mrjojo: I still wonder what they will be selling in that mall. The mall will likely be a waste of resources because low patronage due to poor purchasing power of ebonyi people will just close it down. 1 Like |

Politics / Police Parade 35 Robbery Suspects, Others In Enugu by PortHarcourt1st: 4:05pm On Sep 18, 2020 |
Police parade 35 robbery suspects, others in Enugu About 35 suspected armed robbers arrested in different parts of Enugu State have been paraded in Enugu by the police. Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, Mr. Nwodibo Ekechukwu, described the arrest as “a harvest of criminals”. Other criminals, including murderers, kidnappers, cultists and fraudsters were also paraded at the headquarters of the Enugu State Police Command. The armed robbery suspects include a gang that hijacked a truck loaded with asbestos, valued at the sum of N3.7m, on February 12 at Ugwuoba, along the Enugu-Onitsha expressway. Ekechukwu told journalists the hijacked asbestos belonged to one Emmanuel Ozongwu, from Anambra State. The robbery suspects are Okafor Friday, 28, from Cross River State; Nzube Ndubuaku, 24, from Anambra State; Emeka Ikwu from Imo State; and Friday Nwafor (alias One Man Squad) from Ebonyi State. The Police commissioner said a locally-made pistol was recovered from the suspects when they were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad at Nachi, in the Udi area of Enugu on February 24. An armed robbery suspect, Ugwuanyi Onyema, 22, from Enugu-Ezike, in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu, was arrested when he made attempts to rob one Mammah Chukwuemeka, while armed with a machete and a mask, on February 19. Kenneth Okunka, 20, from Ebonyi State, who was also paraded for armed robbery, was arrested for snatching a motorcycle along the Enugu-Onitsha expressway on January 28. In the same vein, Chibuike Nnamani, 30, from Emene, Enugu State, was nabbed for robbing one Judith Lazarus at gunpoint at a store in the Abakpa-Nike area of Enugu. Also paraded for armed robbery was Chukwu Gabriel, 23, who, alongside others currently at large, robbed one Onyekachi Mammah at gunpoint at Coal Camp, Enugu, collecting the sum of N86,000 and a Nokia handset valued at N15,000. Friday Nwachukwu, from Ebonyi State, was arrested for robbing, at gunpoint, one Ngbede Obiano, from whom he collected the sum of N60, 000 at Otigba junction on January 13. Nwachukwu was subsequently apprehended in the Ogui area of Enugu on January 21. Apart from the 35 armed robbery suspects, other criminals paraded included a gang of kidnappers comprising Emenike Onoyima, 27; Jude Mammah, 22; and Mba Chinedu, 25, all from the Udenu area of Enugu. The gang members, who are held for kidnapping and murder, allegedly kidnapped one Mrs Makata Elochukwu, and her driver, one Bernard Ameh, on February 3, in Nsukka. The corpse of the driver, Ameh, was found in their hideout at Obollo-Afor, when police operatives arrested them, and freed Mrs Elochukwu on February 7. Ekechukwu warned that criminal would not be tolerated in Enugu, noting that the Command was working towards reducing the crime rate in the state to the barest minimum. He added that the suspects would be arraigned in court very soon. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/police-parade-35-robbery-suspects-others-in-enugu/%3famp=1 |
