Interesting. Wondering she didn’t state that after the interview. Also, does the processing times include weekends?

Swerveking14:
That's why I said it's a waiting game... it's obvious she wants to verify your admission from your school and your sevis fee payment...but don't worry it's all good, only that AP takes time.

Yes, she only took my I20, passport, receipt for SEVIS payment and visa confirmation letter.

The interview was really short and it was approved. It’s one week already but still “administrative processing”.

Swerveking14:
The Waiting game...lol. My first question is "Hope the document the vo took from you is legit"...AP is a normal process if the VO feels he or she needs to verify any of your document, could last a week or looooooonnnnggggeeeerrrrr.

Hello, please is administrative processing of DS-160 Status after interview a normal process for study visa?

Please, how does UK count the 15days standard processing times? Is weekend inclusive or strictly working days (Monday-Friday)?

Many thanks cool
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Phocusjosh(m): 7:37am On Aug 08, 2018
Thanks for your kind words.
Not necessarily a different course rather higher level of degree in order to avoid being refused TRV based on purpose of visit. This can be well tackled with a well drafted SOP stating convincing reasons for going to such level of degree. But my case is different because I've passed through the hurdles of obtaining TRV.

I'm after my career growth than the country. My sole aim of going to Canada is to study, research and advance my career which UK will offer better.

logophilia:

Congratulations on your scholarship.
Sounds like a good idea a lot of people come to Uk just to crossover. But i think the program you would go for in Canada afterwards, should be a different course or at a higher level than the one in the Uk. To be frank i may want to go to canada straight to minimize the risk of HAVING TO GO BACK TO NAIJ. But the scholarship offer hmmm. Just think about it very well.

Most definitely. According to what CIC stated on my letter of introduction; I must enter Canada by 2020-10-31 ,which is exactly the last day my TRV will expire. I don't need to reapply for a new TRV rather show a new admission letter at POE. You know TRV is different from study permit and its only issued at POE.

Thanks for your concern

OlowoB:

Fantastic idea, God will perfect your plans.

Quick question, will your TRV (issued in 2018) be valid and acceptable till the new deferred fall 2019 admission date at POE or you will need to apply for another TRV while in the UK?
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Phocusjosh(m): 12:43am On Aug 08, 2018
Thanks for your concern. How about going to Canada after my studies in the UK? That's why I said Canada is not running anywhere; planning to defer my admission at my school in Canada by one year after the issuance of my UK Visa. I totally agree with your view points which I understood perfectly.

OlowoB:

Hello bro, congrats on your Canada student visa and your fully funded scholarship for study in UK. what I am about to say might not be a popular opinion on here, I would say it regardless. We need balanced inputs before making life decisions.

Please DO NOT consider money alone, always think long term.

You may pay money for your studies in Canada but the prospect of getting a guaranteed 3 years post study visa for an 18 months program in Canada with the option of getting a PERMANENT RESIDENCY, in my opinion, should not be overlooked just because you got a fully funded scholarship in Uk with no guarantee of a job even with a good course and school. Whatever money you spend on fees in Canada for your masters, you will make that money within 16 months of work once done with your masters.

This has nothing to do with running away from Nigeria as someone posited above, it is about getting a foreign experience.

Consider both options, think carefully and I wish you all the best. The choice is yours

UK is a fantastic place to study. If UK had post study visa, I will recommend ahead of any place in the world.

P.S If you already have a job waiting for you or a back up plan (probably business) after studies in Nigeria, please go to UK (take advantage of the scholarship) and forget Canada.

Canada is not running away but the scholarship is an opportunity that can maximized now. Ain't spending a dime in the UK rather get paid for studying. One stone to kill two birds grin

Why not go to Canada cos the it has more prospect than UK that will send you home after your study. Hope you know it's a must to return to your home country as a common wealth scholar

I was denied Canadian study permit last year, then reapplied in March this year and got two years visa in June. Now, I don't feel like going to Canada because I got Commonwealth shared scholarship (fully funded) which is tenable in UK. I declared the above while filling the Tier 4 application.

My question is, will UKVI frown at my Canadian study visa?
@justwise
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Phocusjosh(m): 8:44pm On Aug 05, 2018
The document checklist was generated before going to TLS. Only three documents were stated on the checklist.

Also, how can UKVI be contacted?
justwise:

Yes that was because you did not submit it.

You can try your luck by contacting the embassy to see if you will be asked to send it else you need to pray long and hard about the outcome because it could lead to a refusal.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Phocusjosh(m): 7:29pm On Aug 05, 2018
After submission of visa application, a document checklist was generated and degree certificate was not stated. Degree certificate was only stated on his CAS Statement.
justwise:

Which one?

Please, I need clarification. A friend of mine submitted his Tier 4 application at TLS Ikeja on Friday but forgot to include his degree certificate because it was not stated on the documents checklist. Can he be refused based on that or UKVI will request for additional document? Or what do you advise he can do at this moment..

This is well articulated and truer than true...kudos boss

kpizzle:
Thanks @COPR and@jnyuwa02 and every other gurus in the house. Your views on the issue on SOP have prompted me to share my thoughts openly. I have been following this topic since March/April and I have seen many approval and refusal (including mine) and this has shape my view about the whole process.

There is this general believe that we cannot second guess the VO and they take their decisions based on impulse. I am not sure about this assumption, the VOs are professionals and they cannot be playing "Russia roulette" or throwing dices to take their decisions. As someone with several years of working experience in a professional environment, there will sure be standard operational procedure or guideline they follow when taking their decisions.

Students that finished with first class and are given full or partial scholarship are almost 90% or more to granted visa. This is no brainer because the VO wants to filter out the talents from other countries and support Canada to get the cream de la cream of the brains around the world. I have seen such people unnecessarily panicking on this forum and giving themselves unwarranted high blood pressure.

Also, people with “good” sponsor in term of cash only need to show proper ties to the sponsor via their relationship. The VO clearly needs to be comfortable that when one get into their country they will not become nuisance and start hustling on the street of Canada. They need to be sure someone will not get struck and desperate in their country. Instead it is more like a FDI (foreign direct investment) into their country.

This issue of family ties is the most confessing for me and this is my own thinking about it. The VO definitely knows that if someone is married with or without children, the person will want to bring their spouse and children to Canada too and it is could serve as a means of relocating. Landed properties belonging to the applicant can be sold at any time and cannot be a stumbling block to relocate. For me, I think home ties are favorable if ones family/spouse or the applicant has a company to return to or some establishment has guaranteed a job offer or the Dad or Mom has properties willed or transfers to the applicant.

As for me, part of the reason I was refused was based on poor academic record which was weird. Although I had a 2’1 but I was able to get admission into a top school, University of Waterloo. My argument was that “wetin concern VO with academic qualification, no be the school suppose check that one” but hey, we need to understand the Mordi of operadi of the VOs. They see themselves as a gate to Canada and they have to make sure they get the best into their country. They logical analyses all scenarios to decide on the visa via their “checklist”. They have seen all sort of people from those that get to Canada and don’t even attend school to those that could not cope with the rigor of academic and also those that decided to ship all their families into Canada immediately. They are just trying to protect their country from being “invaded” by someone who was able to “con” their schools to get admission.

I want to conclude with this note that we cannot continue with the narrative that we don’t know how the VO takes their decision. From all the shared approval and refusal we can have a better idea of what is going on. For those of my brothers and sisters who are in my shoes, maybe you are self-sponsored or has a weak sponsor and maybe you don’t have a first class with no offer of scholarship and maybe one is going for PGD, please don’t just give up. Keep fighting on, pour you heart into those SOP/LOE and pray that the God lord will Favour you.

It's not vague, just that you could not convince the VO enough the need to study your intended course of study at University of Waterloo. Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for which you have been accepted?, What is your overall educational goal and overall career goal?, What have you been doing (by way of employment/professional development) since the completion of your undergraduate studies and now?, How will this program enhance your employment opportunities in your country of residence/citizenship? (i.e. how will your skill be valuable to the Nigerian market?), i.e. briefly explain the impact of your course on your future career and your home country
6. Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your country of residence?

The key reason for writing an SOP is to demonstrate to the embassy that your purpose of visiting Canada is genuine, and that you will come back to Nigeria after your studies. It has to be very persuasive and convincing. Btw, the VO knows that you might not come back to Naija... they are not idiots... what they need to be convinced about is that you would freely come back to Nigeria if you cannot legally stay in Canada anymore.

To convince the VO (visa officer):
1. you will need to be specific about what it is your Canada education would help you do once you come back to Naija. Just saying that you will come back home not convincing
2. you need to be specific about what it is about that program or its curriculum that would help you achieve your stated goals
3. you need to be specific about what it is you have done that makes you a credible applicant

Basically, you need to emphasize on what you have done and exactly what you will do when you return to Nigeria (be very clear and unambiguous about this).

Share your profile for other guru(s) to help out.

All the best in your next application.

kpizzle:
Attached is the comment from my GCMS note

I think it is too generic and vague and it doesn't tell me anything.

My only thought is that maybe I need a better SOP/LOE.

Please house help to analyse
