Hallo Karen,

Thank you very much. I got your email request, I will keep in touch.

Please don't let your hubby rush to get the TB cert as it has a 3 month validity.

You will be able to pay for the application and nhs surcharge, just log on to his account and effect payment with your credit card.

No, I haven't bought ticket yet, I will soon, I am giving one month notice at work first.

All the best with your application.

Warm Regards

Ok great yes, i will do that then wink

I told hubby to get this in October, and told him to travel to his university to get his documents from when he graduated too.

My husbands uncle was very impressed with my file, I have done a table of contents for the whole folder and all in date order, including our pictures, i done a spreadsheet with all the data from my pay slips, kinda at a glance thing, before the actual payslips, its just a matter of adding all the upto date payslips and bank statements now smiley

This is a good price I would say, I personally wouldnt go with the Middle Eastern airlines, because the travel times are too damn long, dont be afraid to check out the european airlines these can also be quite cheap, such as Iberia, KLM , Air France

Hello Everyone,

I really thank God. It's Yay time again grin The visa has come. grin I am really happy I discovered this forum‎. It guided me while I was putting documents together for submission and answered questions I had even after submission. I am particularly grateful to Justwise, Kazan and Girlfio cool for the suggestions then Karen (Portsmouth86) for crossing fingers and toes for me smiley.

Here is my timeline, it took more time than usual but that's because I had a setback so don't be discouraged.‎

March 23rd: I did the chest Xray for TB test then online submission‎

March 24th: ‎I was supposed to pick up the TB certificate and go for biometrics. Because I don't live in Lagos, I took 2 days off so that I could do the Xray, collect the certificate the next day then go on to submit passport and do biometrics but when I went to pick up the certificate, I was told that the Xray was abnormal, they said it was probably because I had pneumonia in 2013 and I had cough when I did the Xray, so I was told that I couldn't get a certificate as they don't work with maybes so they said they'd book me for sputum test, I had to come and cough and give them sample for 3 consecutive mornings and wait for 8 weeks atleast for the result (I couldn't believe my ears sad) but I had no choice so I did it, the result came out almost 9 weeks later so I picked it up and did biometrics on the 11th of June so I lost almost 3 months between online submission and biometrics, I had to keep going online to move my submission date so that my application will still be valid and because of the wait, I fell into the health surcharge period so I paid that as well.

June 11th: Submission, Biometrics and Skype interview‎

June ‎24th: Supporting documents sent to Sheffield

June 25th: We tracked the documents and we saw they had been delivered but I thought I was going to get an email confirming that they had received them. (it was at this point that Karen was crossing fingers and toes for me) It never came so I guess they don't acknowledge it‎

July 23rd: Hubby was called for interview

July 28th: Hubby had the interview‎ and when he asked the interviewer when we were likely to know the outcome, he told him 2 weeks that this is a busy period for them.

August 10th: I got ‎an email from Sheffield saying they had made a decision and that I'd get the passport within 3-5 work days

August 13th: I got 2 emails from Teleperformance, one in the morning saying a decision had been made that I will be contacted when they receive my passport. The second email came in the evening‎ stating that they had my passport so I should come and pick up.

August 17: I picked up the passport and it had Visa that had been issued on 31/07/2015. Yayyyy‎ grin grin

I am very happy and I am glad for all the feedback I got on this forum, what justwise has done here is highly commendable, not only did he create the thread but he constantly checks and assists people. Well done.

What I have to add is that everybody's ‎case is different. I didn't do the English test, we didn't have call log, o‎nly email history (lots of it) and BBM chat (just a few recent chats), because we had both changed phones severally we didn't have the old chats anymore. We are both busy at work during the day so we don't speak but we send loads of email then we Skype or do BBM call in the evening, we didn't print out the Skype but we had tickets and hotel reservations for holidays we took together, (3 holidays in total) so that and the email log was what we used as evidence of communication plus Hubby has been to Nigeria 4 times this year and about the same last year so we added the stamped pages of his passport showing the visits. Also a friend of mine was denied settlement Visa last month and one of the reasons is that she didn't state she knew her husband the 2 times she applied for visit visa but her records show that they had met as at that time. I fall into that category but they still gave me the visa...Thank God. Yaaay. The point is if you feel you are lacking in one area, do an overload of the one you have to prove that you have that area covered.

If anyone has any questions, I'd be more than happy to assist.

Thank you everyone once more, Nandos crew, are new members still welcome

Wow

God bless you sista amazing news yay. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Im gathering all my final documents now, hubby applying in November, I have told him to get his TB cert.

He is also getting a criminal record check with the police, so that he can work in security here once he arrives and does the relevant tests for his licence, this is not for immigration though, but told him is a good idea, luckily i know many people in the security industry here and they enquired for me wink

I am looking to pay for his application fees and the nhs surcharges on my credit card, so im hoping i can login to his acc and pay the fees

Have you got your ticket? Would be lovely to keep in contact smiley

Stay blessed, Kind regards

Karen

A true chef always tastes their cooking before serving

If in a restaurant, you just taste it with a fresh spoon and wash it, do not then put it back into the pot, but for your wife/husband to be tasting the food...why the hell not? I always taste my own cooking to make sure there is not too much salt etc, of course if i had guests I wouldn't put the spoon back into the pot.

I agree on the spoon left on the pot for long periods without washing it though smiley

all the other points I agree smiley

Your husband must be proud of you, because you think right, personally i think what they watch on TV's got a role to play , they come into relationship to offer only sex & collect money with gifts, nothing else to contribute.. I don't know if is like this in UK or western world entirely

Of course you get that here, but those women that do don't go far in life, some women are pure lazy and expect the man to do everything.

What happened to dating, the getting to know someone before taking the next step? Its a sad reality of today's society, social media don't help matters, people having the need to big themselves up to follow trends.

@ Portsmouth86

I agree with you 100% but were still focusing on majority of our girl & their philosophy

From what I have observed its the way guys are towards women in Nigeria, majority see a woman as a trophy rather than the woman she is, maybe guys shouldn't be seen as 'buying' affection from a woman with gifts etc, true women will like her man whether he has wealth or not, as Nelson Mandela once said: Money won't create success, the freedom to make it will.

My own favorite quote is :Don't be a woman that needs a man...Be a woman a man needs
Romance / Re: Enough!!! Is Time For Girls To Start Bashing Boys by Portsmouth86(f): 1:22am On Aug 09, 2015
I think this is a bit over the top, not all women are like that, I am 28 myself, I started my first job at the age of 15 in a supermarket on the weekends and after school, I have worked ever since.

At one point I worked 3 jobs, 10pm-6am Sun-Fri in one job, then 7am till 9am Mon-Fri in another then another job on Friday nights, only having Saturday off, continuing that for approx 2 years.

I left home at 17, after having a tough upbringing yet still I working hard, then moved into my own rented room within a shared house, always independent.

Put myself through my driving lessons, traveled to a few countries, Albania, Turkey and Nigeria, and always bought everything I own with my own hard work, went to college on my own back... I have never in my life relied on anyone other than myself.

Now I work for one of the worlds biggest bluechip financial institutions for which I have been working for 9 years, working my way up through drive and ambition, without top grades in school or college, I was always more a work minded woman, but I still succeeded.

I recently got married to my wonderful husband, who is 32, he is Nigerian, I am white British, some may think that its a rich life in UK but its not all a bed of roses, yet I got on with it and made something of myself despite my own background and upbringing.

Now its time for me to share my life with another person, whilst still maintaining some of my own independence, nothing confusing about that.

I think I've now said my piece, so please don't tar all women with the same brush, there are many respectable and hard working women out there including in Nigeria.

wink

The review on Iberia is very discouraging but i checked Qatar and Lufthansa review and its almost the same thing meanwhile i know Qatar to be a good airline.

I think i will rather pay extra and fly with Lufthansa or Air France cos i might need to change my return date.

you can change your return on any airline dependent on the ticket you buy, you just need to make sure you select the flexible economy, bare in mind all airlines impose penalties for any changes, I book flights and deal with exchanges on a daily basis, Business and first class are the only tickets that only allow one change without penalty.

Also don't assume if you purchase a non flexible on your outbound flight but a flexible on the return, that you can change a flight, since the most restrictive airline rules applies, so make sure both segments are flexible.

I hope this helps smiley

I also got the mail from GTB, i beg who know Iberia oooo. I no wan because of few Naira difference go enter one chance. grin

Iberia are a Spanish airline which has merged with British airways, they are not the best airline in line with the planes of BA or that of virgin.

Its more the cost, Iberia offer really low priced flights compared to many other airlines...but far better than Arik air,

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews7871.html

the reviews are not great, but i know people who have used them and said it was fine, just not to expect a service which Virgin/BA offer

I personally Live in the UK and each time I want to come to Nigeria to see my hubby I pay approx £800 for my flight and then pay about £300 for my own visa (on each visit) , so in all I need £1100 before I start, so of course when I saw that with Iberia, my flight and visa would be less than buying just a flight ticket with Virgin, its a no brainer for me

its definitely worth giving them a go, what have you to lose? Depending on the flight you choose you can get really good connection times too.

Why must he show that he can take care of the wife? Why can't it be the reverse? Why can't it be collaborative? Do you know that the more educated and greater the earnings of the bride to be are, the greater the bride price.

The bride price is purely an ancient customary tradition where women are bargained off to the highest bidder and are commodities. Accept it or don't accept it, that is what it is.

Of course women could show that she can also provide for the marriage, I never stipulated she couldn't.

Why is this all in favor of the woman, feminism this and that yet what about Masculism? The mans right, since both men and women are supposed to be equal.

neither a woman or a man is a product, in some cultures the man has to provide items for the brides family prior to marriage, which I am sure the man is aware of, I see it as showing the prospective in-laws that the man is able to provide for their daughter, or am I wrong?

To ask for a refund, a refund for what? that is crazy you can only get a refund on something which is purchased, so those whom request a refund for a bride ...you bought your wife?

meaning of refund:
To pay back (money), typically to a customer who is not satisfied with goods or services bought.
example: "if you're not delighted with your purchase, we guarantee to refund your money in full"

I think communication is key in any marriage, tell him how you feel, women can give the cold shoulder if hubby is not showing her attention, that's a bad move, since your husband will feel rejection, hints wont work, sit down and talk smiley

Marriage is a two way road and both husband and wife must make it a priority to keep the spark in their marriage ignited. Remember when you got butterflies the first time you met eyes with your spouse? The first time that you told each other, "I love you!"

Just because you're married doesn't mean you can't flirt with your spouse and still court them. Tell them how much you love them or how attractive they look. Drop a pick-up line or two. "Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?" Ha - okay, it may sound corny but your spouse will appreciate your efforts or above all else get a good laugh.

Never let the sparks die out. Take your spouse out for a date and if possible set up a date night schedule. This will allow you to have quality time together and reconnect after a hectic week. Having alone time will help you appreciate each other and unwind from everyday stress.

Make sure that your spouse knows that they are a priority in your life and not just another person in a schedule or scenario. They are important and life wouldn't be the same without them - make sure that they are aware of that! Don't assume!

Make time for each other. It's very hard when you have children to get away but remember that without your marriage you would not have the foundation of your family, Keep in mind that your marriage is just as important as your children. You're setting the example for your kids when it comes to good/bad relationships.

That is my view on marriage and how to keep it alive.
