Politics / Pro-buhari Group Dares Atiku To Visit US, Offers Him First-class Return Ticket by poscabafash: 10:51am On Dec 06, 2018
A Buhari support group, The No Alternative to Buhari-Osinbajo 2019, otherwise known as NATBuhariOsinbajo 2019, has offered to procure a first class return ticket for People’s Democratic Party, PDP, flag bearer and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar in any airline of his choice should he decide to visit America, to convince Nigerians that he is not a persona non grata to the biggest democracy in the world.

This is coming as the PDP continued to bask in the euphoria of the United States of America travel visa said to have been issued to Atiku.

The group in a statement by its national coordinator, Vincent Ubah, said: “In making this offer, the NATBuhariOsinbajo is not unaware that Atiku, though, stupendously and inexplicably rich could be conserving his funds to, in his characteristics manner, attempt to buy as many votes as possible on election day.

“However, this offer to him has become necessary to ensure that only persons who are not subject of corrupt enrichment and/or FBI investigations offers themselves for highest office in Nigeria, as Nigerians cannot afford to have the nation ridiculed in international and global meetings and gatherings of presidents where Nigeria’s leader could be picked up or issued arrest warrant.”

Politics / ‘jubril Of Sudan’: Buhari Has Put His Enemies To Shame, Says Group by poscabafash: 10:33am On Dec 04, 2018
A group known as the Social Reformer Congress has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for clearing the air on the report that he was cloned.

Buhari, who has been silent on the allegation since it surfaced last year, spoke on it at a meeting with some Nigerians in Poland on Sunday.

The president had said his opponents were behind the rumours.

In a statement on Monday, the group said by that singular act, Buhari has put his traducers to shame.

Ada-Obi Mbakwe, executive director of the group, blamed nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), of being behind the allegation.

“Ordinarily, fake news that run contrary to common sense and logic like the cloning story are undeserving of any response but speaking to counter the lies is another testimony to President Buhari’s humility and credential as a man that is in tune with the mood of the nation he is presiding over,” he said.

“It is of note that rather than diminish the stature of President Buhari, the lie about his being cloned has rather increased goodwill for him with even the international media reporting his response in a way that exposed and confirmed the limited reasoning of those that were promoting the story.

“The expectation from right thinking Nigerians is that merchants of the fake news will now relent since their lies have been exposed, which Mr. President has magnanimously reacted to with the calmness of a leader and a man that has nothing to hide. But for the need to maintain the spirit of reconciliation the appropriate thing would have been to task the arrowheads of the fake news with the burden of proof since they might be connected with the ill health that troubled President Buhari at some point.

“Knowing that those that publicized this fake news are desperate to derail the ongoing reforms that is returning Nigeria to Nigerians under President Buhari, citizens should be on the lookout for the next mischief they will come up with. Nigerians should do this bearing in mind that these characters are pathological liars that have gotten to the pitiable level of believing their own lies irrespective of how absurd such lies sound.

“Now that Mr. President has dispelled the falsehood about his being cloned, the Social Reformer Congress wishes him a Happy Birthday in advance. We pray that God continues to increase his wisdom to pilot the affairs of our nation and protect him against any evil conclaves convene to cut short his assignment for our dear nation.”

Politics / ‘3 Years Of APC Better Than 16 Years Of PDP‘ by poscabafash: 8:21am On Dec 02, 2018
The Senator representing Lagos West at the Nigerian National Assembly, Sen. Olamilekan Adeola on Saturday urged Nigerians to reject the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, saying the party has nothing to offer the country.

Speaking with journalists at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Ikeja, Adeola said the PDP lacked the vision to govern the country.

He noted that the 16 years of PDP in power was a waste as they did little or nothing to improve the lots of Nigerians.

Adeola said the All Progressives Congress (APC) had put the country on the path of progress in the last few years, and would achieve much more in 2019.

“Nigerians should reject the PDP in 2019; they have nothing to offer. They were in power for 16years and they achieved nothing.

“In fact, the three years of the APC administration are better than the years of PDP in power. It was 16 wasted years. PDP is a failure, they should be rejected,” he said.

The senator said one particular step that pointed to what he called the ineptitude of the PDP was the way they privatised the power sector.

Adeola alleged that the PDP sold power assets to friends and fronts all in the name of privatisation.

He said the hangover of the problem was still with the country till date.

The senator said electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) foisted on the country had done little to add value to the power sector, and Nigeria would be better with replacements.

Adeola said he had acquitted himself remarkably well as senator representing Lagos West.

He said his emergence in the primaries of APC to represent the zone again in 2019 reflected the confidence party men and the people had in him.

Adeola said he had organised many empowerment programmes and executed many projects that had touched the lives of residents.

He listed some of the programmes as the distribution of 500 UTME forms to school leavers, granting University scholarships to 56 students, and the facilitation of entrepreneurship training for 600 youths.

Adeola said he had also facilitated tens of employments for graduates and other young people in the Federal civil service.

“In the area of infrastructure development of our district in assisting and complementing the efforts of Lagos State and Federal Government, I donated 10 500 KVA transformers to a community in each of the 10 LGAs that make up Lagos West,” he said.

AdeoIa said he also facilitated the rehabilitation of Baale Olodi Apapa Road(Boundary-Berger-Suya-Kirikiri Bridge) and had sunk 28 boreholes spread across 28 Local Council Development Areas of the district.

“I also donated several 18-seater Toyota buses to Lagos West stakeholders including Obas, the Council of Baales, CDC, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), LASU student Union, the league of Imams, among others,” he said.

Adeola said he was one of the active voices in the Senate, having sponsored so many important bills and contributed to the passage of others.

The senator promised to achieve much more in the upper chamber in 2019, if reelected, urging his constituents to give him the needed support.

Politics / Buhari Can’t Be Stampeded Into Signing Electoral Act Amendment Bill – Senate Lea by poscabafash: 5:00pm On Nov 30, 2018
The Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan on Friday said that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot be stampeded into signing the 2018 Electoral Act Amendment bill into law.

Before the latest version was submitted to the Presidency, the President had withheld his assent to the document about three times due to ‘errors’ in the amended bill.

With the 2019 general elections fast approaching, it is feared that the 2018 Electoral Act Amendment bill may not meet the stipulated time if not urgently signed into law by the President.

But speaking with State House correspondents after jumaat prayer at the Presidential Villa on Friday, Lawan advised that the President should take his time to study the document to avoid errors.

According to him, the amended 2006 Electoral Act can still be used for the 2019 general elections.

If properly implemented, he said that the 2006 Electoral Act can even deliver a more transparent, free and fair elections in 2019 than what was experienced in 2015.

“The President is willing to sign the bill provided it meets certain conditions that will make our electoral processes better. I believe the President is studying this bill.” he stated

According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari has signed more bills than any previous President in this country.

The Federal Government has reacted to those claiming that President Muhammadu Buhari was cloned.

It described such talk as idiotic and that such people peddling the rumour were not worthy of getting government reaction.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said these in an interview with journalists in Abuja on Thursday.

His response followed questions that the Federal Government should clear the air on the allegation.
Recall that there were insinuations that the President was cloned and that the man who is presiding over the affairs of the country is one Jibrin from either Sudan or Chad.

The rumour followed the miraculous recovery of the President when he was sick about two years ago.
Mohammed said, “It is idiotic to say the President is cloned. I don’t see any serious government responding to that.

“So, the same Jibrin that was cloned from Sudan or Chad is in Chad now? Isn’t that stupid?
“They even said he is from Chad. Yet, the same President is in Chad as we speak.

The same Jibrin is remembering what the President did while in Petroleum Trust Fund and he is also remembering what he did when he was head of state between 1983 and 1985.

“All the ministers do not know who is before them when they attend the Federal Executive Council meeting? The President remembers memos he had seen or heard about in 1985 and we say he is cloned.

“So, Jibril from Chad or Sudan will now remember all of these? It is too silly for the government to respond to this. It must be ignored.”

Politics / I Am Pleased To Make Increase In Police Salary, Allowance – Buhari by poscabafash: 11:42am On Nov 27, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari Monday assured the Nigeria police that his administration will continue to give attention to both their welfare and their operational needs with a view to restoring its lost primacy in the internal security framework of the country.

The President gave the assurance when he granted audience to members of the Nigeria Police Service Commission and the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force at the Presidential Villa.

The visitors were on a “Thank You” visit following Buhari’s approval of Rank Salary Structure Adjustment, by which salary, allowances and pension of policemen will be increased. President Buhari, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, regretted that the inability of the police in their constitutional role as the frontline force in the prevention of crime, had led to military involvement in the maintenance of law and order throughout the country.

He said, “From Taraba to Sokoto, to the South-South, people don’t feel secure until they see the military. I am pleased to make the increase in salary and allowances in the hope that it will increase the performance index of the police and strengthen Nigeria’s internal security system.”

He observed that the more efficient the police is, the more confident the government and citizens will be. According to him, “The military should be reserved for higher tasks. The police should be able to cope well with the challenges of armed robbery, kidnapping for ransom and such crimes. In every town and village, there is the presence of the police.

“From all these places, they should be able to forward first class intelligence to you on which to act. “There is a need to amplify the question of more men of the police, especially given the condition we are in – emergency in the North-East, pervasive insecurity and abduction for ransom and banditry in many parts of the country.

“I congratulate you on the success you recorded against criminals taxing people and stopping them from their farms. We are expecting more from you,” the President told the police.” Full-time Commissioner in the Nigeria Police Service Commission, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi (rtd), who represented the chairman, Musiliu Smith, had informed the President that the Rank Salary Structure Adjustment would enhance police welfare and morale.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, also assured that the police would redouble efforts to ensure free, fair and credible elections throughout the country next year. Speaking with State House correspondents on the forthcoming elections at the end of the meeting, the IGP said, “We are ready; we have gone round the country; we have conducted several bye-elections which obviously prepared us to face the main challenge next.

“I am assuring all Nigerians that we are going to do our best in ensuring that we have a free and credible election next year. “Obviously, we have the equipment but if we can get more, we will appreciate it.” On the welfare of the Police Force, he said that he was excited with the whole commitment and efforts aimed at improving not only the salary but the training of the Nigeria Police Force. He also said that he was expecting more dedication and loyalty to government and people of Nigeria from the officers and men of the Nigeria Police.

Also Justice Clara Ogunbiyi said that the welfare of Nigeria Police needed to be enhanced because the idea of security had become critical. Policemen, she said, should be encouraged as the entire populace will like to see them perform maximally.

She said, “We are here on behalf of the PSC to appreciate the President Muhammadu Buhari for seeing it to enhance the welfare of Nigeria Police. “To enhance in their emolument generally and to see that things are improved not only in terms of salaries and allowances but also seeing that infrastructure is improved; their working conditions, training expected of the police.

“In our recent retreat; we were in Enugu and we saw that a lot of the training facilities are in deplorable condition. “We will want to see that our policemen are properly trained; and our police will be able to match up with any police force anywhere in the world, “This is one the reasons why we think we need to encourage the government to do that and the president is doing same in the right direction,’’ she said.
