PoliticsChristian Forum Slams Buhari Over Nigeria’s Membership Of Islamic Coalition. by PhockPhockMan(op): 4:43pm On Mar 18, 2016
A group, the Nigerian Christian Elders Forum, has strongly condemned the recent inclusion of Nigeria in the Saudi Arabia-led coalition against terrorism.
The decision to join the group was announced by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Addressing Journalists in Abuja, Friday, the NCEF chairman, Solomon Asemota, said the action was a clear negation of the rights of Nigerians as well as a lack of regard for the views of non-Muslim Nigerians who took part in bringing the new administration to power.
“Including Nigeria in the Saudi Arabia Military coalition of Muslims/Arab nations would appear that the foreign policy thrust of the current administration is to make Nigeria a satellite state of Saudi Arabia,” the group said.
“Any nation in which Islamists believe that they are sufficiently strong to exercise influence rarely experiences peace.
“Mr. President should kindly remember that over 50 per cent non-Muslims of Nigeria did not vote for the nation to become Sharia compliant,” the group said.
The NCEF said the inclusion of Nigeria in the Organisation of Islamic Conference, OIC, in 1975, as well as its recent inclusion in the Saudi-led coalition was an attempt by Muslim leaders to dominate the country, with the teachings of Islam.
“While Islam is a religion; Islamism, otherwise called political Islam, is a set of ideologies that hold that Islam is not a religion, but a political system meant to dominate the environment in which it is practised,” it stated.
The group said some policies and decisions of the Buhari government has given Nigerians cause for concern.
“N900 billion was released as bailout to states without appropriation. International commitments are being made without resource to the National Assembly,” it pointed out.
The group also noted the, “Attempt to fund deficit in the 2016 budget through issuance of Sukkuk loan which is a Sharia compliant loan”.
The NCEF aslo said the decision by the Kaduna State government to enact a religious bill was a shocking.
“We wish to express tremendous shock at the proposed Kaduna state bill. The proposed bill contravenes section 38 (1) of the 1999 constitution,” the group stated.
The NCEF expressed dismay at what it described as the Federal Government’s inaction to the carnage and destruction perpetrated by the Fulani Herdsmen.
“According to media reports over 300 Nigerians were allegedly massacred by the Fulani Herdsmen. Till today, there has been no prosecution of any of them,” it stated.
The NCEF also decried the decision of government to establish grazing reserves across the nation, saying the proposal is a deceptive attempt to appropriate the land of indigenous ethnic groups for Fulani Herdsmen to spread terror across the nation.
The group called on the government to convene a Council of State meeting to enable past presidents of Nigeria assess the developments in the country, and make suggestions that will lead to the creation of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
According to the group, the commission which should follow an enactment of law, should among other things, study the problem of terror in Nigeria and ensure the prosecution of culprits.
The NCEF called on ethnic groups to introduce community policing to protect its indigenes, while urging the government to re-introduce the study of history in secondary schools.

People just came here to nag for nothing. The army is doing its job. Many of the people commenting are not witnesses but just simply speaking from personal bias. If the president really wanted to eliminate pro-biafra, none of you will have the mouth to talk. Go and check what president obj did in niger delta.

So unless u have evidence to add to army's investigation, be quiet!
Whatever harm you wish others will surely get to you.

The Nigerian Army says it has commenced investigation into the recent killing of some pro-Biafra protesters in some parts of the south-east zone, especially Aba in Abia state, allegedly by its officers.

It stated that anybody found culpable would be decisively dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, who made the disclosure while addressing newsmen during his maiden visit to the headquarters of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, said a situation where troops open fire for the sake of fun would not be tolerated, adding that the investigation would be thorough.

“We are already investigating. Such incidences, when they occur and result in loss of lives, we usually investigate, that’s our procedure and just as I told you, we have our own rules of engagement, definitely, troops cannot just open fire, just for the sake of fun, we are investigating the matter,” he said.

He urged his officers and men to always respect their rules of engagement which he observed had enormous regards for human rights, noting however that there is a limit to what the military can tolerate.

“Since my appointment, I gave out my vision statement which is to have a professionally responsible army in the discharge of of its constitutional roles. These visions are been pursued and the results are there in all the formations. When we say professionalism, we do our duties in professional manners as thought to us in various training institutions.

“In the areas of operation, your colleagues in North East are doing very well and also your internal security operations are very impressive, you must maintain the standard and ensure that we work within the framework of our rules of engagement. Our rules of engagement also provides for human rights protection, its basically on human right protection and indeed protection of every innocent citizen.

PoliticsEFCC Should ‘behave’, Says Judge. The Cable. by PhockPhockMan(op): 3:02pm On Mar 14, 2016
Justice Yusuf Halilu of the federal capital territory (FCT) high court, Jabi, has granted Nicholas Ashinze, a colonel and ex-aide of Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA), who has been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria army, bail on self recognition.

Ashinze had filed a fundamental rights suit against the EFCC, the Nigeria army and Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, challenging his detention by the agents of the federal government since December 23, 2015. He asked for N500m in damages.

While delivering his ruling, Justice‎ Halilu stated the EFCC, the Nigeria army and other security agencies must learn to discharge their duties in accordance with the law.

“The respondents (EFCC and Nigeria army) have not behaved as if they live in a civilised society. They behaved like we are still in the military era,” the judge said.

“They must learn to behave themselves and act within the basic provisions of the law.”

He held that it was “illegal, wrongful and a blatant violation of the fundamental human rights of applicant” for him to be held for months without trial.

He, therefore, ordered the release of Ashinze forthwith on self-recognition.

“The EFCC’s motto is: Nobody is above the law; but they are acting as if they are above the law here,” Justice Halilu said.

“The EFCC’s Act is not superior to the 1999 constitution as amended. If the EFCC has a case against the applicant they should take him to court.”

However, he did not grant the prayer for the award of N500m against the government.

PoliticsSani Warns El-rufai To Stop ‘eyeing’ Buhari’s Seat. by PhockPhockMan(op): 2:37pm On Mar 14, 2016
Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna central, says Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, is “thinking of removing President Muhammadu Buhari” from office in 2019.

In a chat in the March edition of The Interview magazine, Sani advised el-Rufai to “face his job and stop putting eyes on the presidency”.

He accused El-Rufai of ruling like an emperor, promising to give him war or peace, whichever he chooses.

“It would be counter-productive for the governor to start thinking of evicting Buhari in 2019 to be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he told the magazine.

“El-Rufai should do his job and stop putting his eyes on the presidency.”

The lawmaker and the governor have been at loggerheads for reasons not known to the public, making the Kaduna state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to suspend Sani.

Dangiwa Umar, former military governor of Kaduna, also spoke in the edition, referring to Adams Oshiomohle, Edo sate governor; Edwin Clark and Tony Anenih, chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as “traitors.”

Responding to a question on the fortunes of former President Goodluck Jonathan after he was defeated in March, Umar said: “I compare them (Oshiomohle and co) to insects that cling to flowers. They are attracted by the nectar rather than by the beauty of the flower.

“Governor Adams Oshiomohle, who generously praised Jonathan as a true democrat, suddenly turned into his most virulent critic.”

Umar revealed that he advised Jonathan to sack his service chiefs during his days as acting president, but the former president was too confused and agitated to act.

Amira Behari refused to reveal face at the State Court in Munich last year

Appeared to testify against man who allegedly abused her in a train station

Judge tells her she must remove niqab to testify or risk going to jail herself

A Muslim woman who refused to remove her burka to testify against a man accused of abusing her has been warned by a German judge she will be jailed if she does not comply.

Amira Behari, 43, refused to reveal her face at the State Court in Munich last year when she appeared to testify against a man who allegedly abused her in a train station.

The man, identified only as Kai.O, allegedly called her an 'a******e' and told her to 'go back to where you belong.'

Judge Thomas Mueller said at the original hearing in November he wanted to see her face to 'read her emotions,' adding: 'I need to see you otherwise there will be considerable problems in adjudicating your case.'

Behari refused, saying: 'I have a God at the end of the world who will see me right at the end. I will not do this.'

In court she wore a niqab, which is an ultra-burka with only a gap for the eyes. She also wore gloves and a long leather coat.

Judge Mueller gave up and said he had no alternative but to find the accused not guilty.

But his decision enraged judges anjd prosecutors in Germany who appealed the decision and have now scheduled the case again for next week.

The prosecutor's office in Munich consulted with Koranic experts who said it was permissible for a woman to remove her niqab before the judicial authorities such as judges, police, prosecutors on the basis of needs and damage prevention.'

If she fails to comply on March 17, she faces a fine or even a spell in jail.
