First explain to me how you guys thought it was smart to begin building a completely new aircraft platform in the middle of a war... There was no logical way the project would have been complete in time for the fighting. Hell... its almost 20 years to late. Unless Denel and the S.A government are completely r.etarded yall intended that vehicle for export, and in that you failed miserably. You say the Rooivalk performs better in harsh conditions, says who? unlike your helicopter, the Apache has actually been combat tested in the Gulf war where it performed brilliantly after modification. It has also been used in Isreal, Egypt and Saudi Arabia with no problems. What has the Rooivalk ever done except sit in a hanger? And btw the Rooivalk is a flying target for the Longbow system and the Apaches hellfire missles. You have no way to escape them, and the U.S will not license the tech to Denel. (another reason why no country will waste money on a Rooivalk) Even if Boeing is unable to sell Apaches to 3rd world countries, they are selling 100's to the biggest buyer in the world. The U.S government with its 650 billion dollar defense budget. The Apache is a huge sucess, the Rooivalk is a huge failure. Accept it and move on. |
snydergp: Are you stup*d or just plane ignorant, did you even read the follow up report on the same article which I posted from engineeringnews.co.za even wiki has the latest report on the rooivalk. I even gave u the specifications on the rooivalk vs the apache and mi-28.Your report came out like 4 days ago. As of today only 12 are in service. Basically you guys spent almost 30 years and billions of dollars to make an aircraft that is more expensive than its superior competitors. Who would buy a Rooivalk when they could get an Apache Longbow? The only reason why your government uses this (slighty) inferior product is because it is home-grown, but the quality of your defense force will suffer for it. This is a failure no matter how you want to paint it. South africa managed to salvage the mess, but its still a failure |
We waste 1 billion dollars each year importing rediculous military hardware that we will never use. What do we need mobile artillery and apache gunships for? boko-haram? If the Nigerian military didn't have underdeveloped chicken brains they would realize that you need infrastructure to win a war. South Africa has it we don't. That $1 billion should be invested into building indegenous military engines, support systems and factories so if real conflict broke out we could actually service all these weapons in combat. All this spending you guys are posting stupidity... Nigeria is a country that doesn't even have 24/7 hour electricity, how do you expect to service a FBC-1A Flying Leopard II! with a fuckin generator? |
agaugust: you are wrong. Nigeria manufactures weapons from machine guns to mortars to night vision equipment to bullet proof vests to armoured personnel carriers to unmanned air drones, and all productions are increasing every day, also we will soon manufacture heavy artilery.Dude. The air beetle, seriously ![]() I love my people, but i'm sorry that is a joke. The air beetle is a homebuilt kit aircraft that teenagers in the united states make in their garage for science projects! and to make matters worse it was designed by van, a foreign company, not even by Nigerian technology. As for the armoured personnel carriers they are just Toyotas with extra armor melded on. The chasies, powertrain, engine etc was made in foreign countries. Look at this thing, its a joke! https://www.nairaland.com/309607/yaradua-inspects-nigeria-made-armoured-personnel I know we manufacture the AK-47, but that is only from 1 factory, say a missile hit that factory.... pwaam we have to import guns again. And that technology in itself is not impressive because not only are small arms obsolete, but the AK is probably the easiest and cheapest gun on earth to manufacture. Is this toy something to be proud of?

Kirinwa:krinwa... maybe the rapists forced them to have sex for fun? ![]() |
This fubby na real professional |
But ill admit that you guys are light-years ahead of Nigeria when it comes to actual hardware development and military infrastructure. .... The Nigerian military is just a straw stabbed in the back of the country sucking money for Europe and Asia. Agaugust & Co' we havent created anything so we really have nothing to be proud of here... the Nigerian military is a joke. |
andrewza: You showing your level of ignorince.100% lies. You don't spend 1$ billion dollars on a military project that is not for export...that is the only way these military companies are able to recoup their losses from production. The rooivalk is the biggest military flop in African history. 1. You spend 7 billion rand to develop a helicopter design and only end up building 12. (none of which are fully operational) 2. have not managed to export a single one 3. It took yall almost a decade to create, by the time it was finished the technology was already obsolete 4. It uses 20 year old computers 5. There is no support system...(many of the support manufacturers are invested in competitors.) 6. It cost $40 million each unit. More than a brand new Apachi! FAIL. http://www.engineeringnews.co.za/article/what-went-wrong-with-the-rooivalk-2007-06-08-1 |
onila: u know I am blessedyou should become a professional. |
