Befor even if am at 30MPH and pedal to metal it will speed up and overtake any car I set as target , trust me now if I pedal ,it will just reach 40MPH or it will be just be looking at me like mumu.

Check and see that you don’t have cruise control engaged at a lower speed o.

Those Matrix and Corolla can have their CC engaged without the driving knowing as they’re at the side of the steering.

The lower the cost of the car is, the higher will the insurance become. As a student, your premiums will also be high. Add to the fact that you will be a first time driver here in Ireland, my advice will be to forget the car option and focus on your study. There will be enough time once you are working to drive. Many roles also provide a company car especially for engineering jobs.

Bros, owning a car doesn’t not mean that one isn’t focused on studying. Have you seen anyone who got a visa just to go drive in another man’s country?

The essence of owning a car is for easy mobility to meet with various appointments on time. Hence, the thoughts of an affordable mobility option.

While your opinion is appreciated, owning a car doesn’t translate to losing focus on academics/ studies.

Wrong title.

The correct title is: “Soldiers Crash While Fleeing From Herders”.

Before you dare mention me, I don’t need to remind you that the FG pamper the BH terrorists and refuse calling them their rightful names. Rather, they call them “herders”.

Thanks so much for the elaborate explanation.
You answered beyond my question.

Thank you.

Othniels:
Ok. lol. From a student perspective it is expensive for the following reasons.
1. A litre of fuel sells for around 1.34 to 1.56 euros. No fuel subsidy here. So a full tank of premium fuel will cost around 50euros or more. There are three grades of fuel. The less quality one cost less but burns faster. Diesel is cheaper. Electric is the cheapest (govt gives subsidy for green cars)

2. Here we drive on the left side of the road and the driver's side is on the right hand drive of the car. It will take some relearning to get used to and as a student you may break some rules and incur penalty points on your drivers license…….. thats if you manage to get one before you finish your program. Its pretty challenging to get one now. Although you can use your Nigerian drivers license but the moment you get a GNIB, its required you acquire an Irish drivers license.

3. Besides the cost of a car here, not too expensive for a good 2nd hand though, the biggest cost will be insurance. 3rd party doesn't work here as such. For a newbie, your insurance will be high. Its not like Nigeria where insurance rates are usually flat for both comprehensive and 3rd party. Here there are a lot of other factors that determine your insurance. And that insurance is over important. You must not switch on the engine of a car without insurance….kidding…. actually you must not drive a car without insurance.

4. Here you pay for parking. Everywhere. Infact for your student accommodation car park, you may pay as high as 600 euros for a year. For street parking, there are flat rates for zones. Bottom line.. no free parking for over 95% of places, even in the college car park.

5. There is very good transport system everywhere in the city. With a student leap card, you pay approx 1.6 euro for everywhere you move to regardless of the distance.

So, make your choice. Why would you want to put yourself in so much stress owning a car when you have less need of it as a student.

Good Evening All. Please I have question.

U know that situation when u want to quickly over take a car ,, within a short period of time and in a tight place or when u want to overtake a trailer. Then u press your throttle with force and to the end , the can will behave like it's over charged and speed up so quick to give u turbor like speed, I think it is called TurborCharged.

My car can not do it again.

I removed it from Over drive still the same thing what could be the problem thanks .

I really miss that now I can hardly overtake kekebus ,

Toyota Matrix 2004

This is really funny.

You say “my car can not do it again”. grin

The situation you explained isn’t called turbocharged. Rather, that’s what your torque does for you.

As to your car’s current situation, I would have mentioned the OD feature on your transmission but since you already said you have it disabled, then lemme call Gazzuzz to bring his spoon because food is ready.

Kingreign, carry your plate too and come and eat.

Also, let’s see how the US will respond to this case and use it as a case study for Nigeria.

However, I’m interested in experience from a student’s perspective. What’s it like? Is it expensive to own a car? Is it worth it considering the transportation system? What’s the advantage/ disadvantage?

Good day guys, please I want your opinion/comparison on this cars, especially on reliability and cost of maintenance

2007 Acura Tsx
2009 Acura Tsx
2011 Hyundai Elantra

Here’s my opinion:

RELIABILITY:
2007 TSX > Elantra > 2009 TSX

MAINTENANCE COST:
1.) In the event of parts replacement (High to Low):
Elantra > 2009 TSX > 2007 TSX

2.) Daily maintenance/ wearing and tearing of parts including fuel and oil consumption (High to Low):
2007 TSX > 2009 TSX > Elantra.

Just to add, the performance rating will be (Good, better, best):
Elantra > 2009 TSX > 2007 TSX

If I’m to pick, I’ll take a 2010 TSX v6 instead of a 2009 TSX, followed by the Elantra because of its design. I won’t consider the 2007 TSX just because of its cramped rear legroom space.

However, I’ll pick a 2009 EX-L Honda Accord V6 over and again without looking at the 2010 TSX.

If you so much love the TSX, I suggest you look at a 2010 TSX v6 instead.

Thank you for your detailed response. I just want to clarify that water/flood water is not one of the causes of power steering component failure

I won’t argue with you.
But know this:
While small amounts of water in the power steering fluid won’t damage the system because the PS fluid is hygroscopic (it can absorb little water), I just need to clarify that there are metal components in the PSS which water will damage.

Do you even know that water in the system will damage the rack?

When much water gets in, the power steering rack will definitely get damaged.
I don’t know if you know how the hydraulic mechanism works but in simple terms, it works on the principles of pressure. Where there is pressure, you most definitely will not find heat. But the presence of water in a pressurized system will generate heat. Water is a bad conductor of heat. With the system working with pressure and water is present, heat will be generated and if you have more water in the fluid, it will boil and bring about bubbles which will not be good for the hydraulic pressure. By the way, honey or glycerine can even be added to your power steering fluids and it won’t do your PSS any harm grin since they’re hygroscopic fluids.

Bros, abeg go do your research.

Good morning house. I have seen so many car have steering rack/power steering problems and too expensive to replace. Sedans like Lexus GS, Lexus IS, etc. Is this problem caused by water or no? Secondly, are there sedans that are not prone to this issue?

and others

Power steering is a system of component parts mainly the pump, valve and pulley. So, power steering-related problems can occur for a variety of reasons directly linked with individual or collective parts failures including but not limited to leakage, wrong fluid, engine failure or driving on a low fluid for a long time. In most cases, it seems to be a bad pump or a leaking valve.
About 3 months ago, I had to seal the valve component of my Honda Accord power steering system. Since then, it has never given me any issues. Prior to the sealing, I always top up the fluid and dealt with a messy engine bay. But now, steering is sweet and bay is clean.

It usually costs some bucks to fix any of the related power steering issues irrespective of car type (sedans, hatch back, SUV etc). I advice that you don’t drive with a failed power steering system for long because a leaking valve or a bad pulley will certainly damage the pump.

All cars have a power steering system and I’m sure you know what it means wink. However, recent models now use electric power steering system as against the previous hydraulic system. The electric is miles better and you can find that in Toyota Corollas of 2014 model year and above. I even drove a 2007 Toyota Yaris Hatchback and it has an electric power steering system.
Just get a newer model vehicle and enjoy the electric PSS.

2 stories

1st story

I met a waiter at rhapsody in ikeja shopping mall, who regretted leaving Nigeria for dubai, i asked him why? He said he left his stable job to Dubai, got to dubai and was earning 70k, was also living in a shared accommodation with 4 people, after working for 5 months, he resigned and left Dubai for Nigeria.

2nd story

My cousin left his well paid job for Canada, sold his properties in naija and moved to Canada with his family, first 8 month of his life was hell upon earth, from bills to bills, from one low wage job to another, the neighborhood he was living with his family was infested with gangs, the public school was also infected with gangs, his children got bullied because of their accents, his wife, even though supportive couldn't get a good job, bros was tired of everything.

So he decided to solve his problem by moving back, after the scrap they could save in Canada, my guy and his family moved back to Nigeria, they had to start afresh, thank God, he had a supportive family and friends, they use their connections to help him find another good job but what is lost is lost till today he still regrets selling his properties for Canada.

Omo, you just dey throw lies upandan.

Why didn’t his supportive family use their connections for him before he traveled to Canada?

By the way, the surest route to migration has always been via school/ education.

The terrible lies you’re padding here to support your opinion are from people who travelled illegally.
