Poems For Review / A Journey Called Life by poetictwenty(m): 10:07pm On Jul 05, 2018
A JOURNEY CALLED LIFE
Like a river conquering its boundaries,
I allowed my thought to swin the turbulent ocean of mysteries,
To fish the memories that left me before my journey began
And to discover the colour of water 6ft down the mystery ocean.
I buried my fear, which was the chief of my confusion over the years;
Confusion rooted in unanswered questions ,whose answer i never wanted to hear...
Why do I believe in afterlife and still fear leaving Earth?
Why do I cry over life, when afterlife begins at death .
The Life I pray daily not to lose,
The same make me cry and watch me walk without shoes
The life I love like a palmwine that haven't seen tomorrow,
The same is the why of my sorrows.
My heart provides me with an uncomfortable truthful answer,
Which my soul rejects because of words from the preacher
Now I have arrived at a conclusion and I will search no further
"The end will always be the beginning of another"

Poems For Review / ME Alone by poetictwenty(m): 5:50pm On May 24, 2018
ME ALONE
Lost in a mind flowing with pains;
Living in a body drenched in yesteryears rains.
Hoping to see good,with eyes that have lost ocean of sorrowful water
Fearlessly, I embrace Eachday, with a stomach that hungers.

I have lived this way, because it's just me,on my journey;
Just me on this path, where the sun is not Sunny.
Nobody See's the tears hidden in my smiles;
Even if they do, they would close their Eyes.
None could hear the screaming in my laughter;
Some that did, turn to become my mocker.
Army of worries charge at me, hoping to take my breath,
But, I have nothing to defend my dying heart.
Words of friends has become arrows rather than my shield.
It seems it's ME ALONE on Earth's battle field.

Poems For Review / Poor's World by poetictwenty(m): 9:34am On Apr 11, 2018
The poor's world
I wasn't born with a silver spoon,
On my birth,threewisemen weren't led by the moon.
I was that poor kid in the neighborhood,
Who ran around naked even when cold.
Each morning my peers head to school...
While I arrange my Hawking tool.
I was a friend to hunger;
To my peers : A beggar.
Even my relations despised me,
To them,nothing good can come from me.
Some parents believed I was cursed by nature,
They called me a child without a future,
My self esteem was drained,
My heart : pained.
I was just a poor child in need,
But the world was unwilling to feed,
I was a child not to be...
But deep in me, dreams lived.
That little helping hand you give,
Can be all someone needs to live.

Poems For Review / Lost Soul by poetictwenty(m): 8:51am On Apr 11, 2018
LOST SOUL
For long, i ran from the wars in my heart,
Thinking peace lives in roofs where nothing falls apart.
I closed my mind to knowledge of life's mystery,
Believing ignorance will quell my fears till I become history.
I lived believing that I was born to die
And what becomes of me after death,is vetoed by a most high.
I was just a lost soul roaming planet earth;
A lost soul waiting to be embraced by the cold hands of death.
Sometimes,I drown in my thought trying to find answers to why humans die;
Why I have to lay motionless watching my love ones cry?
Why I have to cause my mother pain during my birth,
Only to leave her crying by my grave because of death?
The more I try to know,the more i become lost.
Funnily enough, I know nothing of my life's past;
Nothing, not even knowledge of scenarios during my birth.
Seems I'm just a lost soul on planet Earth!

Poems For Review / Adamma by poetictwenty(m): 8:36am On Apr 11, 2018
ADAMMA
Adamma!
your name in my mouth is like a kolanut in elders mouth,
Your voice reminds me of the great melodies of "Ikoro";
When it sounds: all ears are brought out
And all feet move in honour of our heroes.
Adamma!
Your kernel-oil skin mirrors the sun...
Making the moon wish it wasn't born.
You queen the city of beauty
Making other girls look filthy.
Adamma!
Because of you,gathering of men has become tales of moonlight;
Sounding your beauty like "ogene" from morning till night.
I will woo you like happy bees on honeyhives...
And for your sake,i can face warriors with thousand knives.
Adamma!
You look just like a palmwine that hasn't seen tomorrow...
And i know you're sweeter than kolanut:the honey of "Ezemmou".
The day you were born, the gods gathered for a feast...
Making it as blessed as new yam festival of the East.
Adamma!
I lost a rib the minute you were born;
Little wonder all about you turns me on.
I believed in destiny the day we met in Eke market...
You were like "Agbogor Njeje":the beauty of masquerades

Poems For Review / Tormented Soul by poetictwenty(m): 8:22am On Apr 11, 2018
Tormented soul
Day by day, my voice breaks with songs of sorrow,
Recounting the punches that pierce my bone marrow.
My heart bleeds of pains from forces too strong;
Forces that I can't remember how I wrong(ed).
I cry for help but non seem to care,
I try to be strong,but the pain is much to bear.
I prayed,but the gods gave me a deaf ear.
Now I'm scared trying to face my fears.
Daily,I became angry over things I can't change;
Things that won't change even when I come of age.
I pray I don't end this pains with a rope,
Because,I'm lost in the universe without hope.
I wish I can see the end of this song of sorrow;
If not today, maybe, someday tomorrow.
