OP i can't demand that you accept/not accept my advice. Marriage issues are as important as a family. There is no one who will not be pissed by the non availabilty of resources on his day when you made payment for it. Also what custom demands custom demands. I will not say you are quick to anger but i will ask you to think and choose rightly, you might as well not want to loose your marriage for the sake of your son. I believe a Man should be firm and strong, that is why we are referred as the head of the house. Your wife actually apologised to you so as not to loose face on thr wedding day, i am very much aware that she knew that her mother never made available the required materials needed. Also i will advice that you bring your lawyer into this. Tell your lawyer that you would want to see your son anytime you hope to. You and the lady should sign an MOU after which you can give your son to the mother. I assure you that with the behaviour of the family their daughter can never apologize to you because the mother is solidly behind her. Don't loose your sanity. I don't know if you have no elders who can talk to the mother on wrong doings and correct the daughter. Stand your ground. Tell the mother to ask her daughter why she decides to brake customs as demanded by your people. To me the mother is as guilty as the daugther and they are working hand in hand. They believe you are already married and would succumb that is the way i see it. Next time run a background check on the family first. This is important.

Dear members...i am of the type that says NO to bringing marital shortcomings to the social media but I just realized why others do so.
I formerly got married on Tuesday 18th April but we are already headed for a bitter divorce.

To cut the story short, the whole issue started at the ground of our traditional marriage(Igba Nkwu).
On arriving her dad's compound, I was stunned to realize her mother didn't make the provisions of which I paid her for.
The DJ wasn't on ground, the canopies were just 3 and looking dirty, the chairs were not up to half of what i paid for. There was no light, no microphone, no decorations, the few food cooked were not served to guest and I was devastated.
Out of anger and dissappointment, I started lashing out at my wife and she broke down in tears begging me for forgiveness.
We managed to forge ahead till the the ceremony ended and we headed for my house.
As our tradition demands, the newly married bride sees off her Aso ebis and return in the evening same day to welcome visitors. But alas, my wife went and never came back till Friday evening.

I queried her on her whereabout only for her reply in a harsh manner saying "where do you expect me to be", don't make me angry"
God!! I couldn't believe it as it made me more mad in anger so I asked her to return to wherever she's coming from and leave our son behind(yes we already a year and 10 months old son). I actually made this decision to save face else how do I clarify the absence of my wife and son to visitors and well-wishers trooping in to see them?
She hurriedly dashed into the room and picked her phone and stormed out of the house. Now her mother is accussing me of taking her daughter's son from her and stripping her of her belongings.

Now my wife is saying she's no longer interested in the marriage likewise her people(her father is late). I am still fuming with anger that I am at loss of what to do. I am not prepared to raise my son alone neither do I want him to be raised by her mother alone.

Should I initiate a peace move and apologize to her or should I move on with life.....I am seriously confused and fuming with anger that I was shortchanged and offended and still expected to offer apologies.

I lost my smartphone last week Thursday, and my Laptop developed a fault on Saturday, so I had gone to the University of Ibadan (U.I) to see if I could get on the Internet at a Cyber Cafe. Most of the ones I was directed to were closed, and then on my way to a barber shop, I saw this neatly arranged tray of Bananas and Groundnut. I looked up at the person selling them, and there was something about the girl that made me believe she had a story people would love to hear.

After getting the haircut, I walked up to her and bought groundnut and then told her I wanted to write about her. She agreed to give me audience, and then I found out she had been helping her mom out with the trade since she was in Secondary school, and now she more or less handled it herself. She got into the National Open University of Nigeria, Ibadan campus to study Theology in 2013/2014 session, and continued with the banana and groundnut business.

She told me she would go for lectures three times a week, and then come to her normal spot (where we were seated) opposite Sultan Bello Hall in U.I to sell groundnuts, coconuts, banana, and oranges (during the season). Her story kind of reminded me of Linda Ikeji, and how Linda used to sell at beer Sheraton Hotel to support herself during her time at University of Lagos. The fact that this girl decided to be independent and make money from selling fruits in the time when young pretty girls like her would rather depend on men to take care of them made me write this article. I felt her story needed to be shared with the world.














Her name is Vivian Okpara, and she is in her final year at the Nigerian Open University in Ibadan. Although she grew up in Ibadan and can speak Yoruba fluently, she is from Ogu Opa in Enugu state. Vivian is in her mid twenties, and would be rounding up her studies at N.O.U.N early next year. When I asked her what she wanted to do after school, she said she would like to open a big fruits store, and do business on a large scale in this area. The way she spoke about it with passion was so captivating.


In the Nigeria of today, we need more young people like Vivian. I am calling on anyone with the means to do so to assist this young girl actualize her dreams. I was chilling with a friend this evening and we got talking about a mutual friend of ours who supposedly slept with her ex boyfriend. She actually caught the lady in her ex's house so it was not a hearsay or something.

This is not a hatred towards Glo network. I believe it is high time someone spoke out concerning the injustice of Glo network. I loaded a card of 2k subscribed for data @#500 for 1GB .. My marriage to my wife is facing a serious challenge, after I discovered from my wife's WAEC certificate, that the date of her birth on the result is 6 years more than what she told me and what has been in all her non academic documents, including her C.V. Actually, i have seen all her academic certificates, including her NYSC discharge certificate, but never saw her S.S.C.E and FSLC results that normally bear dates of birth. Each time i ask her for them in order to compile all the credentials for job application purposes, she would tell me that her WAEC, NECO and primary school results are in a box, with her mum in thier home town; that she would ask her mum to bring them. I gnomo her mum lager came with them for her.

Eventually, a serious sure job came for which i would need these credentials to forward to the organization. She gave me the WAEC result with the excuse that age forgot the NECO and FSLC in her current office, which she promised to bring. Lol and behold! What i saw on the WAEC result is a date of birth 6 years higher than what she told me and what is in her C.Vs.

I called her attention and she started giving me excuses that hold no water. She is saying that the same DOB were erroneously registerd for her when, perhaps they were registering her for both WAEC and NECO. That when the results came out and she noticed the errors, she complained and applied to correct same, but since then, the exam authorities have not corrected them. I have not come to terms with the this discovery. I think this may cause us peace, thrust and love in pur marriage.

My brothers and sisters, i think am contemplating of what action to take against her and am contemplating a divorce, but our two children are still very small for this. I want to report this issue to her family and mine. Am gradually withdrawing my trust for her.

I need matured advice and suggestions that will see me through this.
