It's sad that the EFCC would reduce themself to this level. The said NAF personnels went to an eatery in Barnawa to eat , few hours later they received an alert of 60k which wasn't part of their bill, so they went back to storm the eatery to ask why they should receive a debit alert they didn't do transaction with. They later found out that the person in charge of the POS had a picture of their ATM card in his phone. Meaning the NAF guys were defrauded instead . EFCC wa invited to the scene where they assaulted the NAF guys and took them into their custody.

NAF came to secure the release of their personnel only for EFCC to invite other security agencies .

Truth is that this is one of the dangers of a one sided reportage.

But issues involving military peronnel and crime has never been handled by the civil criminal justice system and this is not just in this country.

The military has its own law enforcement departments which the EFCC should have worked with from the start of investigation.

If the individuals are then found guilty they can only be handed over after being dismissed from service.

The normal thing is to investigate first. Detention for interrogation is at the point of sufficient evidence to warrant such.

You just don't go about arresting military personnel and by so doing pulling them out of duty without the knowledge of their service. The implications are serious.

However the manner the Airforce acted is abysmal to say the least. And it is regretful that after 24 years of continual democratic governance they have not evolved mechanisms to save us from this kind of unsavoury drama.

Are you aware that the Constitution bars any agency from detaining a Nigerian for more than 24 hours without charging him to Court?

Thumbs up for cowardice?? If they are civilians, EFCC will detain them indefinitely which is a violation of the Nigerian constitution. You are not supposed to detain anyone for more than 24 hours without charging them to Court.
That means that you should do your investigation and have evidence of wrong doing before you arrest. But the fools will arrest first before investigation.
