Politics / Re: Days After Attending Jonathan’s Niece’s Wedding, Obasanjo Insist Gej Has Failed by picaso77: 1:28pm On Jan 13, 2015
okiezman:

A few days after he attended the wedding ceremony of President Goodluck Jonathan’s niece, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said he would not compromise on his criticism of the president, insisting that he (Jonathan) has failed in his performance.
Mr. Obasanjo showed up at the wedding ceremony of Mr. Jonathan’s niece in Abuja five days after he accused the president of squandering $35 billion crude oil savings left behind by his administration.
He also alleged that the president, who is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the February 14 election, had depleted the nation’s foreign reserves account from $60 left by late President Umaru Yar’Adua to $40 billion.
The former president told PREMIUM TIMES in an exclusive telephone interview on Monday that he would not stop criticising Mr. Jonathan despite attending the wedding because the issues had to do with the progress of Nigeria.
“There is no personal issue between me and him,” Mr. Obasanjo said. “He invited me to his daughter’s wedding, I had time and I attended. So, there is no issue of reconciliation or un-reconciliation. You people don’t understand. The wedding was a social event,” Mr. Obasanjo said.
“He (Jonathan) has failed in his performance and that I have made clear. No compromise about that. There is no compromise about anything that has to do with the progress of Nigeria. If I have an event I will invite him, if he has time he can attend.”
“You people don’t understand this matter. I have nothing against him. I am not fighting him but I won’t compromise on serious matters about Nigeria.”
While hosting South West women in his Abeokuta home on December 4, Mr. Obasanjo, who ruled the nation democratically between 1999 and 2007, launched a fresh attack against Mr. Jonathan alleging that the president squandered $35 billion Excess Crude money left by his administration.
He told the women that his administration left $25 billion to his successor, late President Umaru Yar’Adua, who subsequently raised the sum to $35 billion.
Mr. Obasanjo also said he left $40 billion in Nigeria’s foreign reserves account after paying the outstanding debt at the time and that Mr. Yar’Adua raised the reserves to $60 billion.
He lamented that the Jonathan administration depleted the reserves to $40 billion.
The former president however said he had no grudges against the president.
“I have no grudges against Jonathan and I think Jonathan has no grudges against me. I’m not quarrelling with Jonathan but all I know is that whatever is good for Nigeria, that I’m ready to die for.”
Before the visit of the southwest women, Mr. Obasanjo had repeatedly accused the president of promoting and tolerating corruption.
Speaking at a book launch in honour of the pioneer Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Mustapha Akanbi in November last year, Mr. Obasanjo, who nominated Mr. Jonathan as running mate to Mr. Yar’Adua in 2007, had rated the president’s performance as “below average”.
He also stated at that event that the nation’s economy “is in doldrums, if not in reverse”.
In his new book, “My Watch” which he released last month, the former president, lambasted the president, describing him as a self-centred politician who thinks less of the country and fraternise with corrupt and questionable characters.
The former president’s most scathing criticisms against Mr. Jonathan are contained in his famous 18-page letter to the president in December 2013 in which he criticised his style of administration. He also accused Mr. Jonathan of failure to deliver on his electoral promises, strengthen national unity and arrest corruption.
Mr. Obasanjo also accused the president of reneging on his promise of spending just a term in office and of training a killer squad ahead of this year’s general elections.

Politics / Re: This Is The Buhari Our Elders Failed To Tell Us About by picaso77: 12:36pm On Jan 08, 2015
Matthewbriggs:

Buhari reeks of double standards ... He took over from a state that was hopelessly corrupt put the President under house arrest and sent his deputy to krikiri .... His fight against corruption was fraught by nepotisim turning a blind eye to those in the military and people from his region while using those from the other region as scape goats.

He silenced the press, brutally dealt with people who do not share his views.

Get your facts right he reduced Inflation from 23% to 3.21% and within 20months and took it back up to 40.9% .

Stop lying... he did not birth anything ... the plan for the refineries have already been in place since . He merely signed the papers.

Do you in your heart think that Warri refinery was initiated, planned and built within one year (1977 to 1978)?

It is on record that GMB initiated nothing, he only signed contract as NNPC chairman as the decision to build the 2 refineries was initiated in 1974 when Buhari was nowhere in the government. Here is extracts from NNPC website:

“REFINERY PROJECT DECISION
The decision to construct the third Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) refinery in Kaduna was taken in 1974 along with that of the second NNPC refinery located at Warri. However, it was decided that work would commence on the construction of the third refinery whenever the projection of the consumption of petroleum products justifies it.
By early 1975, in view of the fuel shortages experienced then, the Federal Government decided that work on the third refinery should be advanced. It was envisaged that the refinery was to be a simple hydro skimming type refinery in order to meet up with the fuel demand then”
http://www.nnpcgroup.com/nnpcbusiness/subsidiaries/krpc.aspx

Conclusion
Buhari neither cleared Nigeria’s debt nor initiated any refinery in Nigeria.

General Buhari, you were in power for 20 months, how many universities did you build ? GEJ built 9 in his first 20 months!

General Buhari, you were in power for 20 months, how many trains did you put on our railway?GEJ put several in his 1st 20 months

General Buhari, you were in power for 20 months, how many power stations did you complete? GEJ completed 2 in his first 20 months!

General Buhari, you were in power for 20 months, how many newspapers did you close down? GEJ has not closed down one in 5 years!

Gen Buhari, you were in power for 20 months, how many youths did you give scholarship? GEJ gave over a 100 in his first 20 months

General Buhari, you were in power for 20 months, which youth did you appoint in your govt? GEJ appointed a 33 year old minister

General Buhari, you were in power for 20 months, how many women made your cabinet? GEJ appointed 10 women in his first 20 months

In 20th months of GEJ ruler-ship he achieved way more that Buhari can even dream of.

When Buhari took over in 1983, the Naira was exchanging for N 0.724 to a dollar, by the time he left office, the Naira was exchanging at between N1.5 to 1.7 in the parallel market. We will make use of the N1.5 exchange rate.
From 1983 to 1985, the Naira moved from 0.724 to 1.5 representing a 107% depreciation of the Naira!

The question therefore, with 107% depreciation of naira from 1983 to 1985, how stable was the naira under Buhari?

The fall of the naira is as a result of the accumulative impact of bad governance and the fact that we depend heavily on oil. GEJ has started fixing that Now.

Do you know that Nigeria now make cars, Our agricultural sector is receiving heavy boost, our technology sector is growing. Their is more hope for the future. Soon Nigerians would simile. Our economy is on a journey towards diversification under GEJ

How can a man who prides himself as been a pauper for the past 30 years change this nation's economic state ... He is even proud to let us know that the least he has in his account is a million naira.

A former president for that matter. What does that say about his economic sense
This same man in the past 30 years has never contributed in any way to the progress of this nation either in ideas or in enterprise. How can man who in the last 30 years has not been able to change his own condition and grow economically ... change Nigeria a nation of over 200million people from poverty to riches.

[/b] He has no track record of causing economic change in his life, in a company or the last time he ruled and you expect me to believe he would change Nigeria.

Buhari says he will fight corruption if he gets power. General, in your party, look to your left and your right. What do you see?

Buhari according to him Abacha is not corrupt. Do you know what this means.

A man that who can not differentiate or tell when someone is corrupt is the same person, who thinks he would be able to fight corruption.

Under buhari you would have the illusion of the fight against corruption, Buhari would give Nigerians the drama they want using political enemies as scape goats, while under your nose dangerous deals will be made and high level corruption will still take place undercover. Why do I say this the same set of people who took Nigeria to where it is today are the same people behind his election bid.

The fact that he is very clueless to even comprehend or detect corruption will make matters worse. APC with her powerful propagada mechinarey will make it a point of duty to hide corruption activity. Have you asked your self why APC states are yet to accept the Freedom of information bill.

Like I asked earlier ... who would you vote for?
A man who they say he is corrupt with no solid proof to a man who tells you he is a saint while his friends are crooks.
You are just too blind to see the truth .................i pity you cry

humilitypays:
When I see Nigerians giving APC mass support in the hope that they have come to rescue Nigeria from corruption, I laugh.

General Buhari you knew in 1983 is not the same Buhari you know in 2014.

1. Buhari was a military head of state in 1983 and had absolute power to dictate things and fight corruption as he wants with the help of Idiagbon his ADC.

Now, Buhari is coming as a democatically elected president (if at all he wins), which means before he can act or fight or prosecute any corrupt politician (past and present), he must get senate and reps approval and then they must pass through judiciary to finalise the prosecution, and of course this take ages to end...which means, no hope for immediate fight against corruption as all Nigerians anticipate if Buhari wins.

2. 80% of past thieves and corrupt politicians in Nigeria have all decamped to APC just because Goodluck is not dancing to their evil beats...and now they have all become saints.

OBJ, Tinubu, Atiku, Rochas, Amaechi, just name them are now APC chieftains and supporters just to ensure Goodluck fails, and now how do u Nigerians expect Buhari to act if he wins when he is being surrounded corrupt politicians now wearing a new party uniform- APC

3. If Buhari wins next year, he will act based on his party road map...and of course APC is a gathering of thieves just like PDP, so what's the difference and the noise of change all about

OBJ the most corrupt man in Nigeria is now acting like a saint and Nigerians are listening to him instead of stoning him to death, sighs

Nigerians take it or leave it, all these Goodluck must go cry and campaign is a tribalistic/religious war!

Buhari will fail Nigerians more than Goodluck failed Nigerians if he wins, but where it hurts me is that Nigerians won't cry and condemn him as much as they condemned Goodluck now just because Buhari is from a majority tribe and a religious background that believe in mob system and backup their religious brethren no matter how bad he/she is.

Meanwhile, if Buhari wins come 2015, he will not do anything to end Boko Haram, rather Boko Haram will happily drop their arms because their own person has finally climbed the thrown, and then, MEND will rise up again!

There's trouble ahead, Nigerians be careful and pray.

We Nigerians would have just be calm and allowed Goodluck to do his best and let all see that he failed on his own and then next year all Nigerians vote their choice again...but not the radical, tribalistic and religious way we are doing it, we want to cause more trouble for Nigeria.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Senior Partner in the Law firm of Simmons Cooper Partners.

Pets / Re: 9 Unique Dog Breeds U May Never Come Across by picaso77: 1:05pm On Nov 26, 2014
adamskutty:
You will see many dog breeds in your life, but there are some unique breeds you may never see. While some of these breeds have similar traits to dogs we are familiar with, others look more exotic. Regardless of their sizes and shapes, these unique dog breeds are so cute. Enjoy reading about and looking at these pups and don’t hide your smile!

1. Swedish Valhund

In 1942, the Swedish Vallhund almost became extinct in Sweden, but a breeding program started to save them. These dogs can capture small predators like rodents, herd cattle, and guard the house. Due to their perfect temper and love of their owners they are capable of being good pets. They are extremely energetic and they need lots of exercise.

2. Bedlington Terrier

The first time I saw this dog breed, I thought it was a lamb, but it wasn’t! Bedlington Terrier puppies have dark coats that fade with age. This unique dog breed is good with kids and is easy to take care of. As long as Bedlington Terrier has his fur trimmed and gets enough exercise, he will keep his tail wagging. If you are thinking of having one, be ready for a stubborn attitude and loud barking.

3. Tibetan Mastiff

Don’t think that this dog is a mastiff. The word ‘mastiff’ means ‘large dog,’ that’s why it is included in its name. Tibetan Mastiff is known as guardian and has been used to protect places, people, and herds. Since these dogs are very protective, they are not happy when their owners invite guests into their house. Again, these dogs require some training.

4. Catalburun

Oh God! I’ve never seen anything so cute, and you? Look, this dog has a split nose! While it looks unique, it also works excellent and gives the Catalburun a very strong sense of smell. That’s why they’re great hunters and they’re able to track well. This unique dog breed is mostly seen in Turkey and is not known in other countries.

5. Mudi

This pup is really cute! This is a herding breed that comes from Hungary. Mudi is very energetic. They are expected to live from 13 to 14 years and weigh 18 and 29 pounds. Mudi comes in a variety of different colors, which are all equally adorable!

6. Catalhoura Cur

This dog can be very noisy and might chew up your furniture, especially if they don’t get enough attention from you. Catahoula Cur was originally used for herding and once lived in swamps to round up cattle and pigs. This dog needs a truly dominant owner that can teach it the difference between wrong and right.

7. Schipperke

These dogs are from Belgium, and they are expected to live from 13 to 15 years.what do u mean or what happens to them after these yeas Although they are so adorable, they are known to cause some troubles. Sometimes called ‘the little black devil, these doggies like to disobey their owners and chase other animals. They can be very aggressive and must be kept away from other animals. They are not good for the weak-willed and they require a lot of training.

8. Azawakh

The Azawakh is a sight hound dog breed that is rare outside of its native West Africa. Azawakh is found in a great variety of colors such as grizzle, red, blue fawn, and, rarely, black and blue. Renowned for its agile and cat-like gait, these dogs are timid by nature, but friendly and very affectionate. The breed is used to hunt gazelle and other fleet animals.

9. Thai Ridgeback

An ancient dog breed, the Thai Ridgeback is also renowned as Mah Thai Lang Ahn. I love this breed and I think it’s the most unique and beautiful dog breed. The Thai Ridgeback has a line of hair running along the back in the opposite direction to the rest of the coat. These beautiful, strong-willed and powerful dogs are usually used as livestock guardians. Thai Ridgeback is a very intelligent breed. This dog is best kept by a consistent owner who has a good understanding of dog behavior.

ratiken:

With the recent holier than thou attitude being put forward by Gov Fashola, It has become pertinent that we remind ourselves what manner of man he has been in the past 7.5 years.

1. It is on record that Tinubu is one of the most corrupt individual this country ever produced who went on an accumulation spree of every viable state asset. However, I wonder how a 'non corrupt' Fashola can seamlessly work with an extremely corrupt Tinubu for 8yrs without friction while they both accumulate all state assets to their personal names. Two cannot work together except they agree. It seems Tinubu accumulated more state resources under Fashola's tenure than his own tenure. One can categorically conclude that Fashola is either more corrupt than Tinubu or just a plain dummy/ foot soilder

2. There is still no justification to installing toll plazas on existing roads. The Lekki- Epe expressway that serves the fastest developing area of lagos state should have received fair and untolled attention but out of the dirtiness of heart of the corrupt duo of Fashola/ Tinubu.... it was tolled to their own company. When the masses trooped out to protest against it, Fashola's touts were unleashed on them even to the extent of death of a protester. If every state governor tolls roads which is a basic necessity like Fashola did..... ours would have been a mortgaged country

3. Till date, Fashola have refused to open up the state books to the public consistent with the Freedom of information bill adopted at the federal level. He has consistently and categorically refused to be accountable. For the records, LASG with monthly IGR and allocation of 29B and 19B respectively have managed approximately 4.5trillion in 7.5yrs. Unaccountability is the hallmark of irresponsible leadership.

4. How on earth can a sane governor deport non-indigenes within same country at the wee hours of the morning and dump them under a bridge. Every Nigerian indigene has the right to live in an part of the geographical location called Nigeria without a visa. It is also on record that this inhumane act have been carried out by just on governor in our history. .. which is Fashola. This act currently ranks as the highest breach of human rights in Nigeria.

5. Fashola adamantly approved a 1000% increase in the school fees rates for LASU students without any corresponding increase in wage rates. It took wide spread protest and unending strikes that forced the govt to its knee. This is the record increase of school fees in Nigeria and ranks the height of insensitivity

6. Lagos roads are repaired at 2billion/ km by the crony companies of Fashola/ Tinubu. Better roads are built allover the country at lesser rates. Height of lootocracy

The ease at which he criticizes the central govt without acknowledging any single achievement by same govt makes him a mere opposition figure who stands for nothing but mere propaganda.

Now I ask..... What are the highlights of Fashola's govt?
Lagos was a federal capital and Tinubu's govt was the height of hopelessness and such any any road repaired receives lots of hype. What key achievement would Fashola be remembered for?
i think the week end hang-over is still dealing with you seriously

Why don't you go and bring out such a candidate or is the job of anyone or your father to go and find such a candidate in the 19 northern states of Nigeria? If such a person prefers to do his business or job and not buy a form to aspire to leadership, is it the job of APC or your father to go and wake him up from his sleep and present him a candidacy form on a platter?

For years such people where they exist have been cross-carpeting from party to party, for a morsel of akara, dining with any party or individual who can promise them a piece of the national cake, then you forgot about today: the day of reckoning and accountability for public trust. If such a person cannot show Nigerians they can command a huge following not based on buying human beings as TANOids like the retardodaft president GEJ, then let them first go and build public trust and reputation for not being corrupt looters like Buhari and even if they have a religion from Mars, Nigerians will be disposed to give them a serious consideration.
