Pacemaker: Your thread is kinda evasive meaning it's here and there. I understand this is a blog and most of us blog on our phone with key sensitive phones or tiny key pads. What kind of American goods are you trying to import ?
Is there a cheaper alternative, like made in china? Would Nigerians tell the difference from afar? What is the market demand in Nigeria? You may think you are smart to bring product that is not saturated, also remember that it takes money to create awareness for that new product, do you have extra cash for marketing and free samples? Consider those questions before venturing into American goods.
What i'm trying to say is there are bubbles in the Nigerian import market. An example of this would be cars, people were making alot of money on that, but awareness of this opportunity spread and the profits crashed.

If you want to make money you must find the bubbles before anyone else does, not just hitch on at the end.

But about the business, its mainly disposable goods like diapers, but i'm not involved in the day-to-day operation so i don't know the deets.

BusinessAre You Guys Making Money On Forex. by pleep(op): 9:49pm On Sep 02, 2012
I know the basics of forex and stock trading but i'm a little hesitant to just jump right into it. What are ur experiences with Forex, is it hard to start up? is it worth trying? Im mainly wondering if you need to read books or go to classes to be successful at this. I want to open an E-trade account and any info would be invaluable. thanks.

I'm in. So whats happening?

Anyway just my 2 cents; From what i have seen investment in Nigeria is really most successful when you are based abroad, and have spare money laying around. that is what me and my uncle are doing... or trying to do rather, Its been alot slower than i anticipated. Right now were are trying to import american products into Nigeria but it seems like the market is saturated. And people want things at a quantity that is not economical to ship. By the time you hear about an opportunity it has probably already been exploited to the max, so your best bet is to find something new.

But if anyone has any info on what imported goods are popular in Nigeria let me know. wink Also, is anyone having a good time with the poultry farming?
ComputersRe: Why Are Apple Laptops So Freaking Expensive? Really? by pleep(m): 2:06am On Aug 31, 2012
OOG: Interesting... I got my core i5 macbook pro for N172,000 mid last year. Immediately upgraded to 8gb ram and hybrid 500Gb hdd with another N30,000 which brings it to a total of N202,000 and yet it's still way cheaper than the Envy 17 you mentioned.
Is this thread still about macbooks being so expensive? The HP Envy 17 I got for a client recently cost twice the amount I spent on my macbook pro and yet the guy is stuck with Windows OS whereas I dualboot Windows and Mac OS on my macbook pro! So who do you think got a better bargain?
The plain truth is that I don't believe macs are expensive; you really get what you pay for. I spend virtually 70% of my time on my laptop and I assure you the Mac OS gives you a far better and stable user experience. I still have qualms with Apple in some areas but largely, they've done a great work.
At the end of the day PCs will sell and Macs will sell no matter what our varied opinions may be but let's not try and cheapen and discredit the good work Apple has done in giving us an alternative to PCs. Recently, macbook sales have been on the rise because most people are just plain tired of their PCs.
How on earth did you figure a 17 inch Hp would cost the same as a 17 inch macbook pro. Do u know the 17 inch macbook used to cost over $2700? lol.. and it only had 2 gb of RAM grin
