There is an Igbo obsession with the Atlantic Ocean almost to the point of neuroses. This has led to the forceful conscription of all peoples with moonlight fable links of their Igboid ancestry into Biafra, such as the still puzzled Esan people of Ubiaja in Edo State who suddendly woke up one day to discover they are Igbo.

The problem is even if for agreement sake all these Igbo claimed peoples were to agree (Impossibility) to be Biafra, Biafra still wont be an Atlantic Nation as none of these tribes seat on the Atlantic Ocean.

Take the case of Rivers State. In the unlikely event that the the less than 500,000 Ikweres allow themselves to be dragged into Biafra, the direct sea access will still be blocked by the below tribes that include Ogonis, Ijaws, Kalabaris who are all sitting right on the ocean and will never give up their land.

My advise to those seeking Biafra is to focus on the 5 state of South East to be taking serious.

There will be a Yoruba Nation.
Their will be 1 or 2 Niger Delta Nations.

I can't really tell why that is the case. Amongst the Ijaw clans I think they place too much emphasis on that. It is a tradition on some sort. You experience glamour in other clans like Nembe, Ibani( Bonny& Opobo), and Okrika but I think Kalabari is on another level.

For instance an Okrika man is only concerned about what his wife wears but a Kalabari man is very much concerned about what he wears and what his wife wears. Under such circumstances the Kalabari couple would be viewed as more glamorous.

The culture is also the same across Ijawland with a few twists. Like there are hats used everywhere. Some are popular amongst the Kalabari and others are popular amongst the Opobo and Bonny people. These little variations are only known by insiders.

They annulled the June 12 elections.

Omokri and Okeowo are both wrong, as Reno rightly pointed out, the South west does not rely on the North for electricity, it relies on the Niger Delta for electricity. All the power plants he mentioned rely on gas from the Niger Delta.

Without oil revenue Lagos economy will shrink by at least half. Lagos is largely reliant on the oil and gas industry. That is why like the rest of Nigeria, any time there is a sharp drop or rise in oil price, the effects are felt in Lagos.
