If you want to commit suicide without you being burry by your family, then go to Abuja with the intention of committing mayhem.
If these terrorist people that call themselves protestors destroy Abuja, FG will use oil money to rebuild it
All my prayer now is that FG should remember my architectural company when rebuilding Abuja.
Once again, I stand on my belief that Tinubu has really tried in his administrations as he has taken many bold steps that make me believe that he has the intention of ruling Nigeria in a good way. It's unfortunate! People like you are part of the problems. You are pinching people and said they shouldn't react. What bold steps. The essence of any reform is to impact positively on the common man. Cost of living is too high and you're saying people shouldn't protest. If you don't want people to protest, reduce oil price and curtail the volatile exchange rate as soon as possible, and above all fight the corruption. The most important bold step Tinubu can take is to address the systemic rot and our failed institutions which promote large scale and widespread corruption. Until that's taken, Nigeria is a gonna!!! |

rezy15: While I share in your frustration about the state of the nation let's get one thing straight. It's not just about salaries o. How are you expected to do your job with zero support as regards labs, office space, lecture rooms? For your info we use waste paper to send memos and result vetting for senate for goodness sake! We practically use our own money to print official documents. You say they earn more than civil servants. How much is a professors salary? This is after sinking millions over 20 years on average getting this knowledge with little or no sponsorship o. Practically all the buildings are TETFUND sponsored. That's thanks to ASUU. They have raised school fees, my final year students can't even perform in a lab cos no reagents or test tubes. The problems are endless, the system is dying and the quality of graduates is worsening. I can guarantee you the turnover rate of qualified lecturers and researchers in universities is growing. We lost a lot of colleagues to brain drain last year and it's poised to get worse. FG doesn't consider education a priority like pilgrimage and the lecturers are losing their passion. You say ASUU should fight? The same students we fight for for better service delivery will call all lecturers pedophiles, rapists and handout salesmen. Na the same students you say mk we bleed for? The last 8 months strike, dem pay complete? If there's anything to get straight in Nigeria, is not University /secondary/primary school education. Not even the health sector as indispensable as the health sector. It's restructuring the country. The current system is not working. We need to first get the system right, other things will fall in line. I have been in the university system before and I must confess the lecturers are not better than the politicians. As a young lecturer in the system, many senior professors would query me why their children legitimately failed my courses, and why I didn't do anything about it. This was a first generational University in SW. The tetfund you spoke about has been grossly abused by the so called University lecturers. I know several colleagues that won tetfund scholarships that never returned back to Nigeria. To even get the tetfund scholarships in my university then, you must be attending the same church with the professors in charge or be a member of carcus. Unfortunately many of these guys criticize politicians. Forget, Nigeria is a gonna. Sooner we redirect our fight to total restructuring of the country the better for future generation. |

Multiple attempts by ASUU to get federal government to make good on signed agreements and they are still called names. If government is sincere these demands by ASUU will be met by sundown. I doubt earned allowance owed is even up to half of 90bn but they rather spend on Hajj with zero returns on investment Forget all that, Nigeria is a sick nation, and University is just one out of many parts of the sick nation. University workers still earn better salaries than many government workers except politicians. ASUU should fight for Nigeria and not the one part, the current arrangement in the country cannot foster meaningful development. If they increase your salary and you get new cars or build new house, you're not safe because the whole country is sick. They should dismantle this unholy union called Nigeria and every region should go her separate ways or better still they should thoroughly restructure the country. This I believe what ASUU as intellectual body who knows better should be fighting for and not window dressing approach. If ASUU president becomes the President of Nigeria today, he cannot sign that yeye agreement you're talking about because the problems at the center are too much and with several conflicting interests and corruption everywhere including the so called university. |

I look back at 2020 with not so fond memories and I just act indifferently to the thought of dying and dealing with the loss of loved ones.
May 2020, my woman died courtesy of raged truck driver and the high flying Okada rider, didn't set my eyes on her remains till date.
August 2020, the last born of the family, my favorite sibling gave up the ghost when she was admitted to the hospital, in the doctor's word, 'the malaria must have eaten deep into her' She was a sweet soul and quite matured for her age but death don't share in my pity.
October 2020, death waved grand ma in and it was devastating because I couldn't bring myself down to Badagry to pay my last respect. Keep resting ma.
November 2022, can't forget big daddy death, he called me few days before my birthday telling me how he was so proud of the boy, little did I know that dead men sorry ghost actually tell tales and damn, his light forcefully switched off.
In between those events, I've learnt to let go of my sentiments about dying, I believed in the powers of praying but when it comes to death, I don't waste my time any longer, we can only try but the bell will toll for whoever is next, be less emotional when any news of loss is being shared and lastly, I've used the words 'It Is Well With My Soul' as a coping mechanism.

Now, let's be honest, I think there should be some subsidy for say the poorest of the poor. But what makes subsidy impossible in Nigeria is simple....we don;t have enough money for it. Yes our politicans loot, but we spent 10 trillion naira on subsidy in 2022, and 14 trillion in 2023. I doubt that any politican has looted that amount at all.
Either we do as sane nations do and raise our tax to gdp and get the money that way, or we sell more cocoa, cotton and solid minerals to raise monies for things like fuel subsidy. Either that, or we forget about subsidy. . All those cost of subsidy you quoted were overly inflated due to corruption and oil thefty. The issues any serious government would face is to completely eradicate the corruption and oil thefty, this will give actual cost of subsidy. If corruption, rent-seeking, institutional weakness and dollarization of Nigerian are not purposefully and transparently dealt with, Nigeria is inevitably destined to be doomed. As a patriotic Nigerian, I just wished something drastic can happen to rescue this country In Jesus name!!! |

With your fears, I would suggest you look elsewhere not because anything is wrong with the lady. Just because of your fear. People had married at 22 and had to wait for the next 20 years before conception. And funny enough, people had married at 50 and conceive immediately.
In order to prevent future crisis and protect the sanity of the lady, in case there are challenges which are common to all, though in different forms, I'll suggest you look elsewhere. Marriage has no straight formula for success.

From age 80, most humans become kids and start to act like kids, and at that stage they need compassion and not cruelty.
If you are empathetic in life, no matter what, you will never maltreat anybody even when they push you to the extreme.
Empathy makes us humans.
Can you handle your own mother that way, ask yourself that.
The woman is in agony due to health challenges arising from old age, she need compassionate care and empathy to care for her. Don't support evil in the name of race.
If a caregiver treats your own aged mother that way how would you feel? Will you be happy to watch it?

The low salaries in academics is compensated for by freedom and length of service. The rich guys in academics are people who are highly cerebral to do competitive research and creative innovation to attract grants. We have people like that too in Nigeria, they cannot go broke because of their sterling research. What the present government need to do if it wouldn't derail is not increase in any salary but rather reducing salaries of all political office holders, stabilize the economy, massive investment in sophisticated infrastructure, eliminate security challenges, standard and affordable health care, sanitize the all the government agencies and strengthening our institutions and laws.
