That last bit is really bad. I think it's worse in Nigeria than in some parts of the world. My friend dated an albino once and she kept talking about how he was actually cool and fresh and handsome blah blah blah not like the rest of them. I was like ahn ahn, no be human being e be? It's sad, really.

Why is albinism much more common in black people than any other race?

They always kinda make me sad sha, in Africa they are treated often as almost disabled people and getting married is complicated for them.

WHO Studies Findings report a higher prevalence of albinos in urban parts of Africa, possibly due to various factors like higher population density and rural-urban migration in search of education, health care and indoor occupations.

The WHO reports also indicate a greater number of individuals with albinism in the younger age groups (below 30 years). In the Eastern Central state of Nigeria , 89% of identified people with albinism were in the age of 0 – 30 years while another study reported that 77% were under the age of 20 in the same Nigerian state.Also in Cameroon , Nigeria and Tanzania , observations indicate a low number of people with albinism in age groups above 30. This statistics points to an increased mortality of people with albinism.

In Nigeria , one study collected written accounts of people with albinism. These individuals stated that they tended to be more withdrawn from social situations to avoid being noticed, they were more emotionally unstable and had less assertive personalities than people without albinism. Also, they considered our society to be generally unkind and rejecting, even though they did have close friends, maybe this is why some may experience difficulties in getting married.

Maybe she's a widow, she they form "I will stay alone until i die", please someone should tell mamma to remarry before she rapes someone's child, what a disgrace!

The second is from a "forums page" of albino-nigerians angered and protesting against the community and the government for certain set-asides, they want their voices to be hear, just like every other group of people in nigeria with a condition or disability, we have the same issues with albinism in Nigeria as they do in Europe and the Americas. Nothing crazy, nothing savagery like in Southern African countries.

You need to be more empathetic to their plight, if you were an albino or had an albino sibling, relative, friend or child you won't be saying this.

You are not being fair on Seun, please take it easy the man only asked for our opinion he could have done whatever he wanted to do without letting you know. Have you ever been scammed before? i guess not, if you have your perspective will change. NL is someone's business, yes it's a community, but he owes it to us to create a safe forum. Yes we want to help people, but how do you genuinely verify cases? I personally saw a post where someone was asking for help, i was interested, but after checking i discovered the person was not genuine(health forum). Maybe if Seun and the mods can find a way of verifying cases it will be good, but that means giving them more work.
