Even the treasury bills interest rate can't keep up with the massive inflation and dollar/naira exchange. Can you tell me why someone will still want to invest in Nigeria? What is the point of bank giving businesses forex when they can sell to Aboki who will sell at black market rate and split profit with them. By the end of this administration we will have witnessed the greatest capital flight in Nigerian history through forex. We have had 2 rates since 3 years ago and some people are capitalizing on the stupidity of the FG big time. If I was a banker with access to forex I for don hammer by now.

How does on buy forex abeg. I need to get all my naira out of that country at some point.

This is what I'm saying. This has been our mentality and that's why our naira will continually drop in value. God help make e no be like Zimbabwean dollar o

Sir, this is not a matter of crypo or Western world

It's simple law of demand & supply

Government is not doing well in the area of commrce especially exportation

If government could create enabling environment for exporters there will be reduction in this scarcity of foreign exchange

Libra coin is solving this since it's involving government and financial authorities. Yet in favour of the western world because Libra coin is most likely to be traded in euros which is more stable than most currencies in the world

Go and write this somewhere, cryptocurrency will never outrun fiat currency. Anyone delving into cryptocurrency is gambling because no government will allow a currency that it cannot control to thrive its domain.

Government wants to be in charge of everything that happens in its domain that's why cryptocurrency can't take the place of fiat currency without government involvement.

Just to be sure that they scare people from buying into a decentralized crypto, governments are claiming that virtual currency is used to fuel the dark web.

Get me clearly, I'm never in support of it either. But with what facebook is planning for his crypto currency(libra coin), this might be the beginning of universal money because in his government can look into it and can't be traded unlike other crypto. The only advantage it has is you can save the value of your money with Libra. Yet our wealth is going to the western world. I'm seeing Africans being the beneficiaries of this universal basic income (UBI) after we are being rendered useless with the introduction of AI which is taking over every profession.

I fear for Africa and our generation to come

400bitcoins:
haba!! Haba how many bank users are into cryptocurrency? Besides they have limited spending to 500$ monthly. Some banks 200$ monthly.

Imagine the number of people purchasing crypto daily which is valued in dollars. Imagine the immense wealth leaving our country daily. What do you think attributed to the continues rise in the value of bitcoin and other crypto if not the demand? To many Nigerians and world at large today, the surest and quickest way to financial freedom is crypto.

Monthly limit isn't the issue but the population diving into it. As at today, I'm 95% sure that 15m people has at least a few dollars worth of bitcoin or any other crypto. If we assume each has $10 crypto worth, that whooping $150m gone to western world and this grows daily.

My view...

The western world are exploiting us big time now than ever. They tried to find an explanation to this crypto thing but the more you study, the more confused you are. They say it's decentralized but someone/some sets of people started it. Hmmmmmm.... Shey this thing no be ponzi like this? Do you still remember egold, ebullion etc. Where are they today?

We need to think deep.... And wake up in Africa

Could massive purchase of crypto be the cause? I think yes.

Romance / Re: The Lady In My Life, My Burden. by phr33man(m): 3:14pm On Jul 28, 2020
LordNicvuitton:
Hi Romancelanders, don't know if it's right to share this topic here, but I'll do for now.

I'm Victory, from the East and currently a resident of Edo state. I came to this state, as an intern and thereafter, still served here and in the course of all these, I thought out and established a laundry business, which is just about 8 months old. This was to keep life going and to better bond well with the lady in my life currently.

While in Edo state, having rounded my internship & kickstarting service sometime around 2017, I met this Kiki Osemudiamen (Name changed), and it was nothing serious at 1st, cos I never really thought I'd date someone here, fact is that I never thought I'd stay beyond my service year. I met her while she was in 200l. We encouraged each other, she saw potentials and had faith in me just like I have so much faith in her. She is simplistic, encourages me to save and I in turn, encouraged her and guided her through some of her studies. She passed her 2nd MB.BS. and is currently awaiting lifting of the lockdown on schools, so she can start her clinicals.

Problem is that she came from a not buoyant family financially, and although both parents are alive, she struggles to survive/feed daily. Her dad supplies about 1000litres/trip water to households, while her mum sells at the local market. I on the other hand, came from a middle class family but my Dad is late since 2012, and I've been a sponsor of my education and that of my younger ones through the lil I inherited (which mum manages for now) plus my various endeavours. She depends on me for daily meals and other basic essentials, in fact I had to place her on salary in my laundry shop during this lockdown, so she plays the role of secretary in my shop too.

The latest challenge came about, yesterday. While she slept in the shop, I was out on errand, someone sneaked into the shop and stole her android phone with all of her e-medics textbooks (she reads mostly e-copies because she can't afford hardcopies), she has been crying all through and I really don't know what to do. Since I knew her, She'd been an appendage and an extra financial burden to me, I can't begin to list what I've done for her, although I kept reminding her never to not have entitlement mentality and she does appreciate. Out of desperation to ease her pain, I promised to sponsor her in getting a new phone. I have burdens, huge ones, I'm yet to acquire a diesel engine for my laundry (I use ponytail industrial iron which has higher voltage/current than normal ones), plus other related merchandise that I need to set up and I feel like she slows down my financial pace.

Honestly, I don't do all these for her, hoping for any personal gains, in the words of my daddy in the Lord, Prophet T.B. Joshua, He said and I quote: "We make a living by what we get and we make a life by what we give" but I am almost fed up and tired, especially when I remember that both her parents are still alive.. I am scared that that for the 1st time, I may fail her in that financial obligation because I honestly need money now, with the whole pandemic issue plus, I feel like she slows me down in life financially and a huge burden to me. Right now, she's so attached to me, more so that when I initially wanted to hault our relationship, it almost nearly affected her academics negatively. Please I need matured minds to help me think this through and garnish me with advice(s) because I almost feel so choked up and a rising urge to relocate from here, so i can breathe again.

NB: Advice from married couples and those in serious relationships, will be highly appreciated.

Modified: She went to her bank (First bank) this morning, only to be informed that about 20k (Her mum's business money) has been used to purchase recharge voucher. Her mum sends/receives money from distant customers through her account. Yesterday's scenario, all over again. Please folks, lock your SIM cards just as much as you lock your phones. Learn from this painful experience please.

Op

Why are you complaining now? It's not new to you. You complained of slowing down your journey to financial freedom but ur pr**k no gree you concentrate. This will surely happen. You know you have responsibilities. You need to wait a bit longer before succumbing to your body need. Aside her condition, you need to take care of who you claim you love (it's a responsibility). Even if she's making more money than you, u need to still spend your token on her no matter how little to maintain your ego as a man. When you don't have, you let her know. Besides she knows you ain't a stingy type. And she's not blind that things ain't really moving fine these days. She knows your aspirations and it's glaring to her that the pace you are moving isn't okay. Just talk it out with her. You can start by sharing your phone(thats if you are transparent enough with her), so she can read with it. Make she pend social media first. If you are really in for a serious relationship, this shouldn't be an issue at all because more of things awaits you in marriage.

My bro. U Don make mistake for succumbing to your pr**k while chasing ur dreams with other side responsibilities. Pr**k dey also bring more responsibilities ni and will really retard you. You should have waited for like 2 years more before dating her. Then, you have your financial stance no. Matter how little.

God will see you through

Business / Re: After NYSC What With #500,000 In My Account? by phr33man(m): 3:13pm On Jul 26, 2020
Cof1ex:
Am really going to be straight here. I was able to save #200,000 through a side hustle (riding okada) early last year (jan-may) while awaiting service and up to another 100k i used for service.

I abandoned the money in a fixed deposit account and moved on for nysc... During my nysc, i found my way to the secretariat which gave me chance to do small hustle. I got a factory work which was paying me 25-35k (with loads of stress and i was settling them at the secretariate with 7k). With that, i was able to save all my allowee(#310,250) except the first that was paid in camp cash.

I traveled home during the early corona virus lock down as corpers were advised to go home or any safe place and my factory work was back sliding as materials were costly in the market. >>>

Currently am done with nysc and left my work before the lock down, critically thinking of what next to do with my life. Contemplating on staying back at ogun (sango otta) where i served or going back to abia (my state) and start up fishery or piggery, or poultry, or computer center, or dry cleaning. Just lost in thought. I know how hard i worked to gather this money, i starved myself and deprived myself enjoyment, and the shame of a graduate riding okada (as my dad was financially ok before he died 2k17). I just don't want to carry two legs put for river talk say na testing..

Please help!!!! Lala abeg push to fp

My bro, don't leave that bike biz which you have experience with. Just upgrade a bit probably try with hire purchase. Use what's left on farming either rearing snails or fishery. Congrats! You are one of those few that made something out of NYSC. In my opinion, remain in Santo. There's nothing in Abia to do with this sum o. 2. Stay where u have no one because u think straight there. 3 u might need job to support your hustle because biz takes 3-5 years to grow o and I'm sure you should be planning on making a family in 2-3 years time that's if you haven't started. So Sango is ur best bet. I was in ur show this time 2015 (realized a little more sha with teaching and exam Runz) and I thank God for where I am today. God that did mine is still on the throne and will surely help you too. Remain blessed

Career / Re: Take A Look At These 27 Laws Of Military Career That Can Equally Help You In Lif by phr33man(m): 4:38pm On Jul 18, 2020
Chuks7807:
1.) Your rifle and your ammo are more important than your life. Better be dead than lose them.

2.) You can never be the winner in any argument with your superior. Even when you have won.

3.) Every commander needs your advice but not in public.

4.) If there is a competition, don't come first, and don't come last.

5.) Your soldiers are the backbone of your work. Treat them well.

6.) If you offend a higher authority, carry your cross.

7.) If your soldier offends a higher authority, carry his cross.

8.) Remember that the smartest and most intelligent officers often do not get to the top. Only the most loyal ones do.

9.) Don't be deceived. Many commanders do not like eye service.

10.) Never "contest" a woman with your superior. It is the fastest way to die and many have gone that way.

11.) The wife of your superior is either a goldmine or a landmine. If you are not sure of which she is, avoid her.

12.) Be brave. Even if you are a coward.

13.) If your superior admires your girlfriend, surrender her. If he admires your wife, stand by her. A girlfriend is an accolade. An accolade can be lost without dire consequences. Your wife is your crown. You are nothing without her.

14.) Don't ever beg for mercy. It is the foremost manifestation of weakness and the military environment has no respect for weaklings.

15.) Don't ever solicit for "welfare". If you are "issued", be very thankful.

16.) Don't look for your seniors. Let them look for you. If they look for you, don't keep them waiting.

17.) If you don't like a colleague, let him know you don't like him. If he takes steps to warm up to you, don't embrace him. Accommodate him.

18.) A lie is an abomination - and a critical part of initiative.

19.) If you are lucky to have stumbled on "mega" money, maintain your old lifestyle. If you can't maintain your old lifestyle, maintain a low profile. Camouflage and concealment are not only for the warfront. "Shine" is one reason things are seen.

20.) Remember that drinking, smoking and womanizing are prominent features of the job yet, no medals are allocated for them.

21.) Don't look too smart before your superiors. Instead, look stupid before them. People are generally comfortable with stupid people whom they can easily control.

22.) Wait for your time.

23.) Know that the enemy's degree of training is dependent on yours. If he is well trained, then, you are poorly trained. If he is poorly trained, you are well trained.

24.) You are a soldier. Not a priest.

25.) If you are tired of the job, resign.

26.) Never reject a gift from a superior except in protest of a salient point. It is the greatest indirect show of disloyalty.

27.) Be everywhere. Every time.

USE YOUR HEAD O!

THESE ARE THE 27 LAWS OF MILITARY CAREER BUT SOME CAN EQUALLY HELP YOU IN LIFE AS A CIVILIAN.

If 70% of politicians, can invest their loots like dangote: Nigeria will be a great country.

Who told you many of our politicians ain't hiding heir loots under him? I'm yet to believe he solely owns this enormous wealth in Nigeria. I'm not saying he's not wealthy but not as they say. There are some white angels investors who are politicians behind him..... Any looted funds placed under a man like dangote is gone for good because he's already seen as a stinkly wealthy man. And that's where he gets more of his wealth. I have nothing against dangote. In fact he's my closest mentor being a Nigerian Billionaire industralist. I wish to meet him one day and possibly surpass him. So help me God.
