledge is freely shared on this platform and everyone deserves to be treated with equal respect. If you don't like how "Nigerians" roll pls look away from this thread and face somewhere else. You are trying to act more American than Americans. Or are you a VO in disguise? Say who you really are and state why you are always so disgruntled about honest people trying to have their babies in America. I hope you realize that lots of dishonest people with bad intentions don't bother to read up this thread? Pls be polite to people here or look away. If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing!
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Petdaughter: 11:01pm On Nov 24, 2017
TWoods:
What matters is what you told the VO, that you will be responsible for 100% of your birthing costs. Anything else is an excuse. Of course the hospitals want you to get Medicaid. It’s easier for them to simply bill the government, with 100% guarantee that they will get their money, than rely on a promise that you will adhere to whatever payment plan they give you.
You are still missing the point. We get the message you are preaching, your tone is just what is insultive. Just take corrections about the tone of your messages, everyone can't be wrong. You come across as very argumentative and incorrigible, pls do better
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Petdaughter: 9:33pm On Nov 23, 2017
[quote author=TWoods post=62653088]There is no discount anywhere. That "discount" either gets charged back to the government or to the rest of us who see our health insurance premiums go up by an average of 30% every single year, while you get to go home and pay nothing. As i have always said, if you cannot afford having a baby in the United States, please stay back in Nigeria.

She should negotiate a payment plan and pay every

I noticed you are very "touchy" about people that have payment issues. You can pass your message across without your humble brag of paying premium and taxes. We get it! You have said it a million times and everything is not about you. Pass on your message without being passive aggressive

Thanks for your helpful responses as always.
Medicaidhuh Haven't you been reading and following this thread! Please do not touch Medicaid as you would find that you are playing with fire, unless you want your wife (and maybe even you) to receive a visa ban. Pay your bills pls. My Dear, nothing to be depressed about it. A lot of moms-to-be travel alone, have their baby and come back. Just travel when you planned to leave Nigeria, when your mom attends her interview and gets the visa, God willing, she would join you. If not, know that you are not alone, loads of people do it. Or start asking for people on this forum who also have your birthing period so you can do collabo with them.
