PoliticsRe: MKO Defeated TOFA (kano Indigene) In Kano(1993) No Threat Was Issued In Kano by phyllumtopilla: 6:39am On Jun 13, 2023
[quote author=leviaka post=123757656]@leviaka a social commentator
Being an IGBO MAN who grew up all his life in Lagos , surulere precisely and speaks the Yoruba language fluently and have so many Yoruba friends. And who loves and respect the Yoruba’s.
In the 70’s and 80’s as kids we all play together especially football , we visit each other homes, being conscious of our education we wrote WAEC and also JAMB some of us went to the university outside Lagos some of my Yoruba friends even schooled in UNN (but today some Yorubas are afraid to school in the east or do their NYSC there) me I schooled in a university in the south south region
I remember vividly what happened during the 1993 general election MKO ABIOLA a Yoruba man defeated TOFA a Kano indigene in Kano state, just as PETER OBI defeated TINUBU in Lagos state, yet the northerners did not threaten the Yoruba’s in Kano or any other indigene.
What people did not realize or understand especially the AGBERO politicians is that both Abiola and Obi won because of their charisma and popularity and because people want change and the best brains in the case of Abiola he has friends all over the country (a lesson to our agbero politicians who are ethnic champions) it was unfortunate that the northern military oligarchs annulled that election. They did it because they thought power belongs to them only, they learnt their lesson afterwards and thi’s paved the way for a Yoruba man SHONEKON to replace IBB and eventually for obasanjo a Yoruba man to be voted into power.
I remember then how the British government warned the northerners to give power to the Yoruba’s or face the consequences they OBIDIENTLY obliged ,they know if Nigeria disintegrates they will be the poorest region in the world.
If Nigeria disintegrates which I don’t pray for those regions that has no resources will suffer so much, and those who have might mismanage it and suffer also so let us not think about it, because it will come with a bloody price and those who think non indigenes will be chased out of Lagos because of some SATANIC laws are only having a pipe dream you don’t just chase away a people after investing so much in your land and you cannot force them to vote for someone of your choice because nobody had ever forced the Yoruba’s to vote against their choice in other regions, but if those agbero politicians and their followers decide to do otherwise the Yoruba’s will never recover from the consequences people will relocate so fast and Lagos economy will crumble so fast because (read about the capital flight in San Francisco USA which is becoming a failed city in Newsweek magazine drugs, murder etc are driving people Away)
So my advice to those AGBERO politicians that wants to cause problem to think twice don’t push non indigenes especially the IGBOS to the wall , your kinsman TINUBU is in power so rejoice while it last ,be happy and grateful to GOD, don’t push your luck too far Igbo are more concerned about their business than politics they have moved on with their lives so don’t tamper with their hard earned wealth , we Igbos will rather live in comfort than live in penury and be praising leaders that have nothing to offer because they are in POWER even if they are Igbo,
To those Yoruba who mainly are not indigenes of Lagos(Those who have taken over the state from the real aborigines) but are spearheading this should be prepared of what will befall Lagos, which are, poor revenue, crime(lots of it) , millions of Agbero roaming the street, strife, movement of non indigenes to there states, loss of oil well by Yoruba elites, loss of foreign investment ,suicide , ethnic awareness (IFE/MODAKKE, aworis, ijebus, illajes, etc will now notice there differences.
PLEASE let PEACE REIGN
LONG LIVE NIGERIA and also GOD bless all liberal minded people across the country , both Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, ijaw, tiv,

It is because the victory did not come with stupid statements like "we own Kano".... "Kano is no man's land"...and other such statements
EducationRe: The Dark Side Of Student Loans In Nigeria: Unraveling The Hidden Consequences by phyllumtopilla: 6:36am On Jun 13, 2023
Mrgud:
Student loans have long been seen as a means to empower students by providing financial support for their education. In Nigeria, the recent signing of the Student Loan Bill into law by President Bola Tinubu has sparked both hope and concern. While the intention behind the law is to enable Nigerian students to access interest-free loans and boost educational opportunities, it is crucial to examine the potential hidden consequences of this policy. This article delves into the dark side of student loans in Nigeria, uncovering the possible challenges and long-term implications faced by students and the nation as a whole.

At first glance, interest-free student loans appear to be a promising solution to the financial barriers that hinder educational pursuits. However, the reality may not live up to the expectations. While the government emphasizes easy access, the requirements for obtaining these loans may prove to be more burdensome than anticipated. Students must demonstrate evidence of being indigent, potentially excluding those who are on the brink of financial stability or facing temporary hardships. This limited eligibility criteria raises questions about the inclusivity and fairness of the loan program.

The Cycle of Debt and Repayment

While interest-free loans may sound appealing, the burden of repayment remains a significant concern. Students who fail to meet the repayment terms can face severe consequences, including imprisonment or hefty fines. The fear of punishment can create additional stress and pressure on students, impacting their overall well-being and academic performance. The lack of adequate job opportunities and the economic challenges in the country further exacerbate the difficulties faced by graduates when it comes to loan repayment. The cycle of debt can hinder their financial stability and limit their future prospects.

Unraveling the Quality of Education

Funding education is undoubtedly crucial, but it is equally important to ensure that the quality of education is not compromised in the process. As a significant portion of the Federation’s revenue will be used to finance the student loan initiative, concerns arise about the potential diversion of funds from other essential sectors, such as infrastructure development and teacher training. Neglecting these areas may lead to a decline in the overall quality of education, undermining the very purpose of providing financial support to students.

The Impact on Disadvantaged Students

While student loans aim to bridge the gap in educational opportunities, they may inadvertently widen the divide between the privileged and the disadvantaged. Indigent students often face additional barriers beyond financial constraints, including limited access to quality primary and secondary education. Without addressing these underlying issues, the provision of loans alone may not result in equitable educational outcomes. It is crucial to implement comprehensive policies that address the root causes of educational disparities to truly empower the most marginalized students.

Exploring Sustainable Alternatives

As we critically examine the potential drawbacks of student loans, it becomes imperative to explore alternative approaches to educational funding in Nigeria. Rather than relying solely on loans, a multi-faceted approach could involve increasing investment in public education, providing scholarships and grants based on merit and need, and enhancing vocational and technical training programs. By diversifying the options available to students, we can create a more inclusive and sustainable educational ecosystem.

Conclusion

While the Student Loan Bill in Nigeria aims to expand access to higher education and alleviate financial burdens for students, it is crucial to acknowledge the potential dark side of this policy. The hidden consequences, including limited access, the burden of debt, compromised quality of education, and exacerbation of inequality, should not be overlooked. To truly empower Nigerian students and create a thriving educational system, we must carefully navigate the complexities of educational funding, exploring sustainable alternatives that prioritize inclusivity and long-term success.

APC should be ashamed of itself. They are still riding on the ignorance and myopic mindset of Nigerians to fool people around. Honestly when I see what is happening, I come to the conclusion that we have a long way to go in this country. Our trash reasoning is why everything is thrown at us.

A CBN governor colluded with the ex president to redesign naira for no reason. Spent billions to waste money. A new president emerges from the same parry and started stupid show to foo.l his supporters by arresting the CBN governor that took order from the president. Wouldn't he have constituted panel of enquiry to publish the whole nasty deals to give us details of what transpired. How much was spent, how much looted and so on and so forth. He wouldn't because the enquiry will come out indicting Buhari himself.

His actions reminds me of early days of Buhari presidency of arresting Olisa Metu, Gausau and all that. Those days of vindictive arrests and prosecution that lead to no where. He is repeating the same nonesetical footsteps of Buhari and his sea of mo.ronic supporters are hailing his stupid behavior.

When will you arrest the NPC census scammer that spent billions without counting any sht? grin Everyone cannot be fuuls at the same time. That one no be crime abi? Na only Emefiele dey worry you? PoliticsRe: Why Is It Taking The CBN This Long To Unify The Exchange Rates? by phyllumtopilla: 7:25am On Jun 01, 2023
grandstar:
President Bola Tinubu promised to remove the petrol subsidy and unify the exchange rates.

The petrol subsidy has been removed already but why hasn't the CBN unified the exchange rates? The official rate is 462 while the parallel rate is 740. This disparity is causing roundtripping and distortions in the economy. It is also discouraging forex inflows into the economy as no right thinking company or individual would want to supply forex at the official rate when there's at least a 50% differential with the parallel rate. A unified rate should be between 650-680

Why is it taking so long? This can be done within 24hours. Why the foot dragging? Are the interest benefitting from the present status quo frustrating things? Or is the president clueless on what this really entails?

If it had been last week, one would have said PMB with his very dismal understanding was in the way. It seems Emefiele may need to answer some questions.

hotwax:
Tinubu/APC Supporters have been seen boasting about the victory. Some of them are even supporting the rigging publicly.

But Tinubu's moves contradict the flawless victory his Supporters are advertising.

Recently, Tinubu strategists have engaged a US based PR company to help pressure US government to congratulate Tinubu. There are indications in the white house that Biden administration does not want to associate itself with the election result.

In another development, Tinubu has sent many Politicians to beg Obi. They even proposed rewards which includes ministerial appointment for his selected candidates among other goodies.

Early this week, Gbadebo the Governorship candidate of Labour party was approached with 50billion by some APC Northern governors. This is also Tinubu's handwork.

APC has also raised up a human right group in USA to give a counter statement and a rebuttal to NADECO speech last week. This speech/event will take place next week.

APC have been busy lately. This victory is not as sweet as its being advertised. The victory is like swallowing hot metal.
You are doing well....keep it up
