A member of the House of Representatives, representing Alimosho Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Solomon Adeola, has said that the Federal Government, under President Goodluck Jonathan, has failed to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians. Adeola, who is currently a senatorial candidate of his party seeking to represent the Lagos West Senatorial District in the February 2015 elections, said this at an interactive forum with journalists on Tuesday at the Ladi Lawal Press Centre in Lagos. Speaking on the issue of government expenditure and budget implementation at the federal level, Adeola, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, explained that while the Federal Government’s budget was in the region of N4.9tn, the total expenditure of the government within a fiscal year was about N20.4tn. He said, “I say this without fear or favour, the government at the centre has not been sincere to Nigerians. I can write them off as a failed government. The budget declared to Nigerians is about N4.9tn But the other extra-ministerial and departmental spending, which do not come with the main budget, is about N16tn. The entire expenditure of the Federal Government at various levels is over N20.4tn, but what is disclosed to Nigerians is about N4.9tn. “Even within the budget of N4.9tn, there is what we call service wide vote, which I call budget within a budget. This is an amount of money set aside for emergencies. There is no breakdown or items of expenditure for the service wide votes. Spending from the vote is discretionary and it is only the Minister of Finance, the Director General of Budget and the President that can access the funds. “We have had situations where there are no emergencies, yet the service wide vote has performed more than the original budget of the country. This goes to show that the government is not being sincere and has failed Nigerians.” He opposed state creation on the grounds that it was not economically viable. Adeola also accused the government of financial recklessness and corruption, saying that Nigerians should be paying less for petroleum products now. www.punchng.com/news/jonathans-government-corrupt/ |
The United States government has thrown its weight behind the Federal Government to conduct this year’s general elections despite the fact that the country is facing security challenges. This view was expressed on Tuesday at the US Department of States’ daily briefing in Washington. The US government also said that the recent incessant attacks by the Boko Haram insurgents could be as a result of the approaching general elections in Nigeria. “There has been a sharp escalation in the number of reported casualties. I think the numbers tend to be from about 2009 to 2013 – there were a little over 1,000 casualties. I mean, we’ve obviously all seen the reported numbers just this week – which we can’t confirm exactly, but it clearly shows there’s been a sharp escalation. “It’s because Boko Haram has tended to, particularly around something like an election, used political issues or sensitivities to try and inflame tensions. We’ve seen that as one of their tactics, and that’s why it’s so important to move forward with the election, because we believe it’s important. Well, I don’t want to prejudge. “We’ve seen successful elections go forward in places that have pretty significant levels of violence. So, we believe the election should go forward. We know there are security challenges. We do think that the election is probably a factor. As I said, we believe the election should still go forward, even in the face of this pretty horrific violence,” Marie Harf, the US spokeswoman, told journalists. According to her, the US government will continue to assist President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in fighting terrorism, despite the fact that a training programme by the US for Nigeria’s military personnel was cancelled by Nigeria late last year source: www.punchng.com/news/us-links-rising-bharam-attacks-to-elections/ |

The ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party in the House of Representatives further depleted on Wednesday as eight more members defected from the majority party. Four of the defectors joined the rival All Progressives Congress. The All Progressives Grand Alliance gained two of the defectors, while the Peoples Democratic Movement and the Social Democratic Party each gained one, bringing the total PDP defectors on Wednesday to eight. All the members either cited dissatisfaction with the conduct of the party’s last primaries or divisions in its fold as reasons for their decision to abandon the PDP. The four who defected to APC were Garba Ulma, Zakari Ibrahim, Ibrahim Kamba and Abdulmalik Cheche. Wilson Nathaniel joined the SDP, while Tony Madwatte and Nwogbo defected to PDM and APGA respectively. Another member, Mr. Benjamin Aboho, defected to APGA, while Mr. Forte Dike left APGA for APC. Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Victor Ogene, also made his defection from APGA to the APC official on Wednesday By Ogene’s defection, both the chairman (Mr. Zakari Mohammed) and deputy chairman of the House committee on Media and Public Affairs are now members of the APC. The party alone gained six out of the total of 10 lawmakers, who changed political parties on Wednesday. The defection reduced the numerical strength of the PDP to around 182 members, while the APC rose from about 154 to 158 members. The SDP suddenly jumped to the third largest party in the House with 10 members. Labour Party has about three members, while APGA has two members and Accord Party, one. Meanwhile, the House further amended the Electoral Act 2010 on Wednesday to make a provision empowering the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that Internally Displaced Persons would vote at elections held during emergencies. The amendment to the Act, which passed third reading on Wednesday, was a response to INEC’s stance that there was no legal backing for it to guarantee voting opportunities for the IDPS during next month’s general elections. The amendment added a new clause to the existing Section 26 of the Principal Act, giving INEC powers to make provision for the voting rights of the IDPs. It was proposed by a PDP lawmaker from Taraba State, Mr. Albert Tsam-Tsokwa. The amendment received unanimous approval by members and was passed along with the new Electoral Act. However, the House and the Senate will still meet in conference to harmonise any differences that may appear in their respective versions of the new law |

I have nt touch my girlfriend in 5 weeks after an episode with her left me traumatized. During our last lovemaking, as it's customary for us to do if we have much time to give each other pleasure, I like to kiss her down there a lot and give her great pleasure. I like to also lick her b***h**e. She really enjoys it but in our last encounter something went terrible wrong. My girl forgot (or is it deliberate? God forbid) to clean her butt after taking a sh**. So when I put my tongue there, I tasted something funny. When I checked it out with my hands, it was her sh**! I couldn't believe it. She apologized and went to wash up but I haven't been able to get over it. I doubt I'll ever be comfortable around a woman's a**hole again. I haven't been able to touch her since the experience. Are there other men who have experienced this? How did you get over it? |

Offices of the All Progressives Congress and the All Progressives Grand Alliance have come under attack in parts of Ebonyi State. Our correspondent learnt on Monday that a failed attempt was made to bomb the APC office in Abakaliki on Sunday night, with objects suspected to be improvised explosive devices. However, the APGA office in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state was destroyed, along with houses of some members of the party. Eye witnesses alleged that those who attacked the APGA office as well as the houses of members of the party wore police uniforms. The Police Public Relations Officer in the Ebonyi State command, Mr. Chris Anyanwu, confirmed the failed attempt on the APC office and said that the police had launched investigations into the attacks, promising that the culprits would soon be apprehended. Senior police officers, including the area commander, and the divisional police officer in charge of Kpirikpiri Road police station, were at the scene of the attempted bombing on Monday. The police bomb disposal unit was also at the party office. Our correspondent learnt that the APC office, located along Kipirikpiri Road and near the Government House and the headquarters of the police command, also served as the campaign office of Julius Ucha, the governorship candidate of the party in the state. One of Ucha’s aides, John Ekeh, said that the unknown assailants threw IEDs into the building at about10: 45 pm on Sunday. “It was a clear intention of those that did it to burn down the office but God was on our side because when they threw the objects from the fence, the wire at the fence may have held the can containing the fuel and the intention was that when the object exploded, the fuel will catch fire and the entire building would have been razed down,” Ekeh explained. The APC governorship candidate has urged the Inspector General of Police to order a thorough investigation into the incident even as he asked his supporters to remain law abiding. In the same vein, the APGA governorship candidate in the state, Anthony Agbo, has condemned the destruction of the party’s office, as well as the houses of some members, in Ohaukwu. He said, “These agents of destabilisation in company with over 20 policemen attacked the houses of some members in this area. “They burnt the party’s office and destroyed several properties, such as furniture and posters, as the policemen who wore police vests and wielded AK 47 rifles shot at the houses of our members.” source: www.punchng.com/news/apc-apga-offices-attacked-in-ebonyi/ |
The Minister of State for Works, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye, has described the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), as the number one enemy of the South-West. “Buhari must be rejected by all true sons and daughters of Oduduwa,” Adeyeye said in a statement on Monday. But, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Ekiti, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said said Buhari was not an enemy of the Yoruba and asked Adeyeye to list the benefits he had brought to Ekiti since his appointment as a minister. The minister, in his statement, said Buhari did incalculable damage to Lagos State and the entire Yoruba land with the cancellation of the Lagos Metroline project and the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s free education programme. He challenged Buhari to mention “one single project” that he did in the South-West when he was the Head of State and as Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund. Adeyeye said, “Buhari did not only cancel the Metroline project, he went ahead to pay what was enough to complete the project as compensation to the French company that handled the project. “The idea of developing rapid transit in Lagos dated from the 1980s with the Lagos Metroline network conceived by the Alhaji Lateef Jakande during the Second Republic. “The Metroline project was scrapped in 1985 by Buhari at a loss of over $78m to the Lagos tax payers. Information on the Metroline Project is on Wikipedia for everyone to see. “If Buhari had not cancelled that project out of hatred for the Yoruba people, transportation in Lagos would have been better than it is now and one can begin to imagine the number of lives and investments that had been lost to Buhari’s wickedness. “Everything that Awolowo did for us in Yorubaland, Buhari undone. Buhari was even planning to merge the University of Ibadan with Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife when he was removed. “He stopped free education, thereby preventing many of our youths from going to school. Many of the youths that were victims of Buhari’s wickedness are now being begged by the APC to vote for the same man who cut short their bright future. “Unlike Buhari, President Goodluck Jonathan has demonstrated his love for the Yoruba people by giving us a university in Ekiti, constructing the abandoned Lagos-Ibadan Expressway; among other roads; approval for the construction of two seaports in Lagos and most importantly, by resuscitating rail transportation.” But Olatunbosun said, “Buhari has contributed more to the development of the nation. Most of the federal roads in Ekiti, including Ondo, were duly tarred with high grade materials by the Petroleum Trust Fund under Buhari as the chairman. “To show our respect for Awolowo, our Vice Presidential candidate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, is a grand son in-law to the late sage. “Adeyeye should tell us which of the federal projects we are enjoying from Jonathan. Even he (Adeyeye) as the minister of works, many federal roads were awarded without Ekiti getting any. “He should tell us what Ekiti would benefit from him as the Minister of State for Works and not tell us who to vote for because he is not qualified to speak on behalf of Ekiti people.” source www.punchng.com/news/adeyeye-says-buhari-hates-yoruba-apc-disagrees/ |
The Peoples Democratic Party has said that it will be in the interest of Nigerians for President Goodluck Jonathan to win the February presidential poll because Nigeria will not be safe in the hands of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). The National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo, said this at a press conference in Osogbo on Monday to announce Jonathan’s visit to the state for his campaign. He said that Nigerians could see that despite the numerous challenges facing the country, Jonathan was doing well and would not relent if he won another term in office. Oladipo said, “Nigeria is safe in the hands of President Goodluck Jonathan. The President is doing a lot to keep the country going. It would have been worse if not for the wisdom he is using to direct the affairs of the nation “Buhari has only said he would clamp corrupt politicians in jail without resorting to court. He said he would stop insurgency. Ask him how? He does not know because he does not mean what he is saying. “Buhari jailed somebody 301 years for allegedly stealing N5,000. He jailed the late Chief Bola Ige, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, Sam Mbakwe and others without trial. Buhari and the APC leaders are dangerous to democracy. Nigeria is not safe in their hands.” Reacting to the collection of Permanent Voter Cards which is higher in the stronghold of the APC, he said that the PDP was not bothered because there was no indication that those who had collected their voter cards were members of the opposition party. He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that every registered voter was allowed to vote in the February elections. He also accused the APC of upturning the victories recorded in some local government elections while describing those in the party as bad losers. The PDP scribe stated that Senator Musliu Obanikoro won a council election in Lagos State but his victory was allegedly annulled. He also accused those criticising President Jonathan for the deployment of soldiers and policemen for election duty of hypocrisy. Oladipo said that the PDP-led government at the centre did not deploy security agents to rig elections but to ensure adequate security for voters during elections. The Defence authorities have faulted the claim that over 2,000 people were killed in the Boko Haram attack on Baga, the headquarters of the Multi-National Joint Task Force on January 3. The Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, said this during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday. He said that 150 people including a large number of members of the Boko Haram sect were killed in the confrontation. Olukolade explained that many of the residents of Baga and the nearby communities had fled the area because of incessant attacks on their towns by the Boko Haram sect. He added that many of the residents of the community were able to flee the area while the battle between the soldiers and the insurgents lasted. Olukolade said that the figures being reported and attributed to eyewitnesses were exaggerated. “…It is however necessary to inform Nigerians in the interim that the exercise so far has not corroborated the report on the casualty rate which was put at 2,000. “From all available evidences, the number of people who lost their lives during that attack has so far not exceeded about 150 in the interim. This figure includes many of the terrorists who were bearing arms and got killed in the course of their attack and battle with troops. “It should be noted that Baga and the neighbouring towns have been under a series of attacks and harassment by the terrorists. In the course of this, many residents have left, leaving the population in the town almost seriously depleted. Many were also able to escape while the terrorists’ battle with troops lasted. “The figure given by sources who claim to be eyewitnesses must be an extremely exaggerated estimate. Unfortunately, this figure is now being bandied about in a section of the media as if it has been authenticated. It cannot be true,” he said Olukolade said that the military had embarked on a lot of covert operations including aerial surveillance activities designed to prevent the terrorists from carrying out heinous acts against innocent Nigerians. The Defence spokesman showed video clips of movement within and around Baga during the incidents. Olukolade stressed that while it was important to report incidents that would bring out the acts perpetrated by the Boko Haram sect, such reports should be factual. “In any case, this is no time to debate about casualty figures or number of deaths as the life of any Nigerian is important. Much as the intention which could be with the aim of drawing attention to the atrocities being committed by terrorists group in Nigeria is most welcome, the need for factual presentation of the situation is equally vital,” he added The Defence spokesman said that the military had not given up on Baga or any other part of the country and was indeed making preparations to address the security challenge. Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Power, Mohammed Wakil, on Wednesday said the Federal Government was more resolute than ever to tame the Boko Haram insurgency. The minister also said President Goodluck Jonathan was saddened by the continuous killing of innocent Nigerians by the Boko Haram insurgents, adding that the Peoples Democratic Party was also pained by the savagery unleashed on the North-East by the terrorist group. The minister said this shortly after he was received by some party chieftains, as thousands of supporters thronged to the Maiduguri International Airport. Wakil, who said he was in the state to convey the sympathy and condolence of President Jonathan to the people, stated that the Presidency was deeply worried by the killings including the Baga killings reported to have claimed about 150 lives. He added that the PDP was most saddened by the Boko Haram insurgency which claimed many lives in the North-East source: www.punchng.com/news/150-not-2000-died-in-baga-attacks-military-2/ |

The Department of State Services has said that its investigations indicated that the All Progressives Congress had plans to hack into the database of the Independent National Electoral Commission. The service explained that the confessions from the staff arrested at the APC office at 10,Bola Ajibola Street, Ikeja, and the items retrieved from the building showed that the party had an elaborate plan to hack into the commission’s database and inflate the number of its membership. The Deputy Director, Public Relations, DSS, Marilyn Ogar said this at a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja |
