codemaniacs: so kings "employed and financed Christian missionary societies in exchange for schools to be set up in their communities" but they couldn't employ and finance electrical engineers, civil engineers e.t.c to build up the infrastructure in the ND.
we're in 2020, is it still illegal for them? don't they have money to fund another Ijaw who would work in their interest.
In 2020, there are many Ijaws with seats in the national assembly.
Again, armed agitators are not the ones meant to do the repossessing, its meant to be done by the rich Ijaws elites. I don't even consider myself a Nigerian. I put ethnicity first. even europeans put ethnicity first.
in 2020, there are Ijaws who own oil wells in this host communities, let the Ijaws who own oil wells reinvest 20% - 40% of their Return On Investment into the host communities.
this is my last response to you. You just show the stupidity of Nigerians time and again. These monarchs were monarchs in sovereign kingdoms. Some had embassies in Britain and Portugal. As of then the world didn't have electrical engineers. They employed the prevailing technology of their time. Their biggest downfall was to align with "so called fellow Africans" instead of focusing on their business interests and interaction with the rest of the world. If they do certain things you Nigerians will be the first to say they've overstepped their bounds based on Nigeria's constitution. Coup plotters are armed agitators. The same way you accept the bounties stolen by armed agitators from other parts of Nigeria ( coup plotters). Is the same way you should accept armed agitators from the Niger Delta recovering what was stolen from their homeland. How many percent is own by the Ijaws you talked about? NNPC Nigeria's national petroleum corporation is largest oil company in the region, the main polluter and the primary force that drives human right abuse, yet no Nigerian holds NNPC accountable. Instead they blame SHELL, Chevron etc and of recent the host communities. In 2020 out of 109 senators only 6 are Ijaw. Where world do 6 senators form a voting majority? In the last 20 years there were times the Ijaw nation had 4 or 5 senators. The political system and structure reflects how unjust Nigeria is. They made the system such that the resource bearing communities can never get legal respite. |

codemaniacs: the laws don't stop Ijaws from creating oil companies.
the neglect is caused by the Ijaws themselves, imagine your neighbor blaming you for his/her joblessness and poverty and he/she does not apply for jobs.
free education after Nigeria gained independence in 1960s.
Ijaws can't be more educated than the Yorubas, because the first school in Nigeria was created in the SW.
have the ogonis tried to create their own political party and vote their son/daughter to get governor, deputy governor or speaker?
military dictators were not of Ijaw descent so you don't expect a non-Ijaw to follow due process on Ijaw natural resources.
since the ND can't issue license at the state or regional level, can't collect tax, can't make environmental laws and can't have right to enforce those laws then they should create an Ijaw only corporate society or private company that will acquire the licence, keep the profits, make state environmental agencies more functional to keep the environment clean. To start with, it shows how ignorant you are. Schools started in the Niger Delta. Particularly amongst Ijaw and Efik communities were the kings employed and financed Christian missionary societies in exchange for schools to be set up in their communities. Are you okay? To start with, your government made it illegal for Ogoni people to have their political party. They changed the law because 1 Ijaw man under an Ijaw party was able to get a seat at the national assembly. Then why are you making noise here? Since Nigerians condone the aggression of uniformed men from their societies against resource bearing communities then they should also be supportive when armed agitators from those regions repossess their assets people from other parts of Nigeria took through the use of military force. You are a mad man! You Nigerians are mad!! God will so punish you people in His special way!!! Several Niger Delta states and host communities have applied for licenses to no avail. The PIB got stuck in your parliament because provisions were made for host communities in the last 20 years. |

codemaniacs: GEJ got re-elected in 2011 it has nothing to do with nature.
Its not about creating laws on the oil and gas sector, its about creating companies that are in the oil and gas sector. if you're intelligent enough to call NNPC a "Nigerian agency" then you know that an "Ijaw Petroleum Company" can be created either by a private Ijaw person or an Ijaw corporate group or by the state government, no one is stopping the Ijaws from doing this. there is a cement company called Cement C:ompany of N:orthern Nigeria, what is stopping the Ijaws from creating Petroleum Company of Ijaw Corporation.
militants wouldn't have to strike if politicians from ND had given them free education, if politicians and Ken Saro Wiwa were calling out rich private Ijaw sons and daughters to re-invest their money in Bayelsa. If you see armed agitation as the only solution then you're only creating problems for the ND. How companies are created is determined by the laws so you cannot ignore the role legal issues play. You and other Nigerians who benefit from the neglect of the region are promoting this narrative. Free education when and under what circumstances? Prior to Nigeria's independence Ijaw were more educated than the Yoruba and Igbo. The Igbo in particular had a deliberate policy of preventing Ijaw children from gaining access to education. What drew Ijaw people backward was being under the defunct western and eastern region. For Saro-Wiwa's Ogoni people, they've never been able to govern themselves in any form whatsoever so blaming them for their plight is disingenuous. Since 1960 till date no Ogoni man has been governor, deputy governor or speaker. In Nigeria, like I said before, oil assets were given out by military dictators without following due process. The crux of our argument in the Niger Delta is on the right to issue license at the state or regional level, the right to collect tax, the right to make environmental laws, the right to enforce those laws. Without these, Nigeria is to be blamed for all that is wrong. |

The say you people betray igbos again you would see our dark side I don't have time to talk with you! Ignorant folks like you can talk about buying " abandoned property ". Boro did not become SUG president by Igbo votes because as of then, the Igbo were the least educated in the defunct eastern region but the punished him for winning that election. Not even Azikiwe could win election in the region. That is why he had to resort to replacing those who campaigned and won elections. The Igbo elite in their wickedness went as far as destroying pre independence infrastructure because it was not in their area. The tax rate for Igbo was less in comparison to others in the region. Schools and admissions were deliberately skewed to favour the Igbo immediately after they could hold public office. Why did the Igbo have a problem with the 12 state structure if they were keen on oppressing others? Why did Azikiwe oppose Biriye's demand for a separate region if they were not looking for a place to colonize? When Azikiwe back stabbed Ikoli and Biriye that was not the first back stabbing? The problem in the Niger Delta is that we have not paid you back with your coins. |

after Ironsi removed regionalism, most of the funds from the regions went to the FG, so who ever is in charge of the FG can give their " in laws, ethnic or religious mates, side chicks etc. " the funds to win the bid.
the other regions have their own problems, it is not their duty to pay attention to problems in the ND. the ND could have formed partnerships with other countries to invest in their region if the other tribes or regions were failing them.
resorting to emotional blackmail wouldn't help the ND. It is EVERYONE'S duty to pay attention to EVERYTHING that is wrong with Nigeria! The debate has been on the environmental degradation, it is Nigeria's central government that has let that happen. It is disingenuous to claim the Niger Delta peoples are responsible for their plight. They are victims of power play between the Igbo, Yoruba and Fulani. We have NEVER benefited from our resources. Prior to Ironsi's action of making Nigeria unitary, it was Igbo people who benefitted from our resources in the defunct eastern region. If it is not owned by an indigene or a group of indigenes or companies owned by indigenes then it is no longer the indigenes own.

but your second post, I don't think Awolowo would have agreed to let Ondo and parts of Itsekiri and Urhobo to be part of a region named after another ethnic nation. Chief Harold Dappa Biriye's request did not include any other group. It was purely Ijaw. From coast to coast. It was many years later he co-opted other ethnic groups into his agitation for separate regions or states. That led to the push for what was called COR. It encompassed all the minorities in the defunct eastern region. Prior to that he wanted an Ijaw region carved out of both regions. It was the inability to get support from the NCNC's Igbo dominated leadership that made him leave NCNC and form NDC( Niger Delta Congress). He called for the creation of an Ijaw region that would have included Ijaws from Ondo till Akwa Ibom. Initially Awolowo agreed with the plan until Azikiwe and his convinced him not to. The first uprising in Nigeria was Boro's 12 day revolt. Ironically, the head of state and military governor of the defunct eastern region were all Igbo. If the Igbo were devoid of oppressive tendencies, Boro wouldn't have embarked on his brave but near suicidal declaration of independence. We cannot betray oppressors! Without sentiments, Niger delta is arguably the dumbest region in Nigeria. I have never seen a region full of potentials yet highly unwise, tactically impotent. Full with people who bear European names but archaic in thinking, strategy, and objectivity.
If you feel offended, I owe you no apologies but a request that you think of strategic ways to better your people. The same old play book of gra gra and much ado has not gotten the region anywhere.
If I go full frontal on ND, this thread will burst into flames. Flames of truth anyway. It will not burst into any flames! I doubt if you have anything useful to say. I am not surprised many Nigerians liked what you wrote. Most them benefit from the oppression of the Niger Delta . Themselves, their parents, spouse or a relative who benefits directly from it have at one point in time helped them with blood money from the Niger Delta. Since you know "strategic" ways the people could get their liberation, why didn't you state it? Out of 109 senators we only have 18. What you call "gra gra" seems to be our only source of hope.
