The person has only NYSC work experience as a recent graduate, is in his 20s, and do not want to go for masters program in Nigeria.

Pls, I have searched the threads and did not find an answer to my question.

Please, I want to know whether I should fill in the address of the different states I did my NYSC and also the state I schooled as part of my address history, Post ITA? They are all within Nigeria.
Or do I just indicate my family house as my address for the past ten years, to cover the period I was in school since I still came back to the same family house during holidays.

Or does the address history cover times lived in different countries only.

As part of evidence of work, can I attach a reference letter which is in the IRCC format, and printed on the organization letter head but unsigned/unstamped?

And add it to the stamped "to whom it may concern letter " I was given by the organization, Then give an LOE.

I have a letter but the person in charge won't also sign.

Jbelieve:

You can get a supervisor or someone senior to you in tue organisation to do reference for you. Especially if the person is your friend and can be trusted. Letter can be on A4 the person can attach their company ID card to the letter. Dont use letter head just to avoid problems for that person. You should also add salary evidence, pay slip, your ID. If you cant get a senior coleauge to sign for you, explain that you couldn't get letter from the HR from the company to sign just attach all the evidence that you worked in that company. ID card pay slip Employment letter etc.

I also think the letter can be used like that dont worry too much about the nysc part.

Thank you for the response.
But can a former colleague who has also left this organization to a new office, but also worked with me during the same period, do this attestation of the job duties for me?? But she has no ID card from the place embarassed cry
I am asking because the organization is in a different state far away and I don't have the luxury to keep travelling down there. But this colleague also moved with me to the new state.

topeolu1:
This may not be sufficient. You may need to get a staff there who is familiar with your JD while serving to provide additional reference for you stating all your duties performed on plain sheet and get this letter notarized. S/he to attach his business card and/or staff ID. Add this to what you have from your erstwhile boss

Pls I am in a fix and need help.

I am filing out the application post ITA, and I am claiming points for NYSC work experience.
I didn't write NYSC as the organization name, I wrote the name of my PPA.

Now, on going to get job reference Letter from my PPA, the director of admin who is in charge, vehemently refused to sign the reference letter in IRCC format, seized it and instead gave me a ,"to whom it may concern letter " of 3 lines. Which states that I did NYSC in the organization, stated the job title, dept, and also I was hardworking and should be giving the necessary assistance.

My question is; 1). since this reference letter stated that the work I did was NYSC,...do I need to add NYSC as the organization name, in addition to my PPA, while filling the application now? Or still leave just the PPA as organization name?

2) Secondly, the letter is not in IRCC format, so I intend writing an LOE for this reference letter and indicate the start and end date of the work, hours of work, and duties
Also include NYSC discharge certificate
And statement of account for the period,( both the PPA salary account and allowee account, which are in different banks)

Pls, which of the above is not necessary and which is?

3) What do I explain as the reason for not getting the reference letter,as the admin claims its a one year work and not full time?

Good morning all.

Please I have some questions.
1. During NYSC, I was paid by my PPA with First bank account and NYSC paid my allowee into Access bank.

How do I report my salary in the job reference letter? Will I have to submit the account statement for these two different banks?

Good evening all.

Please for those who in the past, used WES for evaluation, is it necessary to include that the ECA report be couriered to me the applicant, that is at an extra cost, along side been sent to IRCC.

I realised I selected that option, and the money was deducted from my account. Please, is there a way to cancel that option and get a refund embarassed, if its not necessary to have the hard copy of ECA report at hand.

Good evening.
Please, does the amount of money documented and used as POF has to continually be in the account up until you get to Canada? What if there is need to use a part of the money here in Nigeria before leaving, will that constitute a problem with the law/process in Canada.

In essence, upon landing in Canada, is there any requirement that involves an agency or body in Canada, demanding to see or that you have the exact amount you stated as proof of fund while still in Nigeria?

Joromi12:

1- yes it has to be in your accout( is it not your settlement fund It has to follow u to canny too.

But then, the plan actually is to get the work experience up to 3 years, which seems to give higher points in CRS, than using only the internship and NYSC which is 2years experience.

Arosam:

Provided the nature of business on your CAC cert includes eye section if not it will not fly. Why not use your internship and NYSC?

Good morning all.
Pls, I have a question with regards to this family business.

An optometrist(eye doctor) who did not take up a job after NYSC, but rather sets up a mini eye clinic in their family pharmacy, where he does consultations, offers treatments and gets paid by the patients, even though this clinic was not registered with the board and CAC, but the pharmacy is registered.

Hope he can claim job reference as having worked in the eye care section of the pharmacy while, still maintaining the NOC for Optometrist?

With that, there is no form of salary structure, since its like a self employment, each payment by clients is done to him directly, how can this be reflected in the job reference?

Thank you very much for taking out time to give this detailed response. Its really enlightening.

Permit me to ask please,...how can one find/ join these co-op programs, mentorship network, internships you mentioned?
How do we get these links to volunteer in career fields, so as to build the Canadian experience, as you mentioned?

ladymarshall:

Hmm!
Your question struck a very very deep nerve in me. Our sweet mothers!!! I was in the same shoes when I relocated to Western Europe. My mum had the same worries because she cares. I was young (still), single without a committed relationship grin, knew absolutely
no one and was according to her, "too ambitious" (we all know the myth that "too ambitious" ladies rarely find husbands, lol). My aunties ridiculed her for that and she almost stopped me. But what's done was done. I moved!

Her mother's concerns are very valid, not because it makes logical sense in the context of material and career prosperity and/or true happiness since it is an established fact that the marriage institution itself does not lead to happiness or fulfillment, but rather the sharing of joys and burdens as well as companionship and children with THE RIGHT PERSON is the real happiness. Take the right person out of the equation, and marriage is useless, becoming a daily torture and a lifelong bore. Her mom's concerns are valid because she is a product of the Nigerian society which overvalues early marriage for ladies and see late marriage or no marriage as a life problem. Every Nigerian mother's fear is her daughter marrying too "late" or not at all, every Nigerian girl fears singlehood from 30 and we all know the stigma of being single post-30. But I am not interested in speaking to whether these fears are founded on myths or unrealistic cultural values or the twisted genderized concept of biological clocks, etc. Let me just answer your question directly.

1. If "easy" means having a powerful uncle or aunty that will get her jobs without merit, only just by submitting cv and lobbying, or having family and people around her do things for her with little effort on her part or getting people's mercy or pity, when you provide a sentimental story, or getting someone to help you pay bills when it is solely your responsibility to, then Canada will not be "easy".
If "easy" means working very hard for what you want and getting it on the basis of merit without nepotic connections, then Canada is "easy". If "easy" means earning a salary or doing business, paying your taxes and trusting the government to deliver good roads, rule of law, security, health system, in short a country that truly works, then Canada is easy. If "easy" means doing adequate research on living in Canada, networking when necessary, applying diligently for jobs, patiently trusting in God to bless our efforts and eventually getting a good job, then Canada is "easy". If "easy" means what you put in the system is what you get out, then Canada is "easy".
If "easy" means escaping all of life problems, not falling sick at all, living forever, not working hard for money but becoming wealthy, just because she flies to abroad where white people are, then Canada is not easy, neither is Nigeria, neither is the world. So what exactly does mumsy mean by "easy" or "not easy"?
Nigerians are diverse, we think differently, not all of us here think the streets of Canada are littered with gold, some of us here know we may have to do survival jobs if it gets so bad for a short time before we transit to good jobs, and we're still going to Canny, so what does momsy mean when she says "as Nigerians think it is". One thing is sure, her daughter will find a bearing, and start life, and a good career, but how soon? We cannot say because we are not God and cannot see the future but many Nigerians are doing fine there and even those not doing fine yet, will do fine over time. It always gets better with hardwork, focus and determination. It is not realistic to expect that you relocate to a different country, continent, culture totally alien to yours and instantly adjust seamlessly. Your body, mind and belief system need adequate time to adjust, I know this because it's the same adjustment process with where I live. How open her daughter's mindset and expectations are will determine how well she will adjust. But she will, she is human, and when push comes to shove and the race for the survival of the fittest occurs, her human instincts will lead her. How strong are her instincts?

2. Her daughter knows no one in Canny? It's not a problem. I know no one too, at least not family or friends. But now I am just knowing those who have just landed and are about to land. And they will clear ground for us grin We build connections and networks one day at a time. I knew no one when I just moved to my current country and I still got on very well fine and built powerful networks and mentors in the shortest time possible and heck I don't even speak their language so well. So imagine if i am in an English country. My career took off well and the only limitation now is residency and passport which I would get here if I am patient enough for 5 years but nope, too long, I'm impatient, Canada is the answer today today grin And I am ready to start afresh, no looking back.
Let me tell you that having or knowing families over there beforehand has little bearing on one's chances of success in Canada. In fact if one is not careful, listening to family in Canny as a JJC without comparing it with your own research can be your undoing. Let me blow your mind, I know someone through a former coursemate referral who I reached out to for advice since she is on ground in my first choice province. She got there some months ago and went to live with her aunty and she told me I must do survival jobs first when I land. Puzzled, I asked her if the mentorship networks, co-op programs and internships she tried out did not work out in the first few months, she told me her family did not tell her that but advised her to do survivals in hair salons immediately while she's looking for her career jobs. (P.s she's not on nairaland, and didn't access these resources). Sis didn't even know those programs existed grin Imagine! I told her straight away to leave that job and get relevant Canadian experience that can aid her job search. Abi what will arranging attachments in a hair salon do on the CV of someone searching for bank jobs? grin When it's not that she wants to get Canadian hair stylist certificate. They say we should get Canadian experience, she's doing Kanada experience grin grin Anyway I sent her the links and she has signed up for two already and just started volunteering in her career field. We've been prepping for upcoming interviews via skype. I give her 2 months max, she will get something good. And based on my advice, she will move out of that her aunty's house asap. Abi what's the point of having family that have hidden useful life-changing information from her, about to turn her to housegirl, is not like they gave her sibling points, family without value. Nonsense grin grin
The point of the story is while it's good to have family and friends on ground, most of momsy's daughter's success will come from her personal efforts, guts, research, career-specific networks. Success is not exclusive to people who have family there before. Momsy's daughter might be a disruptor and her success might be much faster than those who have been living there for long. She will thrive better when momsy supports her dreams with prayers and encouragement. So rather worrying over future uncertainties, can momsy please redirect her approach and encourage her baby girl instead? Mumsy should tell her daughter that as long as she is happy with her choices and it is what she wants to do, she is willing to support and pray for her and let God bless her efforts. And pray that God gives her good husband in Canada instead of discouraging her travel plans.

3. Regarding the marriage issue/worry, I will address the lady directly not the mother. It's her life, her mother has lived hers. Whether or not the lady will be happy or depressed as a single in Canada depends a lot on her, not her mother. What is her relationship temperament? To what degree is she gamophobic or anuptaphobic? People tend to lean more towards one than the other.
If she is a moderate or chronic gamophobic, she will thrive very well in Canada. It's an individualistic lifestyle over there. There will be so many other engagements that will take her mind off relationships, if she is socially inclined, she will probably only remember she is single when sexual needs arises, when she sees PDA in public, or when she talks to family back home or depending on what kind of friends she has and she will handle it well grin In this case, she will need to handle the mother's pressures tactfully too avoid it getting to her. She knows her mom better than anyone else grin

If she is anuptaphobic, to what degree? If it's moderate. She should just note these: If she eventually moves to Canada, there is no guarantee she will find a good marriage mate. Good marriage mates are not exclusive to a location. There are good and bad marriageable potential (Nigerian) men everywhere. Fact is Canada's dating culture is not as vibrant and robust as Nigeria, I have researched this and having lived in a similar country. Canadians are very conservative and it is normal for people (both Canadians and Nigerian-Canadians) to be very skeptical of newcomers, especially as issues of culture and jobs come on. No one wants a financial or cultural burden in a country where bills and cultural misunderstandings occur and if the goal is long-term commitment not just the regular satisfaction of sexual needs, relationships will take time to germinate and grow. Also because Canada is a country where the system works even for women as long she works hard, relationship style will differ. She would have to unlearn and reevaluate a lot of things that the Nigeria dating scene has taught her. E.g How do you impress your man? For many bachelors living alone in Canada, cooking is a survival skill they had to learn to cut costs, so cooking jollof rice well might not exactly impress them. Washing cloth and sweeping well? No need, there's vacuum cleaner and washing machine. Sex? Maybe but sex is not exactly a taboo or a weapon or sacred in that society as we think it in Nigeria, there is little or no stigma about it in the West, Intelligence? Maybe but literacy rate in Canada is 99% and the average Canadian is informed. Good behavior? In a immigration country with so many cultures mixing, the definition and expectation of "good" is very relative. Also what does her man need to do to impress her? if it's Nigeria, I'd say "na money be fine bobo", but in a country where economic opportunities are almost equal and attainable, money alone and "giving" may not necessarily cut it for her, there's tendency for her to desire more from her man, which extends dating time. Also she needs to factor in race issues as a black woman, we are unique grin Being black among whites or very fair skins is kinda a good thing if she can pull it off grin

If the lady is a chronic anuptaphobic and her self-esteem is seriously dependent on marrying. One alternative is to travel first and then mumsy can help her find a lucky naija man who she will come home to marry and sponsor abroad. I don't usually advice this because true intentions are difficult to decipher, it's 50:50 I have a girlfriend who did this successfully but both families knew each other before one family relocated so there was familiarity before. They've been married for a few years and I'm expecting my first godchild grin I have another friend who did this but divorced after 2 months. Oga JJC was after paper not love and he couldn't even hide it or pretend grin Sis got crazy and sent him back. I assisted her with packing into her new home post-divorce as per new life, new goals grin grin
Another alternative is to hurriedly find a man and get married before she leaves Naija to satisfy her longing for companionship, calm any fears and make her mother happy. But like they say, "if you rush too soon, you rush too out" Divorce is not a big deal in Canada so why rush in?
Lastly, she can decide to test Canada out, if she finds a mate (which I think she might) fine, if not, she can decide to get her passport first, then return to Nigeria, marry and stay while enjoying the mobility and rights that Canadian passport gives. I have two acquaintances who couldn't cope with the limited dating scene here and had to return to Naija to find a man. They're married and living in Naija now, yaaay grin grin I can't do that though but they claim to be happy and that is all that matters grin

Apologies for the long story and clogging the page, but I really liked your question and I am passionate about women and girls issues, although I love men too grin so I gave my opinion with a passion cheesy grin

Good morning nairalanders.

Please, permit me to ask an abstract question,......pls, how does one deal with a mum who is skeptical about her single daughter leaving Nigeria to Canada.
On grounds that the said daughter is not married, and needs to get married in Nigeria first, because she may not find a good Nigerian man to settle with in Canada and she is getting older (even when the daughter in question has no current relationship that could lead to marriage).
And the mum also thinks that life abroad is not as easy as Nigerians think it is, coupled with the financial requirements for the express entry been expensive.

Pls, for those who have idea of these things, or are in Canada, how easy is it to find a bearing, and start life, career and otherwise, especially for a single lady who knows no one in Canny, except a cousin to her friend, who she has never met.
What are your opinions?
The lady has already began the process, ECA in progress, and IELTS soon.

Congrats sis.
May the journey of life henceforth be sweetest.

deboks:
Its PPR!!!!!!!!!
I can't wipe the smile of my face!!!
Its been a long long long Journey... But as we say and as it has been true and trusted..." It shall end in praise!!"

Long post Alert!!

So... I heard about this process through my best friend. Her husband was the PA and he live in a different town from her. I also didn't live in the same town with either of them. She only knew when it was time for Medicals that her husband had commenced the process. She didn't know much about the whole process

Anyways, when i was a kid i went to an american
boarding primary school made for white missionary kids. As their parents where in the vainyard their children needed a school they could go to which they could then proceed to high school another american school in Nigeria or go to America. So from the age of 5 i was introduced " the american life". We were only 5 Nigerians in my class. The other Nigerians were from rich families. Mind you my Dad was a pastor with ECWA ...on Very little pay. A church member told my dad he was lead to put me in that school. There was no way my parents could afford it. I was sponsored from grade 1 to grade 6. By the time i was ready for secondary school my scholarship was over. I proceeded to the best Nigerian school my parents could provide. It was different, i was made fun off cause of my accent. I still had hopes that one day i will see that America that i had learned so much of and sang the anthem so well. After secondary school i was one of them students everyone thought i was going abroad. I wrote SAT and TOFEL and i did well but not enough to get full scholarship. One day my dad ( now late) called me and told me " Adadaddy, you know my salary and you know i don't have anyone that will help with this desire. God has not laid it in my heart to ask any church member. " By the way my dad was an orphan from the age of 11 and he does not have a brother or sister, just him alone till he married my mom and had his own family. My mother is the first child in her family and all her siblings at one time or the other were living with us and my dad paid for their school fees, So they to were also just starting off in life.
After my dad told me this i broke down and made any dream of living abroad Die. die die die die. Tops i will do all the best i can finish with a 1st class of least 2-1 in law school so i can get a good job and one day go abroad for vacation and come back. I will make it in this country i told myself. yea secondary school peeps laughed at me... But yeah i kept my promise to my self i went to Dubai and India for vacation while working. Was proud of my self... But that living abroad...i told myself it was not for me.

Fast forward to when my friend told me about the FSW. I Couldn't believe i had almost everything required to apply. Can i resurrect this desire i had buriesdso many years ago?

Because my best friend's husband was is in a different state and he was a banker he couldn't hold my hand through the process as much as i knew they would have wanted to help.

I first applied for IELTS January 2018. Thought results was OK didnt know 7.5 in listen was a NO No. Me believing in my american English wetin go dey there that i can't pass. Also i had never failed an exam before in my life... anyhow after results showed... I told myself it was cause i didnt read. I wrote again in March I read for this particular test but. At this time i saw 7.5 again in Listening... I kukuma tell myself it was a sign from God... This was not for me... Was angry... why God will let me know about this process just to limit me at the first stage.
Called by best friend cried out my eyes and she somehow encouraged me to write again i wrote again.. I focused on Listening... My weakness. This time i smashed dead. . got a 9 in listening.
Then i started ECA... No body tell me say na just Msc.. Na so i process my LLb, that one cost me money... From an easter university... Men that one cost big time. then Law school ... Law school can be slow for transcripts... Then Msc for uni jos. Na so i do cross country...East west north parts of Nigeria for transcripts... Verification from WES another hustle... Asking all these institutions if they have received WES mail... No be small thing.

She sha... The day ECA arrived i jump inside pool that same day i got ITA. August 8th... Na so i dey feel good... This time i believed God was on my side...i had all my documents... And waited to September to do medicals.
AOR September 15th 2018. I and my dad were very very close. He meant the world to me...he was my first best friend. Though he was a pastor you could tell him anything... Like i told him the when i first has sex...i need someone to hold me accountable cause i didn't want to do it again till i got married. My dad prayed with me and never said anything to mom. he said it was my secret and it was up to me to tell her. But it was best to tell her the day or a day before i was getting married. But i must tell my future husband to be when i knew the relationship was getting serious. Lols.

I went to my dad's grave and told him i was about to submit my application. i submitted... And went home.
I thought tops my application will be approved tops 3 months. I screen shot people PPR stories that were early... Sidelined the ones that took too long ...God just dey do me big Yimu!

Na so silence after MEP /BIO
Nothing... I am the oldest daughter my younger sister is married... The youngest is getting ready... Am the only singer senior female staff in my office... Things seems to be happening for others except me. ... Trust villagers extended relatives to make fun of me to my face and to my Mother... They would say" who go marry this one"... Very close Family friends would ask me what wanted them to pray for i told them i wanted PPR most were shocked as they expected me to say marriage. I told God i want PPR first... perhaps my husband dey wait for me for Canada... As i don dey naija all my life husband no show...na white man i go marry get Carmel babies. Lols.. Or black man but my babies will be Canadians.

Na so people i applied with were getting PPR after three months... In face most of them have landed... Ottawa no reply me. I called CIC every month yet nothing. Is settled my mind to Six months.. I told myself las las they go give me before 6month timeline go reach.

6 months do and pass...that's when depression the stare at me in the face...

I went to Ghana for a short vacation to get out of the circumstances of my life. i didn't want to go far just in case there was an ADR or PPR. am grateful for Ghana. It put things in perspective and i had reached that point that i was fine either way... Whether PPR came or not.
I came back May 8th 2019.

Friday, May 10th 2019 few days to 8 months post AOR i saw i got an update. I quickly checked... It was a ghost update. Na so they next saga started. I called CIC on Monday 13th May, the agent told me that i should expect a letter soon. I waited( thought 8 months was long... Na this was the longest wait) till Friday 17th May. I called CIC again. This time i was told congratulations by the agent that my application had been approved on 13th May 2019 and i should have received a letter from AVO. i said ah wetin AVO and me get in common as my application was in Ottawa all this while. He said they issued it to AVO to send it to me. I told him i was sure i didnt not receive any email. He them forwarded Accra's email address and said i should email them telling them i was aware that my application was approved and i was yet to receive any letter.
I sent the email immediately. Didn't hear from them after 4 days... Called again Friday 23rd May. This time the agent said he will send an email to AVO and if i still didn't receive a letter within 2 weeks i should call them again.
Ah Sunday i decided to tell oga Raphl MP wetin day go on. I email him yesterday.
Today was at work as usual, around 3pm i got an email from CIO not AVO. They said they were sure AVO sent a Ready for VISA Letter on 13th May 2019. That i should check my junk, spam, and inbox but if i was sure i didn't receive the email i should reply. Omo i check my mails again for checking sake... And replied them immediately... For my mind i said tops they would respond in a week. But about 3:30pm i received the Golden Mail!!!

Yes if you read my earlier post... immediately called my family not to tip toe any more... That it had landed... Ah you can imagine my mom's joy... It was more than mine... She said now when the extended relatives bring me up in their jist to mock her... She will say ... Eh... She dey obodo oyibio... They go shock eh!!! You know Nigerian and the respect they give you when you have a child abroad Lols.

DECISION TO TRAVEL

The decision to travel was made after a close friend of mine told me he was moving to Canada with his family in July 2016. Previously, I was not keen on leaving Nigeria mainly because of the perceived cost of such a decision and the choice not to take any desperate steps to leave Nigeria illegally. When my very close family friend left, I reconsidered my position and decided to make plans to move to Canada with my wife and son.

FIRST IELTS
My first ielts was written in September 2016 and my score was LRSW 6.5,7,7,8. I was not informed about maximizing my scores back then hence I took no steps in that direction. My spouse also wrote the test in early 2017 and her scores were ok...I can’t remember the exact scores now.

ECA
I started processing my unilag transcript in October 2016 and went through the usual delays at unilag. As at that time, I had just finished my Master’s degree in the school so I had to wait a few more weeks to send my Master’s degree request to CES, the evaluation body I used. It took about 6 months before i finally got my evaluation report. In between, my wife evaluated her 2 post secondary certificates with WES and obtained her evaluation report also.

ENTERING THE POOL
We finally entered the pool in July 2017 and were hoping for a miracle. While waiting, my spouse was reading through some information about the Canadian language benchmark equivalent of our ielts scores and we wrongly interpreted that it was these CLB equivalent that needs to be imputed as our English scores in our Express entry profile. When we imputed our CLB equivalent, our scores jumped to 442 and we got ITA with the following draw in 0ctober 2017.

REFUSAL LETTER
We were ignorantly excited and gathered all the necessary documents, submitted our application ,went for the medical exams and paid the necessary fees in December 2017. We ignorantly started making plans for our transition early 2018. The bubble burst happened in Jan 2018 when our application was refused!
This was the turning point for us, the moment of truth. When we discovered our error of ignorance, we made adjustments and I was more determined to make this Canadian dream happen with help from above.
JUMPING THE IELTS HURDLE
I think it was at this point that I discovered this thread and learnt about the need to max my ielts scores. I was approaching my 35th birthday in June and knew I had to make this happen before my next birthday in 2018.
So I booked for my 2nd ielts in February and wrote it in March 2018. The scores released early April was LRSW 9,7,8,6.5. I was disappointed that my writing scores dropped significantly but I knew there was no room for pity party as June was coming! That same day that I saw my English test scores, i immediately booked for the next available date in late May. I doubled my practice in listening and reading using all available resources pointed out. I particularly enjoyed using edx tutorials, ieltstestonline.com and Liz. I also used Jay’s tutorials on speaking and writing.
After my final ietls exams, i was expectant of a good set of scores because I knew the favour of God was upon me and I had done my bit with preparations. The morning in early June when I saw my scores was a beautiful one and my scores were LRSW 9,8.5,7.5,7. My crs score was now 451!

SECOND ITA
After my final ielts scores and my improved crs, I promptly received ITA in the next draw in early June and the cutoff score was same as my CRS...451. I was super excited and I submitted my application 10 days after got ITA because I had gathered my documents ahead and I also had a valid medicals that had not expired.

AOR
After AOR, I was checking my profile almost every day and very active on this thread. Everything was running smoothly and I was really expectant that my application would be approved before my 1st medicals expire. In October 2018, I got an update on my account that my background check had started and I had even ordered gcms notes a month earlier.

THE MEDICAL HURDLE
After the background check update, I got a request to redo medicals for me and my family. We promptly booked for our medicals although the preferred choice of children’s practice was no longer available and booking had become serious hotcake! I came to this house and appealed for slots and swaps back then. I finally got an opening with IOM and we went for the medical exams in November 2018. During my physical examination, a large size tumour was observed and I was referred to a specialist for more information.
This was the point where my story took a big turn, the final diagnosis after batteries of medical tests was that it was cancerous and I decided immediately to go for a surgery in Nigeria in the earlier part of 2019 and improve my chances of a good medical review.
Surgery and recovery took about 4 months and the Canadian dream had to play second fiddle to my health. After surgery, I submitted a number of reports to IRCC as requested and was also asked to prepare to submit another follow-up report six months post surgery.

HEALING...AND SURPRISE PPR
This period between Nov 2018 and May 2019 were one of the toughest of my young life. Thank God for my faith in God and my knowledge of God’s Word! I took full advantage of my understanding of God’s Word to claim my healing and full health restoration while confessing God’s favour over my application. I sincerely was looking forward to July when I was asked to submit another report and was surprised by God when my PPR request came in on the 22nd May,2019.
I was not as excited as I would have been if it had come before the end of 2018 but I am grateful to God for His goodness. I have grown in leaps and bounds in this journey of faith and my Canadian dream. I have no regrets about the refusal and the medical delay because as my mantra was throughout the toughest season of my life...ALL IS WELL AND WORKING FOR MY ADVANTAGE!
Its PPR after about 11 months post AOR...it has ENDED IN PRAISE...the next phase will be far better on the other side.
On a final note, let everyone stand strong... you will tell a beautiful story at the end if you believe and do not give up!
Peace!

Good day house.

Please, I want to enquire, which part of Canada will be best suitable for an Optometrists who will be relocating from Nigeria, so as to get licensed and find a job, and subsequently also pursue a dream of second degree in Medicine.

Please, answers and opinions are much needed. Thanks.

Good day, nairalanders.

Pls, I have a question.

A health care personnel here in Nigeria, wishes to study for a second degree in medicine in Canada, but due to the cost of tuition in Canada is contemplating trying out the permanent residency.

So, when he gets to Canada, he can work for a while with his first degree and save up for the second degree he dreams of.

Pls, is there any contrary better option, opinion or advice

What about a person who already has a degree, health-related from Nigeria, but intends to study medicine in Canada, would he still go through the 4-year preparatory course??

kasyjoe:
Most of the information yo guys are posting here about studying medicine in Canada are wrong. Before yo apply for medicine in Canada yo must first complete a four (4) medical preparatory course and then ya grade upon graduation, will determine the school that gonna accept yo. Ion really know where some nairalanders are getting misleading information.
