ralphelo: How many shares or equity did Nigeria government has in your company? Shell business in Nigeria is a joint venture business or production sharing. Nigeria government owned large equity of 55% . They approved and regulate virtually all parts of the business. You have to verify this claim. The Dutch owns shell. If your claim is right, then shell ceases to be a private organisation. |

Bro I work in a multinational and in my set, no single Northerner was recruited. 4 Igbos, 2 Edo, 2 Yoruba and 1 South South. |

ralphelo: Who told you Nigeria quota doesn't exist? The asset shell is recruiting for, belongs to Nigeria government, shell is just an operator. You will see young talented Nigerians from different regions of the country in the program. Shell must obey all the local laws pertaining to the business. Those who believe in quota system are in NNPC. Shelll is a performance-driven organisation. You cannot go there with quota system mindset. |

ExpertNLer: Not a flat rate. It will be a range, ofcourse you don't expect HR to be on the same amount of money as Engineering. There will be difference in pay depending on how technical/risky the position is But it seems Engineers are given preferences I.e Shell employ more Engineers. Some of us that studied sciences should just zero our mind. |

Just that the opportunities are not as much vs traditional engineering Only life sciences (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Zoology) are employed by DPR as Environmentalists. Any graduate can be trained and employed in Supply Chain and Logistics. NNPC also employed graduates of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry and Biology in their Pollution Control and Quality Assurance division. |

dayo1401: Boy...you wanna know the truth....Biochemistry wont get you ur oil job...and forget this oil job u re talking about....you must have a career first before talking about oil...say forget you are an accountant..or biz analyst..or finance analyst..or hr professional..
but in your own case..you are a biochemist..oil companies dont need biochemist..thats the truth...( i am talking from experience..i have bsc in biochemistry just like you ok)...
look at it this way..its all about competition...where will you be able to compete and compete well...risk management hello no...someone with MBA with beat you to it...
off shore technology..what is that..what will you be working as...where off shore...on the rig>.thats the question...will you be able to compete with someone that read pipeline engineering ...??..remember its all about competition..unless you know someone
my advice..if you dont intend on being a lecturer...forget your biochemist ...if you want to be a lecturer..pursue your phd in biochemistry..you can compete well...cos u ve phd in ur field...otherwise...pursue and MBA..after that you can tailor it to whatever you want....e.g...do IT..mayb oracle/sap/ traing..and compete as a IT analyst/ manager/ it project manager/it business analyst....or you tailor or MBA to project management..do pmp/prince2..or tailor it to to anything you feel relevant or wanted....or maybe even risk as you rightly spotted...a certification in risk management wil do..with your MBA degree..you can compete as a risk manager..your biochemistry background can b overlooked
its all very simple...there is a lot of competition..ensure you stand out...by the way..make sure you grad with a distinction so you can compete..remember you are coming from norway..which isnt uk or us...there is alot of competition..
forget oil companies for now...tailor your career...come home take any job to build experience...tight it up with certification..and about 5 yrs experience..then you can face oil companiyes..
BIOCHEMISTY IS A RUBBISH DEGREE...(by the way i now work as a project manager...did a msc degree IT management from a leading university in the uk) You are wrong. Shell employs Biochemists in the Technical business area of Innovation, Research and Development. It is clearly stated. In fact with the 2050 target for Zero carbon, they highly needed. Additionally, any graduate can be trained for Downstream Commercial sector especially in Supply Chain and Logistics. |

What you may be lacking is team working skills and interpersonal relationship skills. People's behaviour should not affect your productivity unless they deliberately sabotage your effort.

Goodluck has been winning all his life until Reno happened to him. His advice was the reason Jonathan failed. Atiku/Obi could have won in 2019 but Reno was in their camp. Rejoice if Reno is against you. He is highly illogical and I keep wondering how he became famous. Reno is like a man who takes a taxi and tells you how taxi is the best means of transportation. And even if you are planning on leaving it should be to experienced roles but you know what best suits you i guess. I pray you get it anyway so others here will have a chance on your previous job. Amen! The truth is that the remuneration may even be close to Shell. However, in career, don't allow yourself to get trapped in one place for long. I have seen my seniors spend over six years in a job role. It is not good in a CV. It is a sign of poor performance. Additionally, Shell is a big brand. They employ the best of the best. Career › Re: Which Is Better, Pharmacy Or Civil Engineering? by Polchiz(m): 3:52pm On Jul 23, 2022 |
KunleyY19: First of all you must be very brilliant to be able to have the two options on your table. That's a plus to you. But if you do some critical soul searching you will find the aspect of science you feel more comfortable with. A potential Civil Engineering Student should be comfortable with Physics, Further Mathematics, Technical drawing and the likes. While for a Pharmacy student you should be really good with Biology and Chemistry and Mathematics. Fine you might have passed all of this courses in secondary school but I will advise you to pick the one that comes more natural to you.
Now the worst assumption anyone can give you is that Engineering is not worth it in Nigeria . That's a big lie, some Engineering might not be worth it but trust me Civil Engineering is worth it if you are well grounded in school. I have friends in my class that currently have cars and all came from executing projects whilst we are still UG's. Emphasis on the word knowledgeable. The thing with Engineering is that most students don't realize theirselves until after two years of graduation. But person wey don grab since UG will be making it well. Well I don't know the opportunities that are abound for pharmacy students. I can only speak about Civil. With Civil Engineering you're spoilt of choices. Well I will still advice you to do some deep soul searching and choose the one that comes easy to you simple. But if you must do Civil Engineering you must be ready to sacrifice you all because incompetence is not rewarded in Engineering and we cannot cover our own mistakes like those in the medical line. To stay ahead of thousands of Civil Engineers currently you have to bring your A game to succeed. And also study Civil Engineering with an Entrepreneurship mindset if not you might end up building people houses and not have one for yourself. Good luck. You are as wise as Solomon. God bless you richly. |

Gloaz10: Please stop explaining this. If you didn't put yours and others did. It has no impact on your selection or rejection
Infact GPA is what most companies use for this selection.
What we should be talking about is how to get to the next stage.
This recruitment is quite competitive. A job openings that hundred thousands will apply and only 50 will be recruited is not a child's play.
Anything you can put to give you an edge, please put. If you have a high GPA, Please put too. You earned it in a hard way okay.
Lastly, if your application is showing "assessment in progress" be happy because you are still in the race and you may likely move to the next assessment stage which is the cognitive assessment. If they employ up to 50, then we are lucky. In my present job, only 8 of us were employed out of thousands of applicants. |
