agbademo: Then that amount will buy you a plot of land in a good location, only the rich can afford it.... my dad bought his 404 Peugeot for #3,500 then, that sum was deducted from his salary for about 12years.... Nigeria was very good then but the amount was not easy to comeby. That is how it is supposed to be. Nigeria was a normal society then. Today, everyone's eyes are open and majority are criminals. |

Feldie: everyone? Are you seeing things? People in most towns and villages would troop out to watch tortoise car roll by as if it were some alien tech. How many people had cars in an entire town back then? Back then, when you buy a motorcycle, people gathered to celebrate it with alcoholic drinks. But Nigeria was a normal society then, with people generally living within their means. |

Originalsly: Firing a minister should be the first step. Investigation ... prosecution and imprisonment should be following to begin making a dent in the corrupt mindset and practices of those in charge. Until then .... next person comes in and do same until caught... then disappears from the limelight to enjoy the fruits of their corruption. Wow! So you will fire a Minister first before investigation? So what if your investigation shows that the Minister is innocent? |

BloomingDale: Can you summarize the Aburi Accord? Summary of the Aburi Accord is that Nigeria should run a confederal system. Much like what you have in Canada or Switzerland. Basically a decentralised governance system. Don't be a typical Nigerian ( tribalistic, insincere, and runs away from reality). |

TimeManager: What business do we have with Aburi?, is Aburi a place in Nigeria?. Anything that's not agreed upon on Nigerian soil is total rubbish. Aburi was between two military men, 1999 constitution is also a military document. 1960 constitution is the people's document, unfortunately, some people carried out a coup, gave way to mllitary regime in Nigeria and threw away the people's constitution. Same people who should be asking Nigerians for forgiveness are still talking about a toilet paper called Aburi.
Typical Nigerian. Fools in denial. I hope you are not one of those that are doing Japa.

Well said. The problem is that whoever finds himself in power will not want to restructure because they will lose power and money. Also the core Northern elites will never support restructuring because the present Unitary system favors them. Nigeria will never progress without restructuring. It will eventually disintegrate. Without restructuring, Tinubu will just waste another 4 years or 8. |

We can't be sending troops on foreign missions while terrorists and bandits hold our people spell bound in Nigeria, no sense atal in that. If need be, invite foreign intelligence to assist with security. Security and safety first before you can start talking about economy and whatnot. Let's use our brain. Ribadu is clueless. |

wonder233: There is a Navy Lieutenant Commander I know. All he does is car importation business and shortlet rentals. He is short, overweight and has zero interest in the security dayjob the government wastes taxpayers money on him for. This is just a mid ranking officer (equivalent of Major in the army) already useless and merely using the military as an enabler for his private business, then you now talk of those stinkingly corrupt, obese and worthless Generals, Admirals and Marshalls. On the lower end of the ladder, the foot soldiers too are doing kidnappings and robbery as their own side hustles. What about the citizens who are the unfortunate victims of this sleaze? When they get the opportunity to make a change to the entire system via the ballot, they all of a sudden remember with so much passion what tribes they are and what religions they adhere to... Hence the vicious cycle continues... Well said. |

Princedapace: What is wrong is that a country with multi ethnic nationalies cant run a unitary security system. This is wrong, Nigeria will continue to bleed because all her problem even from the first civil war has been about ethnic issue. Why cant we just accept this? We can still live as one country but allow regions have total control of their security, borders, etc. This way, they can manage their security by them selves. The current security system has been compromised due to ethnic intetested. It is deep. Nigeria is finished. Make una continue to be dragging ethnic pride of na my ethnic person dey rule. This guy who was kidnapped, his tribe is ruling Nigeria. This means that it doesnt matter whose tribe is ruling. Nigeria has a fualty system. It is too large to be managed by a centralized security and government system. Everything comes from Abuja as long as economy, and security is concerned. This is wrong. Security should be decentralized down to the smallest village and let them handle sophiscated weapons and not the useless weapons u give to vigillantee. Omo, It is a pity that the masses will continue to pay for this until the masses them selves rise up to demand an end to the current system of govt which pays only thhe ruling class. We are all cowards. Well said. |

aylipple: I don't see Betta Edu bouncing back from this scandal. There are those who ab initio felt greatly sored that she gave testimony at Shiloh over her appointment as Minister under PBAT administration. That bloc was already lurking in the shadows, daggers drawn & waiting for her slip; this NSIPA matter has given this group of her detractors the opportunity they'd been waiting for all along. When you combine this bloc with those who have started giving the entire matter an ethnic coloration (what's sauce for the NSIPA lady should be sauce for Edu, they argue), it becomes a combobulation of loud voices seeking her ouster. Going.... Going.... Gone... She's obviously a thief. I believe she knows it is illegal to pay public money into private account but thought she could get away with it. |
