Hello fam,
My visa was refused on 25th and I just got my GCMSNOTES today. See below for their reason for refusal and kindly advise accordingly. Many thanks!

Pa completed a university degree in home country and has been following a career since. Now wishes to study for a Master’s degree at University of Manitoba in order to enhance career prospects. Cost of studies is rather significant in light of pa’s/family’s financial situation and am not satisfied that any possible increase in income in future would justify such a significant expense. Studies to be supported by parents. There is no indication that pa’s parent are or were gainfully employed. Am not satisfied that pa’s ties to home country are sufficient to compel pa to leave Canada at the end of authorized stay and that motivation to study is genuine. Am not satisfied that pa’s career prospect in home country justify pa’s stated motivation and that the plan described in pa’s submission is sound. Am not satisfied that motivation to study is genuine. Refused

Hello fam!

I just want to clarify some things before repackaging my study permit application which was denied last week based on purpose of visit, no employment prospect and no personal assets and financial status.

I have applied for my GCMSnotr and I'm awaiting for it before I put in my next application. I have contacted my department to defer my admissions to fall 2018.

My questions

1. Does CIC see scholarship as a curse or what? I read somewhere that the role of the visa officer is to ensure that students can take care of themselves in Canada without any support from Canada.

Note: University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship worth $14,000cad yearly was my motivation in studying hard to achieve high CGPA. 4.80 no be beans (many things went in from 300l and it can't just waste like that). Scholarship has been my help, I got 100% scholarship in my undergrad....

Someone advised me to pay all tuition fees and accommodation for two years despite scholarship that I will get TRV with ease. Then I will get refund of tuition payment later.
How true is this?

2. In proving my home ties, is my business of 6months enough for this or I still need to show landed properties ?(I don't have any ). Can my sponsor's assets perfectly play this role of proving home ties.

Your opinions are highly appreciated

Many thanks.

Men, application refused last night. Heart broken beyond comprehension. After so much hope and effort to prepare the app the best way possible I could have. They ticked : not sure I will leave Canada at the end of my authorized stay with purpose of visit, job prospect in country of resident ....

Sorry brother about this. The same reasons again. Quite unfortunate, I think those cic don't want Nigerians again for winter. Dishing out the same reasons for genuine applicants.
Order for your GCMS note, defer your admission, tackle the reasons for denial and again have several options to fall back to.

Yes I submitted it, and will advice you do the same too, you should try to plug in every loop holes, don't give the VOs any reason, no matter how small to deny you TRV.

Regarding the court affidavit of return, it is like normal sworn affidavit, stating you will and reasons why you have to return, mine goes thus

********************************************************
I .... , male, Christian, Yoruba, Nigeria Citizen, residing at ... Declares as follows;
1. That I am a citizen of Nigeria
2. That I intend to further my education in Canada and have been admitted to pursue a MSc programme in the university of Manitoba, Winnipeg
3. That I intend to enter into Canada for the purpose of study only which will span over two years
4. That I am committed to returning to my home country upon completion of my study in 2019 as my family reside there
5. That I have to return as the first son of my family to take care of my my parents
6. That I now implore the concern authorities especially the High Commission of Canada to take note of the above stated facts and act accordingly
7. That this affidavit is now needed for documentation and official purposes
8. That I swear to this affidavit in good faith, believing same to be true and correct in accordance with the statutory declaration law of .... State of Nigeria 2006.
******************************************************

You can use that as a guide Ire o

Hello,

I'm new on this thread. Please I need information as regards to graduate studies in Germany for fall, 2018.

I graduated with a cgpa of 4.80 Agricultural Economics and Extension in 2016, currently doing NYSC and rounding up in December, 2017.

Any idea of school in Germany that offers full scholarship ?
Do I need to write any English proficiency exam to be accepted? Any choice of school that offer such and what's the admission application like?

I would be glad if someone can direct me on the forum.

Many thanks

I see. You also have not been involved in that and using it as a prospective would not mean that you will come back to it and it wouldn't just add up using that simply because you are not actively involved in the firm in any capacity aside owning it.

Maybe if you had shown contracts, transactions or activities relative to what you claim you have going on or would return to(your firm), it would reduce the officer's suspicion that you would not leave Canada after your program or that there is great prospect for you with your program at least with your firm/business.

It will make your purpose more deliberate. You need evidence than just writing. They just don't trust Nigerians completely, they believe any thing we say is a ploy to induce their judgment. Evidence would help more and because it can be used in a judiciary review process in a court should they make an error in law or judgement, it is treated with high regards than mere writing. Discretion is exercised when when an officer have to use the applicant's explanation and it can swing either ways. Noting beats evidence. They just can't help it. The IRP Act and regulation give complete accordance to evidence as a proof. The burden is will still be on you to satisfy the VO.

I'll suggest you wait for your GCMS file before you proceed with your reapplication. It will help you.

Regards.
Thanks for more clarification.

I'm just weak here. I thought I have put a solid application on ground.
My sole intention is to study and return to naija to establish my firm. Though, my reason for choosing Canada is to establish a strong relationship for exportation of agricultural commodity. It is well.

Please how do I order for GCMS note? The $23 and $5 approach. ..

Many thanks

Well said bros, the VOs may even see your firm as a mobile one that you can establish in Canada and such may not consider it as a genuine employment prospects that can cause you to return.

In addition to tackle employment problem, I think you didn't add your payslip and a letter of introduction from your office would have added to the list of evidences you provided.

You could also get a court affidavit of return to tackle the issue of returning on completion of program, I had the same issue during my application and that was what I used and God grant me favour, consider it too... Ire o
My company doesn't issue payslip. They just pay into account.

I sent you a pm sir, kindly reply.

ok, that's much better. Somehow, while I will let the gurus talk more on this, I feel that work letter may have affected the process as the pay scale may not have been high enough. Aside that, we have seen the recent erratic behaviour by these VOs that predicting approval or refusal following solid applications is no longer straight forward.

I think you should have included your personal statement, even if you had gotten sponsorship and tuition waivers, especially when you included work factors in the mix.

As advised, for now, ignore all negative thoughts, request for your gcms notes, repackage and refire. it will end in praise.
Annual salary of 900k plus is small tho
Personal statement of account? I be small boy, not up to 300k in my account.

Bro, sorry about the outcome of your application.

Just like it's been mentioned already, you will need your GCMS file to best tackle the issues raised by the VO.
However, let me explain this aspect of "Employment prospect"

You were not refused for 'Current employment situation' which means your employment details, letter and ID served their purpose in your application.

"Employment prospect in home country" in this case means the prospects of your proposed program in Nigeria upon completion. They have to see that the program you are going to study will be lucrative in Nigeria for you. If you had a future employment or needed the master to move to an advanced position in your current employment or had a business plan or even a study plan to explain or show how the master degree program would increase your chances of securing a better job upon graduation, it would have mitigated against that reason of refusal.

So the onus is on you to satisfy the officer that something tangable or lucrative moving forward awaits you in Nigeria when you finish your program. This issue is about the prospect of your field as regards employability after your program and not your current employment situation. It is expected that the master degree will move your career forward, you have to explain and evidence how this is possible and also why you have to study your program in Canada.
Meanwhile, I sent several PMs before putting in my application but there was no response.

What I need now is solution on how to tackle this things. My friend got her GCMS for her first application and tackled all issues raised about her refusal still denied with the same reasons as mine.

Everything just weak me

I'm not even sure this CIC reads Nigerian applicants thoroughly. I provided employment letter and ID CARD, CAC documents of personal firm. Still refused based on employment prospects and personal assets.

Likewise a friend was also refused based on the same reasons though this 2nd refusal. She's married, letter of introduction from workplace, employment letter and as well husband personal assets inclusive.

The same University of Manitoba, different course, IGES funding. I applied 6th of sept and she reapplied 10th of September (previous denial was based on travel history and purpose of visit).

This is confusing

Please, kindly modify and scrap off the attached refusal letter of yours for security reasons.

Also, thanks for sharing your profile to the house. The gurus in the house will look into it and give you an insight on what went wrong on your app, while we wait for your CAIPS Note.

In the main time, I'll best advice you order for CAIPS NOTE. (GCMS NOTE), this will help indicate the factual reason why the visa officer refused your application. If you go through Page 0 of this thread, you will find the authorized site which you can use to order your notes. With your CAIPS NOTE you will be in the best position to know how to tackle the reasons.

Once again sorry for your refusal.

You are wrong --- Go back to your drawing table and do your research well.
Wrong about what?

You can secure a supervisor and not get admitted and can also be admitted without securing a supervisor.
A high CGPA, very convincing SOP and letter of recommendation are vital for getting admission

I studied Agricultural Economics B.sc, trying to get admission for a masters degree in Agricultural Economics. It's been tough for me.
Hello Kelvinkate,

It's not tough as it seems to be. I studied agricultural extension and rural development and I got admitted to University of Manitoba for Msc. Agribusiness and agricultural economics, winter 2018.

Most universities in Canada that offers graduate admission in related course doesn't need you to secure a supervisor before admission but you can contact as many faculty members as possible stating your intentions but note this won't influence your admission. All new grad students are expected to at least have finished first semester and observed which lecturer and area fits their interest and strengths.

Admission decision are always evaluated based on the statement of purpose, letters of recommendation and transcripts.

Aside your academic grade, you have to write a very strong and convincing statement of intent(Biographical sketch) highlighting your motivations, research interest, your goals after completion of Msc. program, why the uni, and your academic achievements. Just short and precise (One to two pages is enough, it all depends on your use of words).

Lastly, ensure you involve God in your applications.

Below are the list of Canadian universities that offers masters in Agricultural economics or related field.

1. McGill University
2. University of Alberta
3. Dalhousie university
4. University of British Columbia
5. University of Saskatchewan
6. University of Manitoba
7. University of lethbridge
8. University of Guelph
9. University of Winnipeg
10. Brandon university

I hope these helps

Draw your audience in with a story, then go for the kill. I find that starting with a story or an anecdote is effective, but everyone has their unique way of starting that works for them. Here is how I started mine:

Growing up in Nigeria, I observed the direct impact of diseases on families, friends and neighbors. So many cases of preventable disease infections that left many incapacitated for life and even dead. Cases of cholera, polio, meningitis, tuberculosis, women’s health issues, etc. I particularly remember one of my aunts who developed complications during childbirth and bled to death because the nearest hospital was very far from the village she and her husband lived. I remember a close family friend who lost both of his legs to polio. I also remember as a child visiting a maternity ward and seeing a room meant for two or three women, housing up to twenty women with their new born children. The list goes on. In all of these experiences growing up in Nigeria, my young mind was expanding along with my growing body. From an early age, I began to envision of a better world and my part in making it possible. I remember wanting to do something about all of these problems. But I didn’t know where to begin. In addition, I didn’t want to become a doctor because I didn’t enjoy chemistry and math in school. The humanities and social sciences were my forte..............................
Well articulated. You're just bunch of excellence in international studies.
Keep the good work bro

As a first class graduate, there are a myriad of scholarships available to international students from Canada's universities. With the right fine tuning writing a compelling statement of intent and research proposal, there are many universities in Canada waiting to swing wide open their gates for you. As for the visa application, the 800 pound gorilla in the room, it's a leveler. Everyone has to meet the same requirements of financial and home ties. I have seen some first class, fully funded graduates rejected for a visa. But if you continue to stay and keep abreast to this forum, I am pretty sure you will learn fast when it comes to the visa application time, how to make the odds work in your favor. Like what to say to the VO in your statement of explanation, how to assemble a winning portfolio in general.
