@Kobo and Dapo

Thanks for these talk and i am very interested as well but do we continue here or create a new thread?

Anyway dapo, your idea is noble but in most Nigerian schools i think they always have a recommended book for each subject. You can as well get other books, some of these books are new while some are used books so different prices. Have you considered the effort of those who made these textbooks? how are they going to reap their profits with these kind of arrangement?

Whatever the suggestion might be i think cost and feasibility of any proposal should be at the front burner. Electricity and internet connection cost are not cheap. I believe a simple ebook reader will be the best solution for these kind of project, i have been thinking towards that angle for a long time now. Just that most ereaders are expensive compared to Nigeria standard, i am closely watching the $35 India ereader project in the works.

We are moving in the right direction but these universities needs support, funding and adequate policies. They need to be linked with the industries through research and development. Governments, students, school authorities and everyone concerned should get themselves involved. I see no reason why we can't have at least three mini silicon valleys in Nigeria at this moment. one or two is enough in each geopolitical zone.

Nairaland has a role to play in it but all we see in the education section makes the word pitiful pleasant in the mouth. sad
Mallam Pharoh, how in the world did you reach your conclusion? What does IBB have to do with me or my post?  I would have liked to read your comments on the attrocities committed by southerners agianst ndigbo during the said Arabas.  An apology to Ndigbo on behalf of ya brothers would have been sufficient. olodo
IBB has everything to do with your gentleman's agreement mentality that does not exist and has been proven to be a fallacy. The pogroms was carried out by northerners on the Igbos and "if" i mean really if there were some mid-westerners or southerner's involved, It is a very negligible and insignificant amount. Your attempt to divide the south is very lame and childish, you should try harder next time and come with a better trick.

There is no way a northerner will ever be a president in Nigeria for the next 20 years, the country will rather explode if it comes to that.
Politics › Re: Wasting Our Money On Pilgrimage. by Pharoh: 10:04pm On Nov 21, 2010
Any president that stops funding the pilgrimage will just find himself in hot soup.

So let us keep on chopping the money but create bottlenecks for abuses.
And you said this happened before the war ? When exactly poster .
I think between the first and second coup.

This eyewitness account should serve as a warning to other Delta Igbos and Delta Non-Igbos, who like their fellow kinsman, Nzeogwu Chukwuma Kaduna, could act foolishly and cause similar Arabas or worse to recurr. Let us hope GEJ would thread very lightly. It is not too late for him to withdraw from the presidential race. A gentleman's agreement should be just that. As OBJ would say, this is not the time for rascality.

Nwata erughi eru juwa ihe mere nna,ihe mere nna ya emee ya (A child must wait until he is of age before inquiring into what killed his father or else, what killed his father will also kill him).
So you are coming now to say this because IBB is now the consensus candidate of the north? Goodluck is going to contest and win and nothing will happen.

We are no longer in 1960's and there are no more monopolies to violence.

Na waitin Ibo dey wait for sef? Make unu comot nah make we hear word. I mean, na who una dey treating with division sef? I don tire to hear this for 1000 yrs.
Everyone is in for a united and forward moving Nigeria but the present structure does not allow that. If Nigeria was progressing, no one will ask for division but as it is not then the right thing to do is to ask for a division. A united progressive Nigeria is an option and a breakaway biafra is another option. The united Nigerian option is not working so they are asking for the second option.

The ibos rather than seccede should build the eastern economy, they should make foreing trade the engine of their economy. Their economy should be an integrated export oriented economy that will not be prone to the hiccups of nigerias politically unstable monoeconomy.

The ibos need to get their energy sector stable and independent of nigeria, also the should get River niger dredged to the sea and an international airport to complement.
All the ibo citizens lazing away in yoruba land and the north can be given good incentive to relocate to the east ,such as good job with relocation allowance.
All human resources from ibo land working in germany, canada and america will have a good role to play to invest in heavy industries and high tech industries that can bail out
Ibo land, automobiles and electronics produced will be exported to earn forex.

Oil will not be a exportable commodity in the next 5 years. Electric cars are coming
It is easier said than done and more difficult doing it within the present Nigerian situation hence making succession the best option.
