PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Deeply Divided - UN Report by Polyglot7pointO: 9:54am On Sep 05, 2016
Part of the report read: “Nigeria is one of the poorest and most unequal countries in the world, with over 80 million or 64 per cent of her population living below poverty line. “Poverty and hunger have remained high in rural areas, remote communities and among female-headed households and these cut across the six geo-political zones, with prevalence ranging from approximately 46.9 per cent in the South-west to 74.3 per cent in North-west and North-east.

“Nigeria’s economy is currently in a recession and it is estimated that government revenues have fallen by as much as 33 per cent, which has further resulted in the contraction of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 0.36 per cent in the first three months of 2016.
timosky1:
The UN has described Nigeria as a “divided society on the basis of the plurality of ethnic, religious and regional identities that had tended to define the country’s political existence.”

AND SOMEONE SAID LIVING ABROAD IS WORSE MORE THAN LIVING IN NIGERIA..FYI WHERE EVER A MAN FINDS PEACE AND COMFORT BECOMES HIS PLACE OF ABODE!!!THINK IF YOU WILL!

This was made known to the public during a consultative meeting on the formulation of the UN Development Assistance Framework IV (UNDAF IV) for the South-East geo-political zone in Awka.

The report noted that for decades, different segments of Nigeria’s population had, at different times, expressed feelings of marginalisation, of being short-changed, dominated, oppressed, threatened, or even targeted for elimination.

The report also painted a gloomy picture for the country as most of the development and social indices in Nigeria recorded much below acceptable standards.

It noted that the major challenges facing Nigeria were constraints of economic growth and social development and lack of good governance.

“The vulnerable macroeconomic environment in Nigeria is affecting investors’ confidence in the domestic economy.” The report also revealed widespread cases of violence against women and girls, including physical and sexual assault, even as it noted that 42 per cent of Nigerian youths were unemployed. “Nigeria faces humanitarian and emergency crises of considerable proportions fueled by a combination of factors including climate change, inter-communal conflicts and violence, insurgency, recurring floods, heavy handed tactics of security forces in combating crime and insurgency.

“The overall consequence is the situation of systematic and chronic internal displacement that has given rise to different humanitarian crises that include the most egregious and dehumanising human rights abuses,” the report stated. The report however noted that transforming and diversifying Nigeria’s development paths needed a radical and new approach.

It recommended investing in people and in a strong more dynamic and inclusive productive informal sector.

Last week, the UN regional humanitarian coordinator, Toby Lanzer rated the growing humanitarian crisis in Borno as being at level with that of war-torn regions across the world. Lanzer gave the sad rating during a visit to Bama, the largest Borno town to come under the siege of the Islamist militant sect, Boko Haram.

“Having worked in Darfur, Chechnya, and South Sudan, this is about as bad as it gets,” Lanzer was quoted as saying. Meanwhile, the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund has warned that if timely aid is not availed, 49,000 children will lose their lives in Nigeria’s North-east region.

There was a mild drama at the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Presidential Election which was held yesterday at the Old Parade Ground Abuja. Some policemen were seen beating and hitting a delegate at the convention over alleged misconduct....

Meanwhile, Comrade Aruna Kadiri has reportedly emerged as the President Elect, of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

my bro uvie..u av spoken well..but is not always about the cush u know...if u cut ur coat according to ur size if u know wat i mean u will live ok but not well within ur means..secondly there are factors ,i mean too many factors mitigating against living well in nigeria..food is cheap abraod and u av alot of options to buy ..ask me about any con3 in europe and i will answer correctly..lets not even talk abt the king of dem all USA..no light, road,u av the fuel but u cant afford how much is a litre of fuel in europe?if u pay for all dis things and u get dem u will be able to think straight..nigerians are behaving like sociopaths becuz they harbor anger inside, dont fault them they know what is good, labor hard to get it but the govt keeping pushing it further away from them..let me not talk too much now but i will answer ur questions if u address them nicely without insults..living abroad is tough especially if u want to av class or meet up with high ends peers..but on the other hand even if u earn 300k a month in nja u will still look unkept/stressed cuz of the things lacking in the society..dont deceive ursef u can never compare living abroad with living in nja..sometimes i miss nja but wen i come i get tired already after 3weeks..i feel av overstayed my welcome..ur govt officials travel abroad see good things ,know good things but cant replicate it..all snakes crawl but u dont know which has stomach upset..let whoever has the means to travel travel..but never travel without a motive and a just mindset my advice.
Barcholder:
Before heading off to the UK, please ask him how much the following things are in the UK:

1. Rent
2. Food
3. Fuel
4. Travel
5. Electricity
6. Water
7. Telephone

Next, ask him to deduct the cost of these from his salary, and then see whether there's anything left. In fact, ask him whether that money he's calling is enough to cover these costs in the first place, nevermind what's left.

The grass is not always greener on the other side. I'm from the UK, trust me, I know what I'm saying. If you think that people are not suffering in the UK too, then go over there for 2 years. I'm willing to bet that you would be begging to come back to Nigeria. As crazy as that may sound to you right now, I'm very certain that I'm 100% right.

Regards

Uvie

PoliticsRe: #edodecides: Apc, Apga & Pdp Make A Case For Why They Should Govern Edo (live) by Polyglot7pointO: 7:14am On Sep 05, 2016
Edo be wise. Vote for the right reasons not because of your own selfish interest. i would very much prefer Ize-iyamu because there is great power in political opposition. If he wins that is the only way the actual truth of oshiomole's administration would come out. Take for example oshiomole abadoned a state university to build what he called a joint partnership university where the joint investors who are currently invincible own a larger percent share mean while because of lack of funding several department have been deaccredited in AAU the state own university.
standfit5:
Wld u prefer Igbinedion and Anenih, comparing what Oshio has done within same period? Its challenging for Oshio cuz there was no past ground for him to walk on,he virtually had to fight... he is gathering momentum to build a sail for APC like Aneneh n Igbinedion's party have done for POI. But Edo can never forget in a hurry what PDP did to Edo state

OH BOY U DEY HERE DEY MODERATE..WELL DATS COOL..BUT AV U ASKED URSEF HOW THE AVERAGE VOTER IN EDO PERCEIVE THINGS??DONT CRY FOWL OR BE TOO REALISTIC IT NEVER HAS WORKED IN POLITICS LET ALONE DIS OUR DEMOMADNESS..APC ROSE TO POWER BY ANTAGONIZING PDP..NEVER 4GET DAT IN A RUSH AND PEOPLE BOUGHT IT AND VOTED FOR THEM..IF U SAY IS WHAT IZE IYAMU IS DOING WHY DONT U THEN ACCEPT OR BELIEVE HE HAS WON?WITH ALL DUE RESPECT U SOUNDING LIKE A VICTIM..PLS DONT LET THE BEST MAN WIN.AM VERY NEUTRAL AM NOT 4 OR AGAINST ANY PARTY AM JUZ OBSERVING AND WILL SAY FACTS WHEN I SEE ONE.
mickool:
Ize iyamu is attacking Obaseki with venoms. Indeed, ize iyamu just exposed himself top then whole that he didn't know anything about finances. He thinks by telling lies he get at Obaseki. Obaseki is a gentle man to the core. He analysise issues with facts unlike ize iyamu who is antagonistic.
