In fact, most of them are APC agents benefiting frm Amaechi or some has been promised. Lemme even remind you of a man Anthony Enahoro. He was "prominent" nationally but he worked against his Midwest people's interest just to please the Action Group and he was hailed by the Western press. What happened next? The Midwest people triumphed overwhemly. Oba of Benin cursed him(Enahoro). He is late now but his deed will continue to ring a bell. This is the fate of Amaechi...the Rivers people shall continue to triumph!

Bro, I can't tell you more of what happens in Delta state than you can tell me. You live there, not me. The same applies to Rivers. The dynamics on ground are totally opposed to what obtains in the mainstream media.

Adol Peterside would have simply walked into Brick House if not for the twist in the polity in Rivers. The votes for Wike weren't actually for him; they were in protest against Amaechi. The election was more of avenging GEJs defeat than it was about Wike's victory. That was the way it went.

It's time Rivers people are allowed some deserved peace and quiet. Rivers have been in the spotlight for top long and for wrong reasons.

Conduct the election again. It will be the same loss for Amaechi. Unfortunately, it's that simple!

Boss, there were elections in Rivers state, though we all agree there were allegations of sabotage and electoral fraud. I can't say of others, but as for me, I'm in support of any system that will bring about a better Nigeria.

Also, I have finally stopped seeing Amaechi as someone who betrayed the ND. Though I used to see him that way bbefore.

Wike defeated him squarely. As for the court throwing Wike out, I'm sure it won't happen.

The outgoing Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has asked the President-elect Muhammadu Buhari, to support the 8th National Assembly in reducing the powers of the Federal Government and allow the state governments to have more power.

The governor, who claimed that Nigeria was operating a unitary state because of the enormous powers of the Federal Government, said this during a programme on Channels TV titled, View from the Top, on Monday.

He identified complacency as the reason why the Peoples Democratic Party failed at the last general elections, noting that the party realised too late that the All Progressives Congress had captured the South-West.

He said it was unfortunate that state governors had to seek the permission of the Federal Government before approaching the bond market for loans to undertake capital projects even though their states have the capabilities to pay back.

The senator-elect said, “The present revenue sharing formula should be reviewed in such a way that the Federal Government does not take too much money and then the state governments that have much to do, receive little or nothing and end up becoming salary paying centres instead of centres of development. We must also make the Federal Government less attractive.

“Some of the responsibilities on the exclusive list should be removed. If we are a true federal state, like Australia, we should allow the state governments to partner with the private sectors from outside the country.

“It is wrong for the Federal Government to borrow N50bn and then give an order that any state government that wants to borrow N200m has to take permission from the Minister of Finance. That is not a federation. That is a unitary government. Let’s not pretend that we are running a federal system of government, we are running a unitary government.

The governor expressed confidence in the ability of Buhari to deliver good governance.

He said, “I am happy that somebody like Muhammadu Buhari is coming to power. He is not coming to make money but to make a name for himself and deliver good governance. The incoming administration must support the lawmakers to reduce the powers of the Federal Government. “The PDP and the APC must collectively come together to reduce the weight on the Federal Government.”

Speaking on his achievements in office, he claimed that he is the only governor in the country who has been able to record 20 per cent in recurrent budgetary expenditure and then 80 per cent capital expenditure.
