Barely 300 years ago, the whole of Europe was busy burning witches.

And 300 years is nothing in the large picture of cycles.
I agree.
And now they look back at those eras in disgust. They showcase these eras in books and films to show where they came from and how far they have since evolved.

Now, in this age where every scientific discovery,
the immutable laws cause and effect are within everyone's palm to understand, if the African mind is failing to catch up with modern scientific rationalism , then is it any wonder that the question of intellectual inferiority continually puts us on the defensive ?

Nigeria being a failed state is a different question from Black Africans being innately inferior as a race. Do you think Black Africans are innately inferior as a race?
Thinking about the question more deeply.
I would answer no.
A failure to nurture the rational part of our brains and use it to build positive lasting legacies for coming generations is itself not necessarily a sign of inferiority, but a negation of self-worth and potential.

We are not biologically inferior, but mentally lazy, too lazy to face and conquer self-serving primitive impulses.

Now, other races who recognize these long-conqured impulses in our actions could and often use it to make the case of intellectual inferiority.

I once had a very heated argument with colleagues on a Nigerian forum. During a national election when candidates and their parties were going around different communities wooing voters and laying out their policy thrusts and programs , the African communities were being fed with stuupid spiritual mumbo jumbos. Rather than telling the African immigrant communities about policies and programs , they inundated them with warnings about the election being a spiritual warfare between the children of god and Satan. I was sooo angry that I attacked them and asked if spiritual mumbo jumbos were the only things an African mind was capable of understanding ? Sadly , I was alone , as everyone on the Nigerian forum came out against me.

So, yes, it does worry me a lot whether religious mumbo jumbos are the only things an African brain, even educated ones, are capable of processing.

Infact, we would and do defend and justify our intellectual abilities with every excuse possible.

But day by day, year by year, decade after decade, the quality of the output from our system continually betray and shame us.

What skin colour are you?

Stupid dunce.

THE THING ABOUT FOOLS LIKE YOU IS THAT YOU ARE SO STUPID AND THOUGHTLESS, YOU DON'T REALISE THAT WHEN YOU CALL YOUR RACE INFERIOR, YOU ARE CALLING YOUR OWN SELF, YOUR MOTHER, WIFE, SIBLINGS, CHILDREN, AND FATHER, INFERIOR BEINGS.

STUPID, EMPTY HEAD.
There is a saying " the conquest of self is the greatest conquest of all ".
Conquest of self begins with accepting bitter truths. Only cowards and people of fragile self-esteem fear to look into their own psyches.

There is also another saying that " The pre-eminence of any system or philosophy is to be found in the quality of its output " .

In the case of Nigeria, our gross national output has consistently been pure and unadulterated stuupidity.

I don't know about you , I say it to anyone who cares to listen that Nigeria is a failed state.
Why do I say that despite the fact that I'm a Nigerian ?
Well, because it is true.

People like you might play ostrich and pretend that it is not. Most likely you feel that calling Nigeria a failed state diminishes your personal self-esteem. So your failure to admit your shortcomings is a psychological thing.
Therefore my friend, that's your personal problem, not mine.

Now, for me , when I say that Nigeria is a failed state and that Nigerians are stuupid people, it does not negatively affect my personal self-esteem, no sir, rather , it causes me to continually self-reflect , to continually ask why and how, to seek answers to the enigma of our perennial failures as a nation and people.

Religion, blindfaith tokunbo religions have proven to be the most mentally debilitating disease in Africa , and Nigeria in particular.
In Nigeria, Religion is the equivalent of Depleted Uranium dumped on us from the Middle East and Europe. It is extremely toxic and harms every thing( every mind) that it touches.

The fact Nigerians in the diaspora, who managed, by hook or crook, to escape the man-made hellhole called Nigeria, still carry the burden, the disease of the Depleted Uranium highlights the nagging questions of intellectual deficiency on a continental scale.

Ilekokonit:
On another note, the article below says that religious experiences shrink part of the brain and if true, this must mean that religion makes you think irrationally or lose touch with rationality.

Religious Experiences Shrink Part of the Brain

A study links life-changing religious experiences, like being “born again,” with atrophy in the hippocampus

The article, “Religious factors and hippocampal atrophy in late life,” by Amy Owen and colleagues at Duke University represents an important advance in our growing understanding of the relationship between the brain and religion. The study, published March 30 in PLoS One, showed greater atrophy in the hippocampus in individuals who identify with specific religious groups as well as those with no religious affiliation. It is a surprising result, given that many prior studies have shown religion to have potentially beneficial effects on brain function, anxiety, and depression.

A number of studies have evaluated the acute effects of religious practices, such as meditation and prayer, on the human brain. A smaller number of studies have evaluated the longer term effects of religion on the brain. Such studies, like the present one, have focused on differences in brain volume or brain function in those people heavily engaged in meditation or spiritual practices compared to those who are not. And an even fewer number of studies have explored the longitudinal effects of doing meditation or spiritual practices by evaluating subjects at two different time points.

In this study, Owen et al. used MRI to measure the volume of the hippocampus, a central structure of the limbic system that is involved in emotion as well as in memory formation. They evaluated the MRIs of 268 men and women aged 58 and over, who were originally recruited for the NeuroCognitive Outcomes of Depression in the Elderly study, but who also answered several questions regarding their religious beliefs and affiliation. The study by Owen et al. is unique in that it focuses specifically on religious individuals compared to non-religious individuals. This study also broke down these individuals into those who are born again or who have had life-changing religious experiences.

The results showed significantly greater hippocampal atrophy in individuals reporting a life-changing religious experience. In addition, they found significantly greater hippocampal atrophy among born-again Protestants, Catholics, and those with no religious affiliation, compared with Protestants not identifying as born-again.

The authors offer the hypothesis that the greater hippocampal atrophy in selected religious groups might be related to stress. They argue that some individuals in the religious minority, or those who struggle with their beliefs, experience higher levels of stress. This causes a release of stress hormones that are known to depress the volume of the hippocampus over time. This might also explain the fact that both non-religious as well as some religious individuals have smaller hippocampal volumes.

This is an interesting hypothesis. Many studies have shown positive effects of religion and spirituality on mental health, but there are also plenty of examples of negative impacts. There is evidence that members of religious groups who are persecuted or in the minority might have markedly greater stress and anxiety as they try to navigate their own society. Other times, a person might perceive God to be punishing them and therefore have significant stress in the face of their religious struggle. Others experience religious struggle because of conflicting ideas with their religious tradition or their family. Even very positive, life-changing experiences might be difficult to incorporate into the individual’s prevailing religious belief system and this can also lead to stress and anxiety. Perceived religious transgressions can cause emotional and psychological anguish. This “religious” and “spiritual pain” can be difficult to distinguish from pure physical pain. And all of these phenomena can have potentially negative effects on the brain.

Thus, Owen and her colleagues certainly pose a plausible hypothesis. They also cite some of the limitations of their findings, such as the small sample size. More importantly, the causal relationship between brain findings and religion is difficult to clearly establish. Is it possible, for example, that those people with smaller hippocampal volumes are more likely to have specific religious attributes, drawing the causal arrow in the other direction? Further, it might be that the factors leading up to the life-changing events are important and not just the experience itself. Since brain atrophy reflects everything that happens to a person up to that point, one cannot definitively conclude that the most intense experience was in fact the thing that resulted in brain atrophy. So there are many potential factors that could lead to the reported results. (It is also somewhat problematic that stress itself did not correlate with hippocampal volumes since this was one of the potential hypotheses proposed by the authors and thus, appears to undercut the conclusions.) One might ask whether it is possible that people who are more religious suffer greater inherent stress, but that their religion actually helps to protect them somewhat. Religion is frequently cited as an important coping mechanism for dealing with stress.

This new study is intriguing and important. It makes us think more about the complexity of the relationship between religion and the brain. This field of scholarship, referred to as neurotheology, can greatly advance our understanding of religion, spirituality, and the brain. Continued studies of both the acute and chronic effects of religion on the brain will be highly valuable. For now, we can be certain that religion affects the brain--we just are not certain how.

When leaders , irrespective of their academic credentials, find themselves clueless and incompetent about their responsibilities, they usually resort to blaming the masses, the victims of their incompetence. Of course, it's much easier to blame the victims than it is to work courageously to improve their lot.
It's the known way of cowards.

Once the power minister begins to blame Nigerian consumers of electricity, then it's the 100% proof that we should not expect any real improvement in power supply from the power ministry.

I am soo ashamed to call myself Nigerian.
Nigeria and Nigerians are the most stuupid and useless people on Earth.
If not for living relatives in Nigerian, I would renounce any association with Nigeria and never set foot in that cursed land and cursed people ever.

Just few days ago , right in the middle of the most severe economic crunch in the history of Nigeria, the federal government increased electricity tarrifs to levels never seen before. In a country where people barely get 6 total hours of electricity in a month , that should have sparked outrage.
But as usual , they murmur quietly and then move on, waiting for the next round of humiliation from their political elites.

The political elites are raping, looting and robbing the people of Nigeria every single day. They have become so brazen that it longer makes headlines. When it does, only for one short day, and then the people move on to the next round.

All around Nigeria, bandits are running amok, killing, maiming and kidnapping. Yet, Nigerians murmur quietly, and then move on.

Yet, in the middle all these chaos and confusion, the EFCC, the police and all the law enforcement agencies find their relevance in harassing , detaining and prosecuting social media entertainers.
Most shocking is that the Nigerian people, the most raped and abused by the their political elites on Earth, are busy cheering on . Remember, one day they will come for you too.

It's like the EFCC, impotent and incompetent to confront Nigeria's vast and expanding Corruption Industrial/Political Complex , deliberately chooses to entertain the hungry and stuupid masses with these sideshows.

Shame on EFCC.
Shame on all Nigerians.

A colleague of mine was telling me recently how his friend who just travelled to Canada and in Canada did a six months Psychology programme got employed by a Company over there.

The work of the Company is to assist vulnerable people especially those ones that are suicidal.

He said the pay is quite good and in just few hours being with your client you can earn like 400 dollars.

He said this his friend has wife and kids in Nigeria who will be relocating soon to Canada and that there was this Nigerian client who is a woman in Canada that was having suicidal thoughts and wanted to even kill her child that the Government had to take the child away from her.

He said he felt maybe it's Ogbanje that is worrying the woman but Oyibo people don't know what is Ogbanje.

The Company told my colleagues friend to do like an undercover blind date and meet up with the woman which he did and that he actually met the woman and even slept with her to make her happy.

In my mind I was just wondering that things de really happen for life.

Are psychologist known to sleep with their clients?
That is the way the psychologist of omahlay slept with him too.
I'm not sure how trash like this gets to the front page.
Sounds like a badly concocted nija movie script.

First of all, there is no such thing as a six months psychology program that qualifies anyone to be psychologist, talkless of being allowed access to vulnerable people. That's absolute fiction.
Secondly, no psychologist or social worker or counselor would commit the unethical and illegal act of engaging with a client on a personal level, no matter the circumstances.

Again, I wonder how this silly story makes any sense and how it got to the front page.

Bad policies, yes.
But the recent slump of the Naira was not only inevitable, but predictable. It is just delayed moment of reckoning.
For 8yrs , Nigeria was ruled, micromanaged by a bloke who was not shy to admit that he didn't understand how the economy works. He borrowed, borrowed and borrowed more for non-productive ventures. We used scare resources to defend the Naira rather than allow it to gradually find its true productive value over time.
The shock we are seeing over the last couple of months simply could have occurred gradually over an 8yr period.

A currency represents the productive capacity of the economy.
The Naira has lost its sovereignty for 3 main reasons.

1. It is neither backed by any Gold reserves nor a productive economy. An economy RUN on imported generators that RUN on imported fuel cannot ever be productive.

2. Nigeria is heavily indebted. Our forex earnings from crude oil are being primarily used for debt servicing.

3. We still run the most expensive, most inefficient and most corrupt political system in the world. A system that neither inspires confidence, patriotism nor investments.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with BDCs.
Over the 40yrs or so, they had become a necessary and essential part of our economic system.
On the other hand, the banking system is perhaps the biggest problem in Nigeria over the same 40yrs .
The BDCs perform an essential service that Nigerian banks have refused to do - provide forex liquidity to the economy. Banks are 100% complicit in every act of corruption in Nigeria, yet neither the banks nor their managements are ever humiliated or punished.

Now, let's look at secondary school economics 101.
