Politics / Re: Fact Check: Osinbajo Claims $2 Billion Paid For Second Niger Bridge by phemmyutd(m): 5:21pm On Oct 22, 2017
bloodmoneyspita:
On Friday while campaigning for the All ProgressivesCongress governorship candidate in Anambra state, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo made a bogus claim that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government through Nigeria’s Sovereign Wealth Fund paid a whopping $2billion for the Second Niger Bridge. Here are the facts:The Second Niger Bridge was awarded to Julius Berger in 2014 by former President Goodluck Jonathan at the cost of N177 billion.

The contract was based on a Public-Private Partnership arrangement.Julius Berger‎ is to work on the project on the basis of Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT), at a total cost of N108 billion.

The money was reduced from an initial cost of N138 billion downto N108 billion by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).The Federal Government is to contribute N30 billion (28%) of the project cost. The remaining 72% will be raised by Julius Berger.

The project, which is divided into three phases, will bypass Onitsha and Asaba to connect the Owerri-Onitsha Expressway at Nkwerre-Ezunaka, and then cross Atani to the Asaba-Benin Expressway at Okpanam with a total length of 44 kilometres.

Note that the entire Second Niger Bridge project is tocost N108 billion after the review by the BPP.

Osinbajo’s claim“In fact, I am being reminded that just two days ago, the Sovereign Wealth Fund paid$2billion for that same project [Second Niger Bridge ]. So we will definitely see our Second Niger Bridge. We will not make promises we cannot keep.” VP Osinbajo said on Friday in Anambra.

The claim by Osinbajo is not just false, but also very deceptive. It can best be described as a political statement meant to deceive those clamouring for the construction of a bridge that was awarded in 2014 which has now become a subject for political campaigns.

First and foremost, there is no way $2billion translating to N712 billion can be spent on a project that was awarded for N108 billion. If we are to go by Osinbajo’s statement, it means that the project will gulp an additional N604 billion apart from the contracted amount.

It is either Osinbajo didn’t know what he was saying or he intentionally decided to mislead Nigerians on national television to create the impression that the Buhari-led government has the interest of people from the region at heart.

Another fact:
As at September 2017, Nigeria’s Sovereign Wealth fund stood at $2billion, according to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, NSIA, Uche Orji in a report by Bloomberg.

So, it is preposterous to say that the government released $2billion for the Second Niger Bridge which is the exact amount in the SWF account.

In June 2017, the Chairman Committee on Media and Publicity in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abdulrazak Namdas revealed that the Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Mr. Babatunde Fashola refused to spend a Kobo out of N12 billion appropriated for the Second Niger Bridge in the 2016budget.

Conclusion
It is clear that Osinbajo’s statement is absolutely false. It should be disregarded. Three years since the contract was awarded by Jonathan’s administration after boasting to complete the bridge in 48 months, the completion of the bridge seems far-fetched.‎The reality at hand shows that the bridge may likelybe completed in 2020, according to Orji.-Alexander Thandi Ubani is an Editor at tori.ngthandiubani@yahoo.com

You just typed rubbish and shows you want to Impress your gullible.

VP said 2b was paid two days ago for the construction. What we expect you to prove is that No money has been paid for that purpose at the time VP claimed it was paid.

Politics / Re: Fraud: Vp Osinbajo Flags Off Bodo-bonny Rd Already Under Construction by phemmyutd(m): 7:20am On Oct 21, 2017
[quote author=cuteboy2 post=61622668]This is the Bodo-Bonny road already under construction. The immediate past Jonathan administration executed the road construction to this level. It was included in the 2015 budget for continuous funding, but the APC Federal Government abandoned it.

Analysts are surprised that President Buhari through the Vice President is flagging off a road which is already under construction. To make matters worse, they have awarded the road to another contractor and are starting construction work from Bonny.

The Jonathan administration started solid work at Bodo, which progressed satisfactorily. Many are shocked at the fraud of the Buhari administration and the use of Vice President Osinbajo to perpetrate such.

Seeing is believing.

According to a LIB reader, the state of Proda road, Enugu is so terrible that those who ply the road only put on black and brown clothes during dry season because of how dusty the road gets. It's worse off during rainy season as the road gets really muddy.

The offices of south east zonal standards organization of Nigeria (SON), the south east national identity management commission, the south east federal training center, Prohects development institute( PRODA) Fed. Mins of science & tech, A divisional police command are all located on this road yet no proper drainage.

The Government should please look into these areas to make life better for people who ply there.

UzuegbuProsper:
ANAMBRA TURNS APC

Majority of Igbos have taken a decision to join the moving train. We are better off, being in the negotiation table than crying like babies. Political power is not given out of sympathy, but collected with courage.

While Imo leads the way, as a result of Governor Rochas Okorocha's foresight and vision, Anambra is following. Majority of Anambra people will not only vote, but will defend their votes for the APC, come November 18th. The Anambra voter understands that this election offers Ndigbo a grand opportunity to raise their negotiating powers ahead of 2019. This is our chance to break into that 97%, and we will not miss it.

Igbos have decided to key into the APC chance and we are not leaving any stones unturned in doing this. This is the largest crowd since the campaigns for the Anambra governorship started and, while nothing is settled in politics till the final day, I can say that Anambra governorship is fully settled for APC.

I am just imagining the type of insult your brothers are preparing for you for typing these

Education / Brilliant Nigerian Girl Leaves Everyone Amazed During A Maths Quiz by phemmyutd(m): 8:59pm On Oct 19, 2017
A smart Nigerian girl has dazzled the world with her intelligence

- The young girl did amazingly well in a mathematics quiz

- She left everyone stunned with her composure and smart answers

Oreofe, a Nigerian girl presumed to be a teenager has left the world in utter shock after a video of her answering some mathematical questions during a quiz emerged.

The smart Nigerian girl was obviously on the hot seat and did her best possible in giving the correct answer at the right time. From the look of things, the young girl was prepared for the quiz and was not ready to waste time.

While the questions were being read out by a moderator with the brilliant girl also reading from her own screen, she provided the answers before the moderator could finish reading each question.

This went on for a while with the moderator confirming the answers given by the young girl. It is intriguing that such a girl could process the questions without working them out on a piece of paper before churning out the answers.

There is no doubt about this girl knowing her onions when it comes to mathematics. The skills she exhibited at the competition show she is a guru and possibly one of the sharpest students in her school.

While no one knows the name of the school she represented, her performance at the quiz would make it difficult for anyone to forget her. The quiz master commended her at the end of the sixty seconds quiz. He said she was the loudest contestant.

Education / Nigerian Man Takes Home The Award Of Best Ph.d Thesis In Mexico. by phemmyutd(m): 6:34am On Oct 19, 2017
A Nigerian man has taken home a remarkable award in Mexico

- He finished his doctorate degree program in two years as against the four years recommended

- The brilliant man has also published the highest number of articles in quantum and mathematical physics within this time

A Nigerian man identified as Babatunde James Falaye has done something incredible and has made Nigeria proud with his recent achievement in Mexico.

The Nigerian man who lectures at Federal University Lafia in Nasarawa state travelled to Mexico for his post graduate program where he ended up dazzling the entire community of Instituto Politecnico Nacional (IPN).

Falaye’s thesis for his doctorate degree program, entanglement and its applications in quantum information, won the award of the best Ph.D thesis in mathematical sciences and engineering in IPN, Mexico.

Babatunde Falaye, the Nigerian man who just received the best Ph.D thesis award in Mexico. Source: Facebook, Babatunde James Falaye.

Interestingly, the Nigerian man who hails from Iyin Ekiti concluded his doctorate program within two years instead of the four years stated. This duration is considered as one of the shortest ever. He was also said to have graduated with an average score of hundred percent while at it.

Before this doctorate program, the young man studied theoretical physics at the University of Ilorin which happened to be his alma mata. The physics lecturer had come a long way before bagging this degree with his knowledge of physics.

Falaye did not only finish his Ph.D program within a short period of time, he was able to write the highest number of research articles within the two years he used for his doctorate degree program. His research works focused on quantum physics and mathematical physics.

This remarkable achievement made the graduate school nominate him to the university for the award of outstanding postgraduate student. Falaye ended up being the best graduating student of the year.

The brilliant doctor attributed his success to God saying he works like everything depends on him and prays like everything depends on God. The research works he has done will be useful for the generations that are yet to be born.

His loved ones have not stopped hailing him and praising him for this great achievement. Some took to his Facebook page to celebrate him. See one of the posts below:

He has made the nation proud with his enviable achievements in Mexico. The country is proud to have such a rare gem whose work will never be forgotten as far as quantum physics and mathematical physics is concerned

Politics / Kachikwu Breaks Silence After Fire Incident At Abuja Home. by phemmyutd(m): 7:40pm On Oct 17, 2017
- The minister of state for petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, has described the fire incident which occurred at his Asokoro, Abuja residence, as ‘nothing serious’

- The fire broke out between Sunday night, October 15, and Monday morning, Ocotber 16; and the minister was not in the property when it occurred

- An aide to minister disclosed that it was caused by a faulty cable in his principal's bedroom; and stressed that no foul play was suspected

Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum, has spoken out concerning the fire incident which occurred at his Abuja home on Monday, October 16, Premium Times reports.

The minister confirmed that the unfortunate incident actually took place, but described it as ‘nothing serious’.

NAIJ.com gathers that a spokesperson for the minister, Idang Alibi, disclosed that the incident occurred due to a faulty cable in Kachikwu’s bedroom; but no one was hurt.

The incident was immediately brought under control by security guards at the Asokoro property.

Alibi stated: “It was a mere power surge that was contained immediately.”

Kachikwu himself was absent when the fire broke out between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Alibi further stated that no foul play was suspected. The incident comes on the heels of controversies arising from the leaked memo from the minister to President Muhammadu Buhari, alleging wrongful conduct and questionable transactions within the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that the private residence of Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum, caught fire on Sunday, October 15.

The fire reportedly started in the bedroom of the minister, in the evening
