gabby18: Yeah...that's why I said a little quantity not a full cup ...I don't think giving the child 2ml of juice to taste wld cause a sweet tooth or decay overnight.. in my case, syringes, droppers,spoons...every other trick failed and ended up being soaked in his clothes. Ok mama. Too much sense mama |

Also, mamas that have started solid, you can try this meal: Irish potato, carrot and egg (cook all together) and blend. Kids enjoy it and by that you are incorprating beta carotene, fibre, potassium and antioxidants which carrots has and potato which is a veg. This makes them like their vegetables because they can taste it and know it when given later. For the meal, prepare and thank me later. |

gabby18: Try it out with a little quantity of juice or fanta or something sweet first of all...if he accepts, switch to the actual meds... Pls, let's try and avoid fizzy drinks ooo. 1. It's bad for their tender age, spoils their teeth and also makes them have sweet tooth which later becomes a problem with them eating things that are not sweet. I will advice you use the syringe method, whereby you put by the side of the mouth of the child. |

I don't want to send him back to school again few days of going he was battling with bacteria infection. Abeg sabi mamas wat do I do? Praise God! I can imagine with all the sleepless nights but what can will do, they can't be with us all the time. I will suggest you try to build his immune system, if he is one year and above, you can pound garlic, ginger, then add a tbsp of honey and add little drop of lemon and give to him (if he can take it), mine takes it though. It helps build their immune system, it also serves as an anti-inflammation for bacteria and all. Also make cos liver oil your friend. This has helped me lot, atleast hospital wahala has reduced. Then, the slightest cough, I just give honey before it increases. |

ty01: I guess so too. My 6 months + pregnant wife and I and two kids met a male VO and it was a success story; the four of us were granted the visa. I honestly thought he was going to deny us at some point as he kept on typing and typing and typing like forever and suddenly asked ‘you already had two kids in Nigeria, so why the US for this one?’ My wife was going to answer but I told her to allow me. So I responded by saying ‘well, we were already planning a beautiful vacation in Texas when we discovered we were going to have a baby and we were like what better way to have our last baby. Being the last pregnancy, hopefully, I intend to give my wife the best delivery experience ever and would love that our other kids witness it as well. I am hoping you wouldn’t deny us this anticipated beautiful moment - with a smile.’ The VO took a deep breath, typed briefly and then for the first time checked my passport. He asked if the UK visa on it was for family vacation as well and I answered in the affirmative. While he was typing yet again I bent towards my first son and whispered audibly, ‘ you’re going to America son’ the VO paused at this point and said I heard you while he smiled and then said ‘I have approved you visas bla bla bla.’ I rubbed her tommy, kissed her on the forehead before even telling the VO thank you. He then said safe journey and wishing you a memorable delivery. I may be wrong though, but my experience with the male VO was different, the other lady VOs denied every single person while we were there. Awww, this just made me cry (joy), Congratulations and wish you a memorable pregnancy journey |

iaatmgirl: Pls this needs to be emphasized
I remember receiving the advice of pican n bonababe when my lo was born. To give from 2 /3 months. I just always wondered why we wud be treating sthng that does not exist.
Thank God I didn't. my boy is 8 months n yet to grow any tooth. Means he'd have been taking it for 5months.
It's just like the mulrivite thing or vit c. I don't think giving baby daily is necessary. If having cold or recovering from illness, yes or if recommended by Dr but not giving because you feel like. Pls these babies are too precious for this. Vit.C and multivitamins is essential because they help to build their immune system and also because their they can not get enough nutrients and vitamins from their daily meals, hence the need for the medications. Note. I'm not a doctor but that was what the health visitor said back then but you can still make enquiry. |

jflobaby: Good morning mamas in the house, im officially reporting to this thread. I has my DS on the 10th of January and i am yet to get a place to do his circumcision. I had him in a private hospital through my HMO and when i inquired about circumcision they said i should bring him back after naming. But that hospital is too expensive jare, we spent 72k for treating mild jaundice through phototherapy that i later discovered we could have easily done at home by allowing the early morning rays of sun get to him. Mum went to ikeja general hospital to make enquiries 8yesterday but they kept tossing her from immunisation unit to family planning to gynaecology, they all claimed they dont do it. Please i need contact of any nurse that can come do the ring own for us at home or if there is an hospital we can easily walk in to get it done. I stay at opic after ojodu berger.
Secondly, this baby friendly thing doesnt seem to be working for me. I had to give DS Nan on the 3rd date after delivery as he was not getting enough milk supply and kept crying. Up until now, he still doesnt get satisfied with breast milk alone making the vigilante business more difficult as he stays on the breasts for long and once i lay him down after he manages to sleep he wakes up within 5 - 10 mins crying for food and the whole cycle starts again but once he is fed Nan, he gets knocked out and sleep for long hrs if you like blow trumpet his sleep will not be distured.
I had to buy lactation cookies and one milky shake i saw online yesterday, i also tried getting the mixed millet, guinea corn pap but was not available at the supermarket i checked, (i have been taking yellow pap and milk before now). Hubby bought more tins of Nan yesterday and said all he cares about is for his son to be well fed . Please what else can i take to make this milk flowing. This dude needs to get high on breast milk not Nan. Lol
Sabi mamas biko i look forward to hear from you. Congratulations on your little one If you read up before your comment, some sabi mamas have mentioned roasted groundnut, yorgurt and boiled fresh Palm wine among others do the trick for breast milk supply and some pap ( Millets and guinea corn) vendors who are mamas among us post their products and numbers to reach them. |

My ds had milk several hours after birth cause I wasn't lactating well and this is to avoid jaundice which was explained by the midwife. |

He might be teething, when teething they tend to lose appetite of food. Ensure he is taking enough fluid and try give him good in bits and you can give boiled carrot to nibble on. "Teeth dey scratch the baby" |

Everyone is right depending on where they are coming from. Poster will select advice that best suits her. Poster will select advice that best suits him or her but if he decides to pick hers, do you know the poster will go tell his wife that it is not necessary and not see the importance which is what happened to me and i found it difficult doing other personal things for myself as a SAHM without help and nursing a child whereas the child can learn, I have my own time which will help me psychologically and mentally. That's why it is important to treat post, posted here with sensitivity. |

[quote author=myrygurl post=74436326]It depends actually. Children whose mum are busy or working class starts school very early. But when the mum is less busy or stay at home mum, then I really see no reason why a child below 3yrs will be put into school. When most babies below 3yrs hardly talk let alone communicate. And besides most pre nursery are just 8am-12pm just 4 hours unless you make arrangement for after school services. What are they even learning sef? Nothing mostly nursery rhymes. Waste of money i must say. Unless of course you are on the buoyant side then you have no issues.
He is not wasting money rather helping his child, a child learns different things like cognitive skills, potty training etc. Starting school early also helps the child to conquer his/her separation anxiety early and gives the mother more room for other things because the child becomes independent. Also creche starts 7 - 6 for 0-18months and 18 -24months starts 7 -4pm . You help the child to learn building blocks and all. Can't begin to list the benefits and no i don't own a creche but saw the necessity of it for children. So pls go ahead and enrol the child and thank me later |
