FC Seoul 2 United 3
United made it three victories out of three in the toughest test of the Asia tour so far, beating FC Seoul 3-2 with goals from Wayne Rooney, Federico Macheda and Dimitar Berbatov, while Ji-sung Park was warmly-received on his homecoming. The 64,000 capacity Korean crowd had been baying for an appearance from their hero since he first emerged for the warm-up, but they would have to wait for a fifteen-minute cameo late on as the midfielder was named on a ten-man bench.
Another United player looking to make his mark was Federico Macheda, handed his second consecutive start on this Asia Tour, which suggests the 17-year-old may feature prominently this season. Indeed, pre-match, Sir Alex described him as a “hero in the making”. And Macheda was the creator of United’s first real opening. Charging down the left channel, he cut inside and squared his pass to Ryan Giggs, but the Welshman miscalculated his volley and swung an air-shot with his right boot.
A beautifully flighted pass over the top caught United’s defence cold, and the dangerous Dejan Damjanovic stole in and poked the ball past Kuszczak to give FC Seoul the lead. It didn’t take long for United to restore parity, however, and there was little surprise over who scored it. Rooney had shown some nice touches in any forays forward and he was perfectly placed to head home John O’Shea’s curling cross. However, Damjanovic had the final say in a competitive first half, again unlocking United’s defence to dink his finish over the onrushing Kuszczak. With United 2-1 down at the halfway stage, this was certainly proving to be the Reds’ sternest challenge in Asia this summer.
With United 2-1 down at the halfway stage, this was certainly proving to be the Reds’ sternest challenge in Asia this summer.
There were two changes at the break, with Edwin van der Sar replacing Kuszczak and Darron Gibson coming on for Darren Fletcher. There was more purpose about United’s play, highlighted by an equaliser shortly before the hour mark. Rooney’s lofted pass found the run of Macheda and the Italian teenager let his natural instincts take over. He rounded the keeper before his elevated finish beat the last defender.
It was Macheda’s last touch - he was replaced by Michael Owen on 61 minutes, as part of four substitutions, which saw Rooney, Giggs and Anderson all exit to be replaced by Dimitar Berbatov, Paul Scholes and Nani. Sir Alex’s substitutions were clearly making the difference. Gibson, on at half time, did really well on the right flank to cross for new arrival Berbatov to nod in at the near post to give the Reds a 3-2 lead.
United: Kuszczak (Van der Sar 46); O'Shea, Ferdinand, Brown, Evra (Fabio 74); Fletcher (Gibson 46), Anderson (Nani 61), Carrick (Park 74), Giggs (Scholes 61); Rooney (Berbatov 61), Macheda (Owen 61). Subs not used: Evans, Tosic. Here's the link for the full report. http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=%7B3165B97F%2D681E%2D4B39%2DBE53%2D94EC9521C3DA%7D&newsid=6636751 |

Sam Milla: We have a section for jokes around here. Dont we?
The first response on every topic has a very significant role to play on other responses.
People can asily follow up your response and derail the whole topic. So if you want to jokes, go here https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/board-15.0.html.
The next time you make joke on another section apart from that, You could be banned. WTF? Bro, take a chill pill now. We're all happy for Federer, he doesn't have a bigger fan than I. Do you want us to start arguing about the choice of names and their possible growth rates? This is the sports section. Federer bi mo, good for him. Congratulatory messages and jokes abound. Because you've not seen those that want to marry them yet? |

He'll almost always be under pressure but hopefully he should pull through. Ronaldo started blossoming after RvN left. This might be the opportunity he needs too. Apart from Neville now and Hargo, do we have other injury concerns for now? Coded, shut up jo. It's our secret. |

Blame it on the A-A-A-Alcohol. Why do I get a feeling we've not heard the last of this debt matter? Tkb, 6 players have been identified by Goal.com as key to a Post-Ronaldo Man Utd. They are Wayne Rooney, Berbatov, Carrick, Hargo and M. Owen. How come everyone thinks Nani can't step up? I however know next season has to be a team effort. Who else apart from these 6 can we point as key and why? |

Gary Neville is injured again. He's been sent back home from Asia. I really do hope he's fit on time for next season's start. Any which way, Rafael Da Silva is proving to be a good replacement on the Right flank as well as Mr, Everywhere Oshea. |

Wenger'll never resign an old player, well not in recent past or the forseeable future. Arsenal should be just fine, Nasri or not. Alonso is a no-go area, too expensive, maybe too old for the long term. If everyone stays fit, you guys should do well. There's good young cover too in Gibbs, Ramsey and Vela. |

I expect him to celebrate wildly. If he's sane enough to say crap about his old boss, i'm sure he'll find the presence of mind to mock him if he scores. |
