Former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose has reacted to the killing of Nigerian soldiers in Metele, Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists on Sunday.

Fayose who is on trial for N2.2b fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) called on Nigerians to reject President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 for waiting four days before expressing shock over the brutal killing of Nigerian soldiers.

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has apologized for joining the groups, who came together to form the All Progressives Congress.

He said the apology had become necessary because of the sufferings Nigerians had been subjected to in the last three and half years from a party he played a role in bringing to power.

Atiku, who spoke on Thursday in Yola, Adamawa State, during a c with residents of Jimeta, described the APC as an assembly of ‘elements’ that came together to defraud the country.

He said the party had flopped in changing the fortunes of Nigerians for good.

He stated, "I lamented being part of the party which never deemed it fit to fulfil all of the promises it made to Nigerians.

“If I had known that the APC would be such a colossal failure and disgrace, I would never had joined the party.

“The APC has failed to fulfill even one of the promises it made to Nigerians. The APC is simply an assembly meant to defraud Nigerians.”

Speaking further, the former Vice-President said that the country would not survive another four years if the APC was returned to power in 2019.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has approached President Muhammadu Buhari to institute an inquiry into the death of the prime suspect in the April 5 Offa robbery attacks, Michael Adikwu, because it has several implications for the country’s legal system.

Saraki, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yusuph Olaniyonu, also noted that the development could affect the nation’s engagement with the international community

He said the international community had consistently cited the issues of human rights abuse and extrajudicial killings by security forces as major reasons for their reluctance to sell arms to Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram.

The Senate President stated,“One of the key issues those of us who have been engaging with the international community on the need for them to support Nigeria in the fight against terrorism in the North-East through supply of arms, provision of training and other technical aid has been confronting is that of the flagrant abuse of human rights and extrajudicial killings by our security agencies.

“This is an instance of what these international partners complain about. The Presidency should make a point that the present government does not tolerate human rights abuse, extrajudicial killings, politically-motivated criminal investigation and refusal to comply with global best practices by security agencies by instituting an inquiry into the case of the death of this suspect.”

The Senate President called for diligent prosecution of the case so that justice could be done to the innocent victims of the Offa robbery, the suspects facing trial and the state whose peace was disturbed by the sad incident.

An Ecobank customer, Saheed Abayomi, 46, has been arraigned Lagos Magistrate Court for alleged conniving with the fleeing former female Branch Manager of the Apapa branch of the bank, identified simply as Theresa, to fraudulently withdraw the sum of N482 million from the account of the bank and allegedly shared it.

Police alleged that the female manager allegedly perpetrated the fraud with the accused by issuing fake certificates to customers of the bank who deposited huge sum of money in their fixed deposit accounts to assure them that their savings was safe and using the account of the accused to transfer customer‘s funds from their accounts to her own.

Police alleged that the fraud was uncovered by the management of the bank audited the account books of the Apapa branch of the bank and reported the incident to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Ikoyi Prison, Ikoyi, Lagos, Tijani Mustaphe N’Abba, who directed his man to fish out the suspects involved in the alleged fraud.

The source asserted that Abayomi was followed and captured at his residence at Baale Street, Boundary, Ajegunle, Lagos and that when the police visited the living arrangement of Theresa at Okota territory of Isolo, Lagos to capture her, they discovered that she had hurriedly packed out to unknown place.

During investigation, according to a police source, Abayomi allegedly told the police that he opened an account with the Apapa branch of Ecobank through the female manager, but that he was shocked that the manager suddenly changed his name in the account with another person’s name.

Solomon told the court that the accused connived with the fleeing former female branch manager of the Apapa branch of the bank to fraudulently steal the sum of N482 from the account of the bank.

He said that the offences committed were punishable under Sections 411, 323 and 285 of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence and Magistrate A. M Davies granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Davies adjourned the case till 7 January, 2019 for mentioned and ordered that the defendant be kept at Ikoyi Prison Lagos till he perfected the bail conditions.

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 40by40 containers loaded with Tramadol and other dangerous drugs from India worth N7,318,978,065.00.

Disclosing this to journalists on Thursday in Lagos, the Comptroller General of Customs, Col Hameed Ali (rtd) revealed that three suspect, including Customs officers who cleared the containers have been arrested for further investigation.

Ali likewise unveiled that NCS officers similarly caught a helicopter and a flying machine from the United States of America over failure to provide end-user certificate and other documents.

Four relatives of a nine-year-old kid who was apparently beaten to death in eastern France were captured on Wednesday over doubts he was killed for refusing to do his homework, investigators said.

The kid's mom, 20-year-old sister, 19-year-old sibling, and the sibling's sweetheart were arrested over his demise at his home in the city of Mulhouse on September 17.

His mom was not at home at the time but rather was arrested for questioning.

The circumstances of his death are still unclear but prosecutors believe he was badly beaten for refusing to do his homework.

An autopsy showed the beating as the probable cause of death.

The boy’s sister, brother and the brother’s girlfriend called emergency services, but paramedics were unable to revive him.

A man, Obi Nwoda, died in an Awka, Anambra State hotel while having sex with his female lover.

The man, identified as Mr Obi Nwoda, checked into the inn with a woman on Saturday.

According to the management of the hotel, the woman was leaving the hotel alone and when she was forced to go back to the room where the man, Obi Nwuda, was seen lying unconscious.


The occurrence was accounted for at B Division Police Station where the DPO, Mr Odion Ekeinde a Patrol Team to move the unconscious man to a private hospital

Obi was announced dead on arrival at the hospital and his corpse photographed and deposited in the morgue.

Confirming the incident, Mr Mohammed Haruna, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, said the lady was arrested and that she had confessed that the deceased died while having sex with her
Haruna described the death as sudden and unnatural, adding that it occurred at 8.15 p.m. on Saturday.
“Victim was rushed to Apex Hospital, Awka, where he was confirmed dead on arrival by the medical doctor.

“The corpse was photographed and deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

“The woman alleged that the victim collapsed while making love to her.



“She was subsequently arrested and the case is under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident,” he said.
