These figures are still preliminary and could change as more respondents complete the survey. But here's what we have so far: Forty percent of uncommitted voters who watched the debate tonight thought Barack Obama was the winner. Twenty-two percent thought John McCain won. Thirty-eight percent saw it as a draw. Forty-six percent of uncommitted voters said their opinion of Obama got better tonight. Sixty-eight percent of uncommitted voters think Obama would make the right decisions about the economy. Forty-one percent think McCain would. Forty-nine percent of these voters think Obama would make the right decisions about Iraq. Fifty-five percent think McCain would. We will have a full report on the poll later on. Uncommitted voters are those who don't yet know who they will vote for, or who have chosen a candidate but may still change their minds. http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09/26/politics/horserace/entry4482028.shtml |

All the viewer polls from all the major networks so far show that Obama won by double digits. That's not even enough for me He needs knock out punches. It'll be clearer tomorrow. |

Tayo-D: @Davidylan, My guy, are you talking about the same debate we just saw. If anyone was rude, it was Obama. See how he was just calling hin granpapa age-mate by name. Meanwhile, McCain gave him the courtesy of refering to hims as Senator Obama. And despite all the personal attacks by Obama, McCain wasn't moved at all but kept to the point.
I am sure you are dissapointed that the one you considered the lion (Obama), was thoroughly devoured by the lamb (McCain). Obama would be wishing he had never insisted on the debate tonight. Okay he called him by the name his parents gave him,big deal! what do you say about an old man that tells blatant lies? twisted statements, told half truths and was caught in them all. Yes he had his senior citizen moments albeit in a condescending ,I -know -Petreas- you -don't,I -dine -with- kissinger- you don't- sort of way. Going into a war that's costing us billions is sa strong point. Voting over 90% with Bush is a strong point. Obama ought to say it louder and more frequently. MCCain is a war monger and it's obvious. Americans should be fools to continue Bush's reign for another 4 years. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Countdown To The First Presidential Debate On Friday! by plusQueen: 4:19am On Sep 27, 2008 |
CodeRED: Mc Cain just showed America how hostile he is. Such a grumpy old man .He was so rude and disrespectful. I think Obama did very well, although I would have personally prefer him taking more shots at Mc Grumpy regarding his likeness , in terms of leadership style, to that of Baby Bush. The analysts right now are saying the same thing we're saying. He needs to tie this failing economy to Bush and McCain with a cord that cannot be broken. He should portray them as siamese twins and not agree with MCCain's point like he did tonight. Obama obviously made excellent points but McCain kept the acknowledgements to himself like the senior citizen he is. Obama has to stop the "respect" thing. This is war! Well this is the first debate. The pundits say it was a draw,we don't need draws. We need aknock out! |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Countdown To The First Presidential Debate On Friday! by plusQueen: 4:05am On Sep 27, 2008 |
Obama was just too polite. MCcain was very rude, very condescending, extremely grumpy never for once made an eye contact. He told so many lies and had them all in lipsticks,I lost count and thank God Obama caught him in all of them. Couldn't even pronounce the name of Pakistani president.
Obama should have capitalized on the Iraq spending that McCain was for and tied those billions soon to be a trillion to what's happening in our economy. I believe he missed that golden opportunity. He should have said it as many times as McCain mentioned General Petreas. He was being too respectful which may not be what he needs at this critical juncture. |

pilgrim.1: I have begged, and begged, and begged them to sign into the Forum and post their testimonies themselves, if for nothing, so that people on Nairaland will see for themselves that I was not making fictitious claims about any emails. They simply declined to do so.
All the same, I am still begging some of them, even though they are still declining. Everyone has a perculiar view on the realities of life and what they say Jesus did for them. The one thing that those two ladies (remember?) have advised me is that I should not even attempt to engage in any argument or debates with anyone. They hated it when I wasted time doing so; and reading my testimony proved to be more helpful to them. I see their point, and I would refrain from entering into any arguments with our dear Muslim friends.
Let Christ be glorified - for He is the One who is stirring the hearts of people and ultimately saving and blessing them. Here, pilgrim.1 does not matter and must decrease - and Jesus Christ must increase, for He is Lord indeed.
Bless you. I am excited y'all. wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't contain myself Please if those people are reading this including the lady that says "I almost want to be a Christian" God knows who you are. He has seen your heart but you have to be bold enough to come out.Even if you don't tell us on nairaland, tell someone and keep dialoguing with pilgrim 1 I am also available through my e-mail and could help answer any questions you may have. Also you could tell someone who you know is a Christian and I know there are people who would take you in if you needed protection for your life. Pilgrim keep sharing the word in the e-mails with them. God is doing something wonderful through this You know you can always reach me. |

davidylan*: Mr. Reindeer, i just had to find a way to log in and say BROTHER . . . WELCOME to the body of Christ and to the fellowship of the saints. The blood is never in short supply, His grace is sufficient for you.
I fear not those who can ban my ID but cannot ban my soul in hell.
Just to make you laugh a little bit, i will remind you of a man like you who could not answer so many questions but understood one important thing . . .
John 9:13They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
14And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
17They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
20His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
21But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
23Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
My brother, i was once like you . . . but as a child i had just one answer . . . whether Christ be real or not, i know not: one thing i know, once i was blind, destitute nd sick but now i see! My brother you too? Jesus remains Lord of all. I just got an email from pilgrim. The testimonies from that testimony are amazing! I have never been this excited within a 24 hr period! Wow! God is moving in a tremendous way. I wish those individuals could have the courage to post it here themselves. |

pilgrim.1: Hi Chrisbenogor, (and all who have enquired about me)
Just for the record, there was no time any of the admins banned pilgrim.1. I apologise for my reservations all day, it was because I had a crucial exams to sit today. I did, and then waited for the results - I passed, and I'm thankful to God.
When I arrived home after the exames, I was so much in high spirits that prayer and praise was the only thing that occupied me for another 4 hours. No, I'm not boasting about how much I pray or worship God; but when I finally settled to first check my email, I was in tears. Two people who I have often ignored because of their vehemence in tone had written asking questions since last night - but one of them also wrote in this morning that she had trusted Christ as her Saviour and Lord!
I was shaking all over, still in tears and wondering if to share the news with some of us on the forum. My fear was that people might feel I was making fictitious claims behind the PC screen that nobody could verify since it was my email box. But I couldn't contain myself when I saw yet another thread by reindeer testifying of the blessing he gathered from what things he read from me!! I just don't know what to do - whether to log out and go and cry for joy. . . or to stay a while and post in some threads. But in any case, please I just want it to be on record that Seun did not ban me so that people should refrain from attacking him unnecessarily.
Thank you all again. Jesus Christ changed my life - He is my Lord and Saviour! That was all what God had in mind yesterday. and this is just the beginning of what that testimony will do. The word works! |

I also tried to learn from muslims but had a prob with their approach, they love to castigate other religions while getting really 'antsy' whenever any inconsistency in their religion was pointed out. I thought i was doing great until last night when i stated reading the story by pilgrim.1, it was for me a turning point, for once in my life, i felt genuine peace', it occured to me that all my years of search was for this, for peace from someone i didnt care about but apparently he cared about me(my eyes are welling with tears again), to my dismay i came here today and alas the topic has been locked, why?because the admin thought we were getting too heated(please spare me, i have seen more heated threads still ongoing on this forum). My guesses are that either the admin had been threatened again by zealots who feel a 'loss' from someone leaving the religion or the admin is just trying to stiffle a great story of redemption.( i don't blame him, he can't feel what she must have felt and what i feel now).
so back to my question, what is islam trying to hide by stiffling any voice of dissent?why is it that a christain community can tolerate mosques while it will be inviting trouble if you preach the christian way in a muslim community(NYSC had to repost a former classmate after threats were made to his life in katsina state for succesfully converting one muslim) why why must islam resort to voilence at the slightest provocation? why is it that theres aggression whenever anything is being pointed out as incorrect in the koran?
Going by my experience out here in nairaland, id say I'm making the right decision following jesus(stil feels kind of strange saying that)instead of mohammed, id rather follow a God of peace than aggression, id rather follow love than fear and id rather spend the rest of my live in this peace that i have than keep searching.Last nights sleep was my best ever See what Jesus says in Matthew 10. For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. 21 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. 22 “ You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved. My brother it's not unusual for Christians to be hated by Muslims and all. The Bible calls them "the world" Jesus already said so. The world hated Christ too |

Hello friends. Yes I was banned for starting that thread but it may have just been for you reindeer. It was well worth it. Jesus is real and he still changes life. The strategy of the enemy is well known to us the faithful. He tries to intimidate. Christ does change lives.I know that testimony has gone out and it will bless many. Perhaps pilgrim was also banned, rampagain another nairalander on that thread was alo banned. Seun has been harassed and his life threatened by the people of the "religion of peace". We all saw the e- mail sent in the course of that discussion to pilgrim1 Jesus is love,He is Lord,He is saviour and master. The almighty. He is all in all. I have tons of testimony of his goodness. Shall I talk of my survival from a poisonous snake bite, miraculous job provisions, being in a car that lost control into the woods with no scratch, healings, vivid revelations that I saw materialize that I'll rather share personally so as not to let the unbelieving run their mouths here.
Christ does not promise that everything will be perfect but He gives you peace that no other could ever give ,even in the midst of turmoil. I have known Christ as Lord and saviour since I was a teenager and now I'm a wife and mother and I have no regrets whatsoever in being called his Child. I have an assurance of salvatiuon. I have a happy home I have well adjusted children I have a great husband,a fantastic provider. And I give all the honor, glory and dominion to God. |

mazaje: see all this people running round in circles, as for your claims about miracles why is it that all purpoted miracles are never visible? why can't god heal amputees and make their amputated body parts regenarate? why does miracle have to do with sick people most of the time? why do christains go to hospitals if miracles truly work? why are'nt people going to prayer houses for miracle? why are there so many christains in the hospitals? why does'nt god heal blind people? why can't god heal people with leprosy? why can't good heal people with visible aliments like amputation, leprosy, blindness or polio? moslems experiece miracles too don't they? hindus experiece miracles too, so do vodoo people. . . . . every body experiences miracle in one way or the other and no body can claim that his god is the only god of miracles. . . . my muslim friend just got a very big contract in a very strange way, i must confess that i was awed and astonished. . . . all the odds were against him because he submitted his application late due to his mother's bad health condition. he went and cried to his mallam and told him how badly he needed the contract. the mallam directed him on how to go about with some islamic rituals, he read some specific verses in the koran that were given to him by the mallam, offered some special prayers to allah, went and got the contract and attributed all the credit to allah. how is his story different than that of so many christains? this story that i just narrated happened on wednessday. . . . .every bopdy is giving his/her god credit for all the good things that happen to them in life. . . . there is no evidence to show that christains have their prayers answered or recieve more miracle more than moslems and vice versa. . . . . why is jehova god and not allah? what are the evidence to show that allah is not god but jehova is?. . . . . . i need real answers not empty rhetorics. . . . . . off topic. report to moderator |
