Omoawoke:Don't these people. Why didn't the future of Anambra children secured? At least, he has been governor of his state? |
Royalty83:They're so deluded!!! Don't mind them. |
saintokwuluora:You have no right to insult the sensibility of other people because they do not support your candidate. It's wrong please. Campaign for whoever you thought is the best in Nigeria and let other also do their own without insulting anyone. Both Obi and Tinubu have governed states before, none of them have turned their respective states to Texas or Illinois or decent states globally. Campaign for your candidates in a dignifying way. Insulting others only suggests tribal campaign. |
osazsky:You're perfectly right my brother, no graduate should be earning less than #150k. However, my problem with this government is not in terms of actual amount of salaries but the gross mismanagement of the economy. If you were earning 150k prior or during Jonathan era, and today you're earning 200k, you would probably be worse than Jonathan era in terms of purchasing power. It would have been more interesting to see ASUU engaging the government on the mismanagement of the economy and poor infrastructure in the country. Where was ASUU when fuel price was increased, where was ASUU when electricity tariff was secretly increased in the country. I just read about the outrageous price of gas in the country, has ASUU said anything? These are things that affect the value of your money. Someone with one car in decent society with good roads is better than someone with three cars in Nigeria with poor roads and high level of insecurity. What is obtainable in decent society is common wealth, what you have in Nigeria is individual wealth. That's why you would see someone building a house worth hundreds of millions in a place but there's no good road to the place. You cannot see that in decent climes. Quality of life is more impacted by your environment than your pocket. We cannot all earn the same amount but everyone can enjoy decent life in terms of good health care, good roads, constant power supply, access to clean water and secured environment and compulsory free and quality primary and secondary school education. This what everyone needs for self discovery. Not everyone needs to go to University. I'm looking forward for a time when all the unions will come together to hold FG and state governments hostage on above listed factors and forget their selfish interests. Thanks and God bless!!! |
osazsky:You seemed to be offended my good friend. You need not to be abusive. You can refute my claim without being abusive. The person I referred was a senior colleague in the university system. And all of his contemporaries who retired at the same have all received their entitlements. If your dad is having ssues with his entitlements, it has to be with the documentation. The entitlements are released after proper documentation has been done. Perhaps one document is missing and that will be enough to cause the delay, I can tell you not from the government or the school. Government has failed no doubt but you don't accord undeserving blames to the government. |
Ibegtodiffer:My wonderful bro, I understand what you're saying. The matter concerns me because I have children and family members in Nigerian schools. I quite agreed with you, FG is very wicked but unfortunately ASUU is very selfsh because you cannot be comparing yourself with wicked people. ASUU wants to spend like politicians; this is not obtainable anywhere in the world. I remembered during my postdoctoral research training in UCT many years ago, I was staying with professor and his wife is also a professor. They had one car each and in most cases, they only go out with one car. I remembered I once asked him how many houses did he and his wife have. He said do they need more one house? He said they don't need such things. Also, in my current base in Europe, no professor has more than one house I don't know anyone with more than one car. On the contrary, I stayed in University staff quarter BQ for a while in Nigeria, I didn't know any professor with one car. All my senior professors have multiple of cars and no one had less than two houses apart from staying in university quarters. Let me tell you one bitter truth, as at the time I was staying in the BQ of the University Staff Quarters, the professor that owns the main building was collecting about #70k annually from me for staying in two rooms. He and his family are staying in the main building, and government was taking just #30k annually from his salary. Anytime we engaged in discussion about Nigeria state of affairs, the same Profs would be the first to nail the politicians. Nigerian problem is systemic and all parties need to sit down to address the issues sincerely. This continuous closure of the university is wickedness. |
Are you an illiterate or what? Didn’t you read that negotiations have been concluded with the Briggs committee since may but the FG has not deemed it right to look at the agreements and give the next line of action [/quote You need to learn how universities are funded throughout the world vis-a-vis the current realities in your country. Everyone who's well informed in funding of education and societal cost and benefits knows what ASUU is saying is not realistic. That's why you would see that if the ASUU chairman becomes the governor of his state, he will not allocate all state resources to university in his state because by then he would have seen what he is not seen now and he would be faced realities on how universities education should be funded. Then lastly, learn to engage people without insult. Your name is not ASUU, so ASUU can be critized. You shouldn't feel personally offended if people don't share your views on issues please. Your children, if you have one will never agree with you in all issues. Learn to control your temper and your ✋. |
osazsky:You must be lying or your dad is not telling you the truth. A senior colleague retired two years ago during COVID-19. He has received his entitlement, I was part of the people that linked him to one of the good asset management firms in the country to invest his entitlements last year. So you need to question your dad. |
sinkhole:Contrary to your your thought, I was also from a poor home and was a university lecturer for many years. I understood what you went through because I went through harder situation and was privileged to have friend and together with my Vice Principal who paid my WAEC close to three decades ago. The funding of university throughout the world is not done by government alone. Everyone contributes to it. Let the actual cost of university education be charged, while government allows each university to negotiate with each lecturer what each university can afford to pay them. Government should provide subvention from time to time to augment Capital infrastructure in university, and students on 2:1 and above should be placed on scholarships. Students on 2:2 and below(with clear evidence of being from poor home) shoukd be placed on borrowing to be paid back when they start working. By so doing, you and I would have been covered and other poor students. It will encourage many students to work harder and everyone would have contributed to finance education. I must be sincere with you, with years of my teaching in University, I came across many students that had no business with university education because they have passion and talent for other things. Unfortunately, they had to come because of too much noise on university education. Government subsidy on such students was a complete waste of resources. It would have made sense if the funds have been used to finance technical education, fashion school, football academy and music school. |
frog12:Bros, how many CJN do you have? The amount wasn't just given to him but was stipulated in the constitution. That's why we keep saying that the current constitution needs to be revisited. All unions must put aside their selfsh interest and fight to ensure government do important things that can bring development to the nation at large and those things include: Revisiting the constitution and decentralization of powers to the states |
sinkhole:Stop deceiving yourself! ASUU is not fighting for anybody. They are fighting for their pockets and their families. How can fight over salaries payment platform translate to improved buildings or how can increase in salaries translate to improved buildings. Please stop that. Funding of the university is not done by government alone. It's combined efforts of government, institutions, private sector, international donors. What's the cost of university education in Nigeria compared to South Africa, US or Canada or other decent climes. You cannot be paying #50k per annum and wat to enjoy the service someone who's paying #800,000 per annum is enjoying. University education is over subsidized in Nigeria and unfortunately societal benefits of university education is the least in any society throughout the world. The societal benefits of primary and secondary is highest to any society throughout the world that's why primary and secondary are almost free through the world. Please ASUU should call off strike, all the stakeholders need to sit down on realistic ways to finance university education in today's realities. This is not 1980 where the population then wasn't up to Lagos. The current realities do not support what's ASUU is saying and they know it . |
There are stealing and bad politics in every sphere of life, but I have never heard of 80billion naira being stolen by a University official before [/quoteIf you compare the amount of money individual have access to and what's stolen, you would know corruption in University is worse. If I have access to #100, and I stole Le #50, and someone has access to #10000, and stole #100, you would agree with me that the first thief will be crucifying the second thief whereas he's a worse thief proportionately to the amount that pass through them. |
Kaiair:Which yeye no work no pay, all the salaries will be paid before the strike is called off. I know their operation. They're only withholding their salaries, ASUU will never call off the strike until all the accumulated salaries are paid. And that's the weakness in the labor laws in Nigeria, it's not obtainable anywhere again. |
sinkhole:ASUU is only thriving because of the weakness in labour laws in Nigeria. If there's a strong and unbroken law on 'No work, No pay' , then you would understand what I'm saying. It makes no sense shutting the door of university for months and still collect the salaries after the strike. That's already a motivation for strike. If you know that if you don't work, you won't pay, you will think well before going on strike. ASUU should stop telling the public they're fighting for students, the politics and corruption and stealing in Universities is worse. |
If other deprived people in Nigeria are not talking that does mean that a deprived ASUU or those who want to talk should do "mumu" and shot-up! If anybody embezzle TETFund money, it is the duty of FG through the same TETFund to fish out and punish such lecturer/researcher, if they failed then you can not blame the defaulter! How can you blame a thief when police refused to do their work?[/quote While it's their to go on strike, you cannot shut the door of University for months and expected to be paid. Also, they should stop telling the public and they're fighting for students. They're wicked set of human beings. Unfortunately, the corruption and politics in University system is worse than in the government. I just hope government can be very decisive. |
Truthisunique2:How much are they paying secondary school teachers? Or Primary school teachers? Or our doctors who toil day and night in hospitals? University lecturers are not the only set of people in Nigeria and comparatively, they are among the most privileged Nigerians. Should everyone now go on strike because whatever every sector is being paid is quite low compared to what was looted? Shutting the door of University for months makes no sense. If you want to earn what politicians are earning, resign and contest. I have so many lecturers friends that received TETFUND and used the money to build houses and bought cars. That was money meant for research. |
Truthisunique2:ASUU is a very selfish union. They're tactically fighting for their selfsh interest and hiding under the image of fighting for students. Imagine refusing to work for several months and expected to be paid to during the strike or at worst all the accumulated salaries after the strike. They didn't loose anything fighting for their supposed selfsh interest. Virtually all the sectors of Nigerian economy is in serious crisis. Imagine the situation of our doctors and state of the hospitals in Nigeria, if doctors go on strike for 4 months given the pressure they go through daily and poor state of health facilities, what would be the fate many poor Nigerian patients who still patronise government hospitals and some of them still receive their health care in those government facilities. Government needs to be very decisive with this union, funding of Universities throughout the world is a concerted efforts of the government, universities, private sectors and the alumni. Many professors in Canadian Universities are appointed on part time basis. Government needs to grant these universities financial autonomy. Government should stop paying university salaries, all government needs to do is to provide subvention from time, and allow each university to source money to pay whoever they employed as lecturers. The students should be made to pay the actual cost of the University education as obtainable elsewhere. While government should provide comprehensive scholarships for students on 2:1 and above, while those on 2:2 below with clear cut evidence of being an indigent students should be placed on loan to be repaid after school. |
skywalker240:Tho what extent did he develop Anambra? |
It's not possible for Obidient to b a running mate to kwankwaso, because Nigeria's are craving for Obi and not the latter.[/quo Igbos are craving for Obi. |
VulgarVulvas:Please read the write up and learn. Politics aside, do you think he could have worked in Delloite and Mobil without having a degree? The write-up is quite enlightening if you care!!! |
Nothing to check here. There are overwhelming evidence to back it up. INEC already knows that Peter Obi will win with a landslide but they are hell bent on rigging the election for the Iragbiji man[/quote The more reason he would not win because you guys have made Peter Obi an Igbo project and it will not fly. SE votes alone cannot make him a president!!! |
Fahdiga:Better say you and your friends agreed!!! Obi himself is an elite!!! |
Bluntguy:Obi will only win in SE |
Udemzy05:What he said was true! I actually don't know anyone from SW following Mbaka. I'm sure you're unlikely to find any core northerner following him to. That someone disagrees with you doesn't make him or her wrong person. We will always support different candidate for reason best known to individual. |
ArmaniUhuru:You have just one vote! There are millions and millions of people voting for Tinubu. |
RexTramadol1: |
maestroferddi:Which youth? Peter Obi will only win in SE. |
God1000:He's the worst |
vicdom:You better cry yourself. None of them is the mesiah. Tinubu is guilty for working to bring in calamity as president.Osibanjo is guilty for working with calamity with no impact. None of them can do what Nigeria needs now to succeed which is disintegration or true Federalism. Osinbajo doesn't have the experience and temerity to do such. All of them are thieves. |
MikoB:PYO cannot win any state in the North. You actually don't know northerners. And unfortunately, he won't win much in SW, not to talk of SE. Forget, Emergency of Atiku has completely removed PYO. You may argue against because of your love for PYO. |
post=113161146:Honestly, this is the deepest!!! |
God bless you for this wonderful write up!!! It meant a lot!!! |
