Ebony "Wondagurl" Oshunrinde, a highschool student, has a beat on Jay-Z's latest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail. The teenager from Ontario, Canada produced the beat for "Crown" on the album, an instrumental that was originally meant for Pusha T. In an interview reported by The Sun, Wondagurl explained how the beat landed on the album. She crafted the beat and sent it to a friend, who just happened to be Travi$ Scott. Scott had been working with Jay-Z and Kanye West. “Travi$ texted me and said, ‘I’m about to change your life.' Usually, that doesn’t happen to 16-year-olds," she explained soon after completing eleventh grade. "A lot more people want to work with me now. It’s pretty cool.” In an interview with MTV, she added more about how the track came together. “I was at home one day and I was looking for reggae samples for a while and I finally found this one that was like crazy, it was Sizzla's ‘Solid as a Rock,’” she shared. “I took it and I cut it up and I put it in the software FL Studio and I started building around it, just adding 808s and the more I built, I knew what I wanted.” According to Wondagurl, the beat was made with Pusha T in mind after hearing "Blocka" but she's pleased with the outcome. More from her interview with http://m.mtv.com/news/article.rbml?id=1710075&weburl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mtv.com%2Fnews%2Farticles%2F1710075%2Fjay-z-magna-carta-holy-grail-wondagurl.jhtml&alt=http%3A%2F%2Fm.mtv.com%2Fnews%2Findex.rbml&cid=300 can be seen below. Now, Wondagurl says she has hopes of working with Kanye West, Drake and Timbaland. She also added that she would like to make a "comeback" track for Keri Hilson, who she is a fan of. Canadian teen Ebony Oshunrinde, who aptly goes by the moniker WondaGirl www.twitter.com/wondagurlbeats in the studio, has just finished the 11th grade. She’s also just been credited as a producer on “Crown,” a track on Jay-Z’s new album “Magna Carta Holy Grail.” Her story is insanely inspiring and impressive: after watching a video of Jay-Z and Timbaland working in the studio together at age 9, she began to download music software and teach herself how to use it by watching YouTube tutorials. “I wanted to do the exact same thing that [Jay-Z] did,” she recently told the Star. When she was 14, she made it to the quarter-finals of Toronto’s Battle of the Beatmakers. (FOURTEEN. I didn’t even know how to make a grilled cheese when I was 14.) She won the title the following year, because she is incredible, and went on to sign an exclusive management deal with Black Box. According to Ian Stanger, a representative with Black Box, “It’s amazing to see somebody with that much talent working as hard as she can to make the most of it at such a young age. It’s her work that people should be paying attention to, not the fact that’s she 16.” And her work is exactly what people have started to pay attention to. Earlier this year, Oshunrinde sent the beat to her friend Travis Scott, a young rapper and producer. He happened to be in the studio with Jay-Z when he received it — and when he told her that the cut had made it to the album, she thought he was joking. “Usually that kind of thing doesn’t happen to 16-year-olds,” she explains. No, Ebony, it usually does not. Feel free to check or Follow her on twitter @wondagurlbeats Source: www.global14.com

Wonderful architectural piece. Great signs of infrastructural development in Lagos. #Eko oni Baje oo. Any idea about this hotel recruiting, my GF works in the food/hospitality industry, I wouldn't mind if she can work there. Any links... However, just wondering who are they owners of Eko Hotel. I thought it was the Chagouri's but a colleague said its Odua Group. |
Hi Guys, What's ur take on the new MTN advert about network migration/portability. How did they get to feature Kaka who used to be a major face for etisalat. What are they guys in Etisalat marketing dept. do wrong...someone/people can get fired for this. I see this as a major co-operate blunder. What's d way forward for etisalat marketing campaign regarding this. I suggested to my colleagues that etisalat better go hire somebody like Basket mouth..but they said he's already sold out to Glo. Please...I think Etisalat is running out of ideas, they need a strong and bitter visual campaign that will take what MTN has right now. |

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two undergraduate Internet scammers and six other members of their syndicate at the highbrow 1004 Housing Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos . One of the undergraduate, Hope Olusegun, a 25 year-old indigene of Okene, Kogi State , claimed to be a student of Computer Science at the Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University, Malays A petition by a concerned group had led to the arrest of Mr. Olusegun and other members of his gang at the 1004 Housing Estate, Ikeja Lagos where they had succeeded in defrauding innocent Nigerians. After the residence of Mr. Olusegun was searched by EFCC operatives, they recovered several items such as laptops, iPad phones, travelling documents, cheque books, flash drives, internet modem, and three exotic cars - a Mercedes Benz Jeep, One 4Matic Mercedes Benz Car and a Range Rover Sport SUV. On interrogation, Mr. Olusegun had said the cars belonged to his sister who he claimed lives in the United Kingdom. EFCC operatives also downloaded over 80 implicating documents from the laptops recovered from Olusegun. “I didn’t stay on the Mainland in Lagos because of stress of friends when you just get back from abroad.” However, the Commission is making effort to track down other members of Olusegun's syndicate who are currently at large. In a related development, another undergraduate Mr. Tunde Wasiu Sodiq, and member of another syndicate with close affinity to Olusegun’s gang were also nabbed by operatives of the EFCC at the Housing Estate. Equally, arrested by men of the anti graft agency at the Housing Estate were: Messrs. Badmus Akeem O, Ajijola Oluwatosin Emmanuel, Adebesin Olalekan, Raji Resaq O, Ajibola Adeniyi and Adeboye Lamidi. According to Mr. Badmus Akeem, “I decided to move to Malaysia to further my education while I do “Hot jobs” as well. I just got back a week ago before the festive period and also produce music and manage artistes.” In his statement to EFCC, leader of one of the syndicate, Mr. Sodiq stated that he chose to live at the expensive 1004 estate where he and his friends pay N30, 000 daily, in order to avoid the pressure from friends and relations. “I didn’t stay on the Mainland in Lagos because of stress of friends when you just get back from abroad.” Mr. Sodiq said that the Range Rover Sport car recovered from them belonged to his mother despite the fact that the car beared his alias, “T.Wizzle”. He stated in his statement that the mother decided to customise the car plate number after the name of his first son. All members of the two syndicates would soon be arraigned in court. |
Point of correction, moderator, that is not his house its his new home. Banana Island is divided into 2 sections 1st and 2nd avenue. The former is commercial and residential while the latter is strictly residential and that is where Adenuga's palace is, its d largest private residential property in Ikoyi. The estate is now fenced up with concrete wondering why he did that cause the fence used to be steel rodes that you can see through the palace. Also his backyard is partly the lagoon. Julius Berger has their office and logo in it, letting you know that its a multi billion naira project. The house is built in Italian style, just like Don Corleone. Not sure if he's moved in yet. Nevertheless, Congratulations Otunba. May God continue to bless you. And for you haters, go kill urselves..... |
