Making the release of this terrorist one of their demands was ill-advised a a sad betrayal of the Nigerian people and the Nigerian nation. Protests, by definition, is a Protests against something. It is when a mass of people organize to make a statement. Therefore, once a protest has occurred, it is a success. Only an idiot would say that a protest that already happened has failed. |

sIfioksq: What a sight to behold! A woman with an empty pot joining the protest in Ojota. This is what we call a grand show of desperation. While some are genuinely hungry for change, others are merely hungry for attention. The empty pot is a perfect metaphor for the empty promises these protests bring. Instead of uniting to build, we are busy parading our woes for the world to see. When will we learn that no amount of noise will fill those pots if the leaders remain deaf to our cries? This is by far the stupidest post I have seen lately. I'm not sure there is anything more genuine, more symbolic than a woman carrying an empty pot to protest hunger and frustration brought on by bad governance. This woman and her symbolic courage will live forever in the anals of Nigeria n history. Mark my words. If you are more concerned with global image, then you are living in an alternate reality. |

Zico5: Wisdom is a principal thing. These organisers lack wisdom and that's why they failed to do the right thing. How can u mock the religion of billions of people in the world and expect things to go on well. Christianity is tolerant. If they try to do this to Muslim of mock Muhammed, they will pay for it. Lol. The religious mind is too opaque to understand and and appreciate artistic expression. The question is: why are peactioners of religion always so sensitive and nervous around art and artistic expression? They are sensitive and nervous around philosophical questions and expression. They are sensitive and nervous about scientific inquiries and expression of scientific knowledge. Religion, itself, is the real mocker of the human intellect and artistic expression. |

sIfioksq: True talk! Home is where the heart is, and Tinubu is reminding us of the importance of our roots. No matter where we go, Nigeria will always be our foundation. Let's rally together and build the Nigeria we all dream of! Lol. Another empty talk. No place like home, except when it comes to medical trips. Charity begins at home. I can wager that there is not a single member of Tinubu's cabinet that does not have a home abroad. I can also wager that there ko single cabinet member whose child is not studying abroad. " No place like home " is for those who have no choices. |

raskymonojendor: Reno get bad mouth Sha.
Dele momodu graduated with a degree in Yoruba from the department of Linguistics and African Languages, Faculty of Arts, OAU.
Economics may indeed not be Bob Dee's forte. That's a very very narrow understanding of what constitutes an education. An education is not about bagging a degree this one discipline or another. And education is first and foremost about sharpening the mind for further learning and understanding. An educated person who bagged a degree in Yoruba should be able to digest and understand basic to mid-level economic issues, and he has much zeal , digest and understand complex matters of economics. The human brain is elastic. A person, at any age, with enough zeal and practice , can become an expert in any field of endeavor . |

Politics › Re: All Eyes On Igbo: Nigeria Seems Empty and Bereft of Ideas Without The Igbos by plaetton: 2:13pm On Jul 18, 2024 |
AlaafinOfOyo: Why are you all interested in the Igbo joining or not joining the protest? As in a protest you people are planning as Nigerians of 250+ ethnic groups, the stance of one group—Igbo—is all you're concerned with.
Fulani, who have been cutting wide swats in tears and blood and have even seized the ethnic homeland of dozens of tribes after displacing some and installing themselves as rulers in others, are not your concern. What's even more interesting is that the same Fulani are spearheading the protest despite holding the country at ransom with banditry, kidnapping, and ethnic cleansing. The same Fulani are not your concern, but Igbo. As in, Igbo, who you all united as one man to fight and defeat in a war, are still your star player, which you cannot do without after 60 years. Why?
Why should Igbo be involved in a fight where two looters are having a misunderstanding over stolen loot? Umuigbo, you better open your eyes. Whether in the north or west, do not get involved. Why? Four men came and fought you in your house and beat you to a stupor. While you were unconscious, they started looting everything in and around your house. On the way with your loot, the two that initiated the fight settled the two that assisted them with 13%. Later, a fight broke out among the two big looters over the sharing formular for the remaining 87%. Should you get involved?
The truth is that they're not yet ready to protest. Real protests are never planned or advertised. In fact, the 2020 so-called ENDSARS protest that they even printed banners and fliers is a joke. Ask the British what they learned about the Aba and Calabar women of 1929. They'll tell you what a real protest looks like. When Nigerians are truly hungry and tired of the mess the country has become, even the protest will have no organizer. Not a tribe or a class. In the meantime, bear in mind that if it is based on natural selection, you, as Onye Igbo, are a natural survivor. Simply face and protect your business. Say no to the protest, and let the dead bury their own dead. I keep saying that Nigerians are probably the most stuupid people on the planet. And that's why they get the kind of leaders they deserve. They are supposedly planning a protest, and long before the contemplated event, there are controversies, finger pointing, scapegoating, etc. I can't stop laughing. Like you pointed out, real groundshaking protests are usually spontaneous, and knows no ethnic or religious boundaries. Igbophobia seems to be a chronic disease that has unfortunately been pushing this country backwards and backwards for many decades. |

https://www.channelstv.com/2024/07/04/nigerias-economy-can-be-turned-around-in-months-dangote/ There is absolutely nothing new about what Dangote said. Infact, I have been hearing this since I began to read newspapers in my pre-teen years. A European expat said it few decades ago that Nigeria can be one of the best economies in the world if is run the same way you run a business: recruit the best brains, give them tasks and run an efficient service delivery system. It is that simple. But not that simple in a place called Nigeria. Here, the Corruption Industrial Complex would never allow anything to function efficiently in Nigeria. Government is far too profitable and lucrative for those that ply the trade. |

Within just 3 months of the Buhari administration, I knew he was going to be an abysmal failure. And I made that prediction here on Nairaland. The body language of any new governor or president in the first few months tells you what to expect over the coming years.
For instance, in this Tinubu Administration, he has done absolutely nothing about reducing the cost of governance. All the senior officials of the Senate and House of Assembly are either under active EFCC indictments or formerly convicted. With overbloated and padded budgets , more and more borrowings, this government, unfortunately, is already failing. |

In fact, Tinubu is a poster boy for all Rent-seekers and political jobbers in Nigeria.
As President for just 1 yr, Tinubu has done more for political Rent-seekers and wannabes than any other leader in Nigerian history.
The very Rapacious political elites which Tinubu unabashedly represents , are the real Rent-seekers that He should be rebuking, not ordinary Nigerians who have been their perennial victims. |

Hunger I'd biting everyone. Hunger doesn't know PARTY, Tribe or Religion. Nigerians keep making the same mistakes over and over again in every election in every election cycle.
