No, I'm not a doctor. However, I have some knowledge in biology and genetics. And no, all albinos are not White, but all Whites have a set of mutations which are associated with certain types of Albinism in other races, therefore one could say that all Whites are Albinos, kind of. In fact, the Whites' ancestors most probably developed fair skin this way: some of them happened to be Albinos, with white skin, hair and eyes, but with good vision. These Albinos thrived under the dim Northern sun, and were actually more healthy than others due to increased production of vitamin D. Moreover, they were viewed as more attractive. So their genes prevailed and expanded their presence to the point where all current Whites are now descendants of that group of ancient Albinos, with the same traits.

So I have an undergraduate degree (Nigeria) and a masters degree (UK), both in Petroleum Engineering and have worked as a Lecturer in a federal university before securing a job in an indigenous oil and gas coy as a Reservoir Engineer in Lagos.

Unfortunately, mid this year, management decided they couldn't afford to pay us anymore and asked some of us to resign.

Like a dream, I became a job Hunter on the streets of Lagos. I have been to all companies imaginable and have attended a couple of interviews. I have further kept on developing my skill set so as to be better prepared when an opportunity avails itself.

But then again, it has not been easy. Especially living on the island without a string of income. I need to be gainfully employed and I'm willing to learn and work in any organization as the case may be or volunteer infact.

Nairalanders, I need your candid opinion on this matter and a steer to the right direction. All opinions are welcomed.

P.s: I have got fantastic credentials. Graduated as the Best Student in my set too.

Keep applying for jobs, don't give up. You may want to start looking at private universities and sending your applications to them.

@celibate, I am not insulting or dissing you, I want you to understand that most people have had challenges of some sort in life, it's quite normal. Your brother asked you a good question, but because of your overly sensitive personality, you took it the wrong way "What if you didn't have a brother?" This question was asked to make you think more independently, show them that you can stand on your own and succeed.

The same family that wants you to be independent were encouraging you to quit your job because they can take care of your needs? They are doing this because you allowed it, you should have insisted on working and given reasons to support your decision until the time was appropriate for you to leave the job. It's your life and your decisions to make, just be more assertive, less sensitive and you will succeed

Like others have said, as an adult no one owes you anything in this life, you need to realize this first. Secondly, everyone cannot succeed as an entrepreneur, some do better working for others, have you thought about getting a job? People have different personalities that help them succeed in certain occupation you will do much better working for someone than working for yourself.

I really don't blame anyone but the parents and our culture. From day one, these people prepare and mount pressure on young girls, allegedly preparing for marriage.

It is an axiomatic fact that only the female folk bear the illustrious title Chief (Mrs), Dr. (Mrs), Engineer(Mrs) and even Magistrate(Mrs). Mrs. Somebody(unfortunately, who? matters less). Have you ever seen Dr.(Mr) and stuffs like that.

Sit close to a lady for 10 minutes, check well, 9 minutes must have been spent discussing marriage related issues.

Tell me why they won't be gullible to the ever ambitious Naija guys who use these ladies as pawn.
