Education / Re: Why Is Northern Nigeria So Backward Academically? by phildon: 9:44am On Aug 02, 2012
beblessed: How many poor man's children are justices, judges, perm sec from the north? It only circulates within a particular group(s). One person will be a minister for twenty years. Later his son/daughter will take over...haba, how can you be this wicked. Come to the south and see how everyone is carried along with education.
You may be right. But these are mere appointments, political ones. And as we all know, Perm Sec was never a political appointment until now in Bayelsa State. So, your education or merit doesnt count in these appointments, your political affiliation does.

@beblessed, that ratio you gave is never presented in the manner you did. It is 1:9 and not 10:90

beblessed: Phildon, oh phildon! Go help your region plzzzzzzzz! You cant deny the facts unless you are part of the wicked cabals!
You simply lack reasons and that is why you are geting frustrated in this arguement. From this your comment, you are telling me that you are EMPTY! I understand. I 'll apply FIFA fairplay for you.
Education / Re: Why Is Northern Nigeria So Backward Academically? by phildon: 8:53am On Aug 02, 2012
beblessed: @ phildon, i never in my comments meant it was only a northern affair. Check my previous comment. My annoyance is that the so called leaders in this regions are not helping matters @ all. On 7th April, 2012, i raised an alarm on nairaland on the. Nigerian educational system, nobody said anything. Am a teacher in high standard private school and also a waec examiner, i can tell you that the rich in the society have taken care of their offsprings. It is going to be worse in future because when these so called illerates realise themselves, they will come after learned people. The truth is that north is struggling behind the south. There are people in uk and usa who are not educated but we all know their standard is high. Similarly, the ratio of learned to unlearned in the north is likened to 10:90. Do u appreciate that ratio in all sincerity?
What do you mean by learned? If having sleepless nights on BB or laptop pinging and doing yahoo business, pornography, speaking broken English around, nudity, flirtng around in western attires, rushing to overseas to deal in drugs or prostitute is what you mean by being learned, then your ratio is perfect. But if being learned is having the right information at the right time, with the northerner glueing to his transistor radio, then your ratio is mischievous
Education / Re: Why Is Northern Nigeria So Backward Academically? by phildon: 7:53am On Aug 02, 2012
You probably may find the Hausa/Fulani man's ancent funny, but you cannot condemn the north educationally like that. Check the list, from Sir A. T. Balewa(the Golden Voice of Africa) to late Yaradua, you can only appreciate the fluency of our leaders and their spouses. You say the women don't even go to school yet we have Justice Fati Abubakar, Justice Mukhtar, Prof Gambo Laraba Abdullahi, Prof Ruqqaya Rufai. I cant list them all. Western education came into the country via the xtian missioneries from the south. So the north is behind the south educationally. However, it has been over exagerated. Whatever educational failure/success you see in the south today, you have its equivalence in the north. So stop the insults.

beblessed: A serving minister of education from the north in the 90's once said that 'you dont have to see the four corners of a school to be educated'. That the mad rush for certificates by southerners was unhealthy and unnecessary. When a leader thinks this way, what do you expect from lettuce farmer or cattle rearer? Boko de haram!
Our president, GEJ (PhD) is from the North while former president Atiku who only went to the Uni when he was a V.P., is from the South. My friend, I know of a Unizik graduate with 2.1 who could not fill her forms in the orientation camp. She confided in me and I fill it for her, though not for free. Lol!

Our first lady Dame Patience Goodluck, who also doubles as a Perm Sec in Bayelsa State and once a teacher, is from the NORTH.

Beync: Are there not millions of poor people affected by societal ills from other regions? so every one should be kiling each other cos we are lazy and cannot work ourselves out of impoverished state? if any one has not been sincere, it's ur leaders who refuse to develop them, leaving them brainwashed and led them to abject poverty, it did'nt start today.
Since you're not very fast in understanding, let me give you a raw example. Immigrations and Customs are at the borders through which illegal arms an immigrants enter the country. Do you know that people pay to get customs and immigration jobs? This, coupled with the ugly euphoria of highly placed individuals looting our wealth going unpunished, will make these customs and immigration officers compromise. The north could be afflicted by BH, the south has its own symptoms in armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism etc

okosodo: .They are after money, they only want it in billions
If the gvt can vote almost a trillion naira to arrest security issues of which BH is of the greatest challenge and going by the number of lives lost in their operations, then billions of naira is a work over.

Beync: so what were u insinuating when u said amnesty did a lot in addressing militancy? Ok what do they(bk) want? What do u want govt to do for them? Sing islamic pledge And surrender power to the north, isn't that what u want? Awe how u wish they will even accept amnesty, see apology, huh. Stop eyeing oil money for amnesty, to hell with bk.
I swear, if these guys were after money, boko haram would have become history. The genuiness of their demands has been vehemently overwhelmed by their activities. So the govt ought to be more sincere in all it is doing. BH is a mere symptom of the ills of the society. Leave BH and cure the ailment.

Beync: in order words, they should offer bk amnesty? Longer throat! Tongue. Ur neck go long like antelope own where u dey wait amnesty. Bk sponsor
How I wish the BH are willing to even accept amnesty. However, do not derail yet. The number of people both police and soldiers have killed in the name of BH has trippled that of Odi. So by your warped suggestion, BH should be no more by now. Now, answer me. Did the Odi treatment cure militancy?

val_dee: Please GEJ, give them the Odi treatment, that is the only thing that will flush them out.
What a clawnish statement. Did Odi treatment clear militancy? No! Amnesty did a lot in addressing militancy.

Billyonaire: The Opposition can only make noise as usual, nothing dey happen. I advise you have an election winning strategy. The fact that you can not win an election or you are a chronic election loser seems to Nigerians that you are either, sectional, partisan or lack the foresight to rule.
Probably these qualities you mentioned are the qualities you use in supporting this govt. When you have nothing against a message, you attack the messenger. Just like the rough guys in football would say, if you miss the ball, don't miss the leg. smh

MY QUESTION IS BTW ORO AND ISLAM, WHICH CONSUMES INNOCENT LIVES MORE, AND WHICH SHUD A HUMANE AND RATIONAL THINKING PERSON PREFER?.
But by my last count, the muslims I know said BH are not practicing islam. What about that, Mr cultist?
Politics / Re: Tension In Ogun As Muslims, Traditionalists Clash by phildon: 6:17pm On Jul 29, 2012
kunletech: Muslims should always try to understand that there are time u don't have choice than to compromise ur right for peace to rain as other religion always compromise their right for u when praying on friday.
Remenber u will block major roads that belong to public and no any religion that has ever obstruct u from that.
Muslims, I believe if u people stop practising religion and start worshiping true God, the world will be peacefull and look like a small paradise.
The muslims have been quite over the oro cultural festival, but this time around, it is clashing with Ramadan festival too. So, by your judgement, they should abondon their ramadan and join the oro. Think before u comment, pls

Politics / Re: Richard Branson- Nigerian Politicians Are Insane, & Dream Killers by phildon: 1:39pm On Jul 29, 2012
Billyonaire: Richard Branson is right but he is sounding emotional about business gone bad. The OBJ administration was marred by corruption. I will say that Richard Branson wasnt patient enough to allow another administration come in so he can table his grievances before pulling out. After all, other Airlines foreign and local Airlines are still doing business and get Return on their investments. My advice is, if you wanna do business in Nigeria, become Nigerian in your business methodologies.
Become Nigerian by being corrupt @ d xpense of d masses d way these multinationals are presently doing, abi?
