As for the pure natives of Brazil, they were so isolated they don't even have immunity to European diseases.

I wasn't going to say anything about this, but something happened yesterday that made up my mind. This moderator named sexkills is a terrible mod, and in my personal oppinion should be stripped of the job. I'm just saying this as friendly advice and no harm is intended.

Sexkills abuses admin privileges in the romance section, he simply hides any post he doesnt like, doesnt agree with, or is critical of him. There are threads that have pages and pages hidden just because sexkills didnt like them. He is also too emotional, and picks sides. I think it is important for people in positions of authority to be even handed and not pick favorites, this guy is neither. Yesterday, i was provoked into an argument with another poster. She had the first word and she had the last, but this guy bans me not her, ostensibly because she is a friend of his. Even though she started and continued the argument he didn't want to do what was right and be fair with his 'punishment'.

There is nothing more annoying on a forum or website than moderators who powertrip, it can ruin the atmosphere. Many others agree that Sexkills is a terrible mod, i'm just putting this out there no harm intended.

However, In the south of the continent, were euro style farming is possible, total extermination was attempted by the Germans in something called the 'Nambian Genocide'. This was a concentration camp style extermination designed to free up farmland for German settlers, part of a German policy called Lebensraum 'living space.'

The population decrease in North and South America was drastic because of the lack of immunity and the large populations. Tecnochitlan, the capital of the Aztecs, was the biggest city in the world at the time, 5 times larger than Rome. After the Spanish arrival the population decreased by millions. Nevertheless, the only indegenous populations that were able to be completly wiped out were the ones that were small in the first place, like the native peoples of Argentina and those in the extreame south of the continent. The aboriginals that remained were assimilated into the Europeans as mestizos.

When a population is exposed to a new disease a miniature evolution occurs. Even in pre-colonial south american there were a few people who[i] were[/i] immune to smallpox, this is because of natural human mutations. When the disease was introcuded the people without this mutation died, while those few who were naturally immune survived and spread their genes. The disease itself then mutates, and those who were previously immune are not anymore. So eventually the South Americans were just as immune to smollpox as the Europeans, which is to say not very immune at all.
