ACN has no root — Adesina

By Friday Olokor

Mr. Samuel Adesina is the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly. In this interview with FRIDAY OLOKOR, he draws a comparison between ex-Governor Olusegun Agagu and the incumbent Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

What have been your experiences since you became Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly?

I am grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to serve my people. I also appreciate my colleagues for giving me the opportunity to lead them in the House. I became the Speaker April 8, 2010 and everything in the House has changed tremendously and positively to meet the standard of perfect democracy and good administration.

You were in the House during the administration of ex-Governor Olusegun Agagu and now Speaker in the government of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko. Can you give a comparison between the two?

Let me make one clarification: I was never a Speaker during Agagu’s administration but just a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly. Dr. Olusegun Agagu is an academician and a theorist. He is a perfect man as far as theory and academics are concerned. He would have been extraordinarily useful if he returns to the classroom as a lecturer because he has the knowledge, wisdom and endowment of imparting knowledge into people. But he is not a good administrator. But for Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, even though he trained as a medical doctor, he is an administrator, a democrat and a revolutionary who is committed to the development of the people and the state.

How is the Labour Party and the government of Mimiko going to face the challenge of the Action Congress of Nigeria and its leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the governorship election scheduled for next year in Ondo State?

All politicians and political parties are always ambitious; even though they may not have more than one quarter of the majority votes, they will tell people that they have more than 100 per cent. The ACN is a party that has no root, no manifesto, no mission and vision and it’s just like the amphibious plant in the sea which has no fibrous root; it only has a tap root. It only spreads on the sea and you will think they have occupied the whole sea. But a little movement of the waves will clear them off. That is my description of the ACN in Ondo State.

But don’t you think there is need for the LP and ACN to come together since they may be pursuing the same political ideology?

I want to thank you for using the expression that they may be pursuing the same ideology. But I will say no; Ondo State is very distinct from other states and it will not dance to the tune of any hypocrite. We know the right thing to do at every point in time.

What is the relationship between Mimiko and the workers, since the government said it could only pay N14,000 as minimum wage?

It is very cordial; the minimum wage controversy has been resolved.

Silly dullard. If you are not a bigot why only talk about the SW and the ACN all the time ? SS, SE, NE NW et al don't exist anymore? Or is that , to you, nothing newsworthy happens in those region and you only ever get "excited" at the mention of "Yoruba" and "ACN"? Anyway , I suppose the folks of the SW should be flattered. They must be doing something right for the level of attention you and others focus on them.

If you look around Nairaland you will not see balanced posters focusing obdurately on one region and one group of people as if that is all Nigeria consist of. It becomes even more comical when your arguments are always half-backed , revisionist and easily debunked . Your agenda of mischief is crystal clear. it is rare to see you start a thread or say two words that does not involve a Yoruba person or the ACN. Keep wasting your time .
Whatever tickles your fancy, pathetic little man!

^^^Part of what the guy said is true, especially the kind of politics his people play. Example abound in the sale of Abiola to the Northerners by some of their leaders, Tinubu also sold his own to Tambuwal. Secondly, he also has a point with the way the North view them, they are just using them to achieve their political goals. These people will suffer seriously should Nigeria break up, there will be serious crisis in the SW.

But we do not want Federalism, what we need is division of the country, we are not the same people. Punto
lol. the bolded can be interpreted as this: My name is Asiwaju Party (ACN) of Nigeria, make me an offer I cannot refuse!    grin grin grin grin grin grin

@Gbawe,
continue following me up and down like a follower on twitter. All your attempt to malign me will come to naught. The tread we are discussing here was a report by Punch Newspaper. I did not edit it in anyway, it is not my duty to report what GEJ said or did not say in 2010 while on campaign train. The bottomline of this tread is that an Ekiti Rep categorically said SNC is 'unconstitutional'; ACN was not mentioned in the report nor in my initial post. But due to your unconscionable passionate ambition to derail any post of mine, you have come up with this tongue in the cheek conspiracy theory - that this post is anti-SW.  And has also successfully link the Rep to ACN - wonderful.

Seriously, are you reasoning with your anus? Why is the Rep guy a rep? To megaphone the voice of the executive or to represent the voice of his people? I have an idea, the guy is simply one of those rubber stamp (now that you have confirmed it) ACN reps running amok at the nationally assembly with no idea of their own, nor of ACN's ideology, nor interest of their people at heart. Otherwise, regardless of what GEJ says, does he not have a clear idea of the need of his own people? Is it not his job and duty to articulate such. What kind of people do we have as Reps these days (yes from SW, since that appeals to you ethic bigotry)? A dime a dozen?

Gbawe, you fall my hand seriously here, one expect much more reasonable position from you. But your hyper-inflated pea-sized brain, sparsely populated with gray matter will rather tether on the familiar position of ethnic championship, and usual ACN a$$ licking act to attack to messenger, ignoring the message. I may be clown, but it will be an insult to stewpid people to call you stewpid, you are worse than that.

Have my middle-finger for all I care (of cos I need to interprete that for you - 4q!). Go get a life or get laid, quit following me around like a pest; by the way I am straight!

Foreign AffairsRe: Ghana's Tv Businesses Race Towards Digital Switchover by PointB: 4:13am On Aug 20, 2011
The Federal Government has set June 17 and later December 31, 2012 as switchover date for the transition of analogue to digital Television Broadcasting, three years ahead of the International Telephone Union's (ITU), of which Nigeria is a member and signatory, deadline of 2015 (UHF) and 2020 (VHF) for full transition worldwide.

This is coming on the heels of similar 'self set' deadlines of mostly European and African countries like Britain, Sweden, France, Kenya and South Africa among others.

Good point, provided you can show that your child/ward is being educated. But dont forget the very critical thing - Certificates! If your child does not have approved certificate to proof all that you have thought him privately are mastered, then you might have to employee him yourself or turn him into employer. Exotic education is good, but dont underestimate the value of 'formal' education.

Providing better teaching and education under your own roof and bringing the child to common entrance exams to beat and impress his less-trained colleagues.

Done everywhere in the world. Illegal in Imo state, Nigeria.

If i choose to get my kid a private tutor, your governor says that would be a crime.

At the end of the day, its a personal choice.
I believe private tutoring is a compliment to the educational system in Nigeria. It is not a substitute. But that said, I dont know if will be illegal in Imo state under the new policy. But why would you choose to isolate your child when you know that child education is not just book knowledge?
