Following his widely publicized statement demanding the resignation of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has denied a media report that he “bombed” President Muhammadu Buhari. Tinubu was quoted to have made some remarks about Buhari, including that the latter begged him to emerge president in 2015. In a statement by the Tinubu Media Office yesterday, Jagaban as fondly called, stated that the story was concocted by political enemies. The statement reads: “In the past 48 hours, we have noticed the churning out of falacious and outright malicious stories in the social media concerning Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. “We want to state that the stories are patently false and we urge unsuspecting Nigerians to ignore the lies being spread and the wicked stories about what Tinubu purportedly said or did. “The stories being churned out are being done by some fifth columnists who seek to drive a wedge between these leaders. “One of such stories is the one entitled ‘Tinubu Bombs Buhari,’ which is fit only for the trash can and a figment of the writer’s imagination. “Asiwaju Tinubu remains a staunch APC stalwart and supporter of the APC government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. Tinubu is preoccupied with assisting to find solutions to the present challenges now confronting us as a nation and nothing will distract him from doing this.” Tinubu allegedly made the comments when he received a segment of APC chieftains from the South West who paid him a solidarity visit late on Monday. He was quoted to have said: “I regret building APC and giving Buhari a platform to become president. “We all knew he didn’t merit to be president, but you know how we politicians behave when we are desperate for electoral position; We beg. “That was how President Buhari always and frequently came to my private house here in Ikoyi with his entourage which included that Nasiru and others. “At a point, he was practically living in my house, under my roof. The room he was sleeping was just 6-7 steps from my own private room. I was building his confidence because he didn’t have it. He was even scared of Atiku and Rabiu. “What I ate, he ate. My security was his security because he expressed fears about the security provided by the Jonathan government. He was afraid of Jonathan. “Now they occupy Aso Rock and they think Asiwaju Tinubu is finished. He is using people I brought from obscurity against me. Now they say my mouth is smelling. They say I’m no longer relevant. The battle line is drawn, I will show them the meaning of Asiwaju. “I know they have surrounded my house. They are there outside. You can’t see them but I know where they are. I see them, but I am not afraid of them. They know that.” When asked “what next” by one of the loyalists, who said: “What do we do now?” Tinubu was quoted to have replied: “Don’t worry, just watch. Time will tell, I built this party and I can destroy it, but for now, I vow, PDP must win Ondo State.” http://dailypost.ng/2016/09/28/tinubu-denies-circulating-quotes-involving-apc-buhari-jonathan-atiku-others/

The board of the World Bank has unanimously agreed to name Jim Yong Kim to a second term as president, the global lender announced Tuesday. Kim had been the only candidate in a process criticized by World Bank staff and campaigners as lacking in transparency and dominated by the United States. In a statement announcing the decision, the Bank’s board offered a strong endorsement of Kim’s record, including setting the goal of eliminating extreme global poverty by 2030 and an internal reorganization to promote better coordination which provoked staff dissent. The board also said an effort under Kim to cut bank spending had reduced administrative costs by $400 million, money then reinvested to support the bank’s goals. “Chairs expressed satisfaction that this Expenditure Review is on track, allowing the organization to increase its support for countries and focus on delivering results more quickly,” the statement said. Following an unwritten rule, the United States, the Bank’s largest shareholder, has chosen all World Bank presidents since the institution’s creation after the Second World War. But when he was nominated for a first term in 2012, Kim was the first US nominee to face a challenger when Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala entered the contest. Kim received the US endorsement almost immediately after the window for nominations for the term beginning next July opened, perhaps warding off challengers and avoiding a repeat of 2012. However, the Bank’s staff association last month delivered a stinging broadside, citing high levels of disaffection among its 15,000 http://m.guardian.ng/news/world-bank-unanimously-reappoints-president-jim-yong-kim/

US Presidential Debate Donald Trump is a Nigerian politician Ayomide O. Tayo | 12:45 | 27.09.2016 Donald Trump's behaviour as a politician is similar to that of many politicians in the country. 24/7 Live - Subscribe to the Pulse Newsletter! Subscribe Yesterday, Monday, September 26, 2016, the first US presidential debate » in this election race took place. For the first time, Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump sparred over who will be in the White House for the next four years. During the debate, Donald Trump dodged questions, lied and bullied his opponent. Instead of giving solutions, he highlighted problems and stated that his administration will deal with these problems without offering a clear blueprint on how to do so. Does this sound familiar? Forget his skin colour and his nationality, Donald Trump is a Nigerian politician at the core. During the election period in Nigeria in 2015, Nigerian politicians did the same things that Donald Trump is doing now- make a lot of noise, have a fancy slogan and fail to provide solutions to the problems that affect the average Nigerian. ALSO READ: Hilary Clinton attacks Donald Trump on economy » If Donald Trump was born in these parts he would have been a very successful politician. He would have started his political career as a thug and risen to the position of a senator. We can laugh at the ridiculous things Trump says but Nigerian politicians do worse and they have found themselves in positions of power. Donald Trump is not fond of debates, and the world will not be surprised if he does not show up for the remaining two debates. You know who doesn't like debates too? Nigeria politicians. Presidential debates in Nigeria tilts towards comedy than politics just like the Republican presidential debates that felt like a comedy show. Also, the Republican Party candidate doesn't have a clear plan to make America great again. He just spins the same rhetoric all the time. If you get the chance to interview an average Nigerian politician and ask for his policies, he or she would probably not have any. At the end of this presidential campaign in America, if Donald Trump loses he can move to Nigeria to further his political career. http://pulse.ng/gist/us-presidential-debate-donald-trump-is-a-nigerian-politician-id5536985.html
