salsera: Well you need to do a search online for paid clinical trials. The website will give details of the trials they have so you can check which ur interested. Paid trials can range from 300 to 4000 pounds compensation.

Note there will be screenings and since this is research strict compliance to the regulations of the study
Okay, Thanx
So one can earn some few extra money with that un this country. Pls, how safe and reliable is that cos I want to be a part of it.

salsera: So here goes.
For extra cash you can also consider registering for paid clinical trials. Use the cash or since we are in the charity season use the money towards a charity of your choice.
The internet is a good source just ensure the trials follow ethics committee. You need to have been registered to a Gp for 6 months or have ur Gp abroad be able to send ur medical details.

Another tip, if you shop at supermarket(hacer la compra) do it in the evening - all the reduced to clear items are done then

Also make use of discount websites for deals at restaurants,
Thank you. Pls do you mind making the clinical trail clearer to me? I have come across this lately and am interested. Though still skeptical bout it

Dis Guy: University accommodation is safe, usually furnished and inclusive!

theres are some cost students dont calculate when looking for accommodation like transport to and from lectures
You are more likely to get the 'Student experience' living in university accommodation than living off; personally
i feel many international student get carried away easily when living in privately rented flats as they are more likely to be
living with other immigrants who are working and tend to get sucked in, making that (earning an income) their main priority

You get involved more with university life, your rooms cleaned once a week, you get repairs done by the management, no need
to be chasing after some dodgy landlord who'll ask for more money, you might even get under floor heating!!
I dont agree with you on that... I stay in an accommodation about 10 mins walk from school in Portsmouth and dont pay for transport. And for Uni of Portsmouth students, you are entitled to free bus transport from strategic places or bus stops on the school owned buses. That is one of the reasons I love this school to the last. Concerning proirity, I think its on the individual and not living with with other people. Its one's chioce here to do what you want.

gunpoint: ^^^
Nope, it applies to only premier league teams.
@jayda
Dude if u r any good den take d chanc and go to 4 d degree. Pick a uni in a city with lots of clubs, the rule says u can't get paid to play but u can play for dem for free. My tots are u jst wana get spotted by a club, if u r as gud as u tink u can get a club to sponsor u 4 a diff kind of visa(yeah dat can happen) dat wil allow u now play for dem and sch. Life is a risk, if u r as gud as u tink u r, take it.
Thats the best thing you can do. I also gave a folk same idea who jux arrived Portsmouth frm 9ja. I think you can find a small club, not big club like Man U, cos I knw you will have that in mind, in the city of your choice and plead with them you want to be training for free with them cos of your fitness. This could open windows for you too

Other peeps please do drop yours

Who are the abokis? Banks? For tution payment, you can use central bank closest to you. And for GTB mastercard it is no problem over here. Wheneva you want to withdraw cash, you do dat in bulk cos of the bank charge. You will also need a bank account here for some things sha and dis comes with anoda cash card. You can be using the GTB account for transfers from 9ja.
For me I dont like handling cash so I choose to pay with my GTBank card. Incase I need small cash for small runs, I always do cashbacks in shops but must buy small someting.

calebo101: Hello peeps, i am settled in London and everything is going smoothly except for one serious issue. I have hardly eaten a decent meal since i came here. Eating in a restaurant is a very fast way to become broke and dry. I do not know how to cook, really bad and it is making things tough for me. If i can get somebody that can cook and i pay the person i would be really really happy. A pot of Egusi soup grin that can last me for a long time as i do not eat that often and a pot of stew as well. I live in Brixton. For those of you planning on coming, please in the name of God learn to cook. That is really affecting me here now. Please serious advise is needed. Thanks
Its a pity... How much are you willing to pay for the service?

You right. did not think about that. But with £475, they should be able to pool money together to furnish it up depending on how long they are staying for their studies
Actually, I will be staying in the UK for 3 years for my studies. I have finally found a partly furnished flat share on Sedgley drive in south sea, will be moving in on Wednesday. Thanks to all my bosses for your help. I hope to enjoy my stay in Portsmouth.
TravelRe: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by peteafrik88(m): 10:44am On Jan 28, 2013
justwise: [/b]

The problem with those houses is that they are not furnished, no student buys bed, wall-drop and stuff to move into a house. It will cost you even more money to furnish it.
Took a look at them and most were unfurnished and agent leased. I will doing a manual search today to see what I can come up with. Thanx
TravelRe: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by peteafrik88(m): 9:04am On Jan 28, 2013
Sky-walker:
Right, the best thing to do is to find either a 2 bedroom or 1 bedroom and convert the lounge to a bedroom to save cost. You can search on gumtree to find them. There are some there or you can maybe stay in an hotel for a while and look around to get the best deals. Its cheaper if you rent a 2 bedroom as a whole.

I just search some on this website and found 2 bedroom for £475 per month which is not bad but you might have to pay agancy fee and maybe deposit.
http://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/property/2-bedrooms/hampshire/southsea/?price_frequency=per_month&price_max=600&q=Southsea%2C%20Hampshire&radius=0&results_sort=lowest_price
On it now, Boss...

Boss, how far? Has it been confirmed? Heading to Portsmouth today from London, which is about # hours drive from here. See you soon
TravelRe: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by peteafrik88(m): 8:37am On Jan 27, 2013
justwise: With 300 a month including all bills you will get double bedroom accommodation within university area, just pay for 2-3days hotel accommodation and use that time to look for room. Your university has list of private landlords, check in your uni website or email your international center for the list.

Many student houses are around the uni and city center then 20-25mins away to places like fratton park, your uni offers free school bus to many area, so living a bit far will not be a big issue

Got my text from VFS yesterday that my application is processed and ready for collection in Lagos where I applied from. I will be going on friday to collect it.
My lil question is concerning the money I used for the application (Tuition, Accommodation and maintenance money). Can I withdraw em all from my domicillary account, as I intend to deposit it into my Master card savings account before traveling? Or must I leave it till I get over there before making arrangements to get em transfered? Thanx

Well thats roughly the price per year but you can get some cheaper though like £220-£250 per month. You could search here

www.spareroom.co.uk
www.gumtree.com/flatshare-offered/portsmouth

you can get shared accomodation cheaply here and you most likely avoid paying agent fees as most of them are direct from landlord.
Thanx boss.
