My neighbor’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law came 11pm at night for sleep over visit, mind you they only leave 30minutes away . After welcoming them and entertaining them, everyone went to sleep only for her to wake up around 6am to find the sis in-law in the kitchen washing out their pot of stew they had for dinner ,with over 20 pieces of meat in a nylon bag. When she asked why her day old soup was thrown away , the in-law said they don’t like the way the stew looks , and they are taking the meat from the stew to feed their dog when they leave. :

My sister in-law is currently staying with me now, very rude and always be mumoring to me, cook food in the house this girl will come back from work in the night and start frying pepper in the kitchen disturbing my sleep, what pains my most is the idea that she keep following area buys around my neighborhood last two weeks a dirty looking boy came and nearly knock on my door looking for her, my wife is aware of her sister way ward lifestyle yet will not confront her . I will not send her away to avoid being term as intolerant. I am just waiting for the day she will pack her load and leave.

Its is ideal to say thanks you/please when people do something for us or when requesting for help.

The manner he said the food should be cover sound authoritative and no appreciation. How can ur friends wife dish food for u and u dictate for it to be covered without showing courtesy.

Some little things like this matters alot and goes a long way but many take it for granted like it doesn't matter.

Even if truly busy, One thing thats certain is that he isn't a "thank you or please" saying person. If not he would have at least said i am busy, please help cover the food.

the day a female friend came to my house and visit me for the first time I regret inviting her.,she came with a big bag thinking she's going to the market, when she enter my house and told me she wants to drink water and she followed me to my kitchen,view the kitchen perfectly.
I gave her rice to eat and I went out to buy coke for her but before I came back she carry 3mudu of rice,beans,salt, maggie, Onion, sachet milk and bouvita, spaghetti and when I enter my house she told me she wants to go. I was like just too soon. when I went to my wallet to give her money for tfair I saw 2k which didn't belong to me before I call her to wait for me oboy she don enter bike go say she de in hurry. when I enter my kitchen oboy all my food stuff don empty. I used that 2k to replace those things she took from me.

7. 20 minutes later, she called me aside and asked if she and her friend could use my room
8. It didn't end well for me that day

A guest has no right to dictate what he wants, if what he is being offered isn't something he appreciates. He should decline it with courtesy and not make the host feel he did less of himself. He offered what he had, the guy could have simply said "oh thank you i am fine, i would prefer water"

But he had entitlement spirit, demanding for something else. Its wrong. Its people like him that wont even offer you anything when you visit them. Poor mannered fellow.

I stay in an estate where no shop is situated, and you can't even take a stroll to say you want to go buy something, you have to drive out to shoprite cos its nearby, so unexpected person come visit i should now go out to get what to entertain with? NA, i would give whats at home. . I dont even take soft drink so you cant find any in my freezer. Na only food, water and smoothie/fruits you can see there.

So the best you can get na bottle water. Chikena

My elder brother had this same sort of friend back then, always coming to chill with is and all that but upon all, there wasn't a complain. He will sleep over, eat , even demand more et al. Our upbringing, we don't really care everyone is welcomed.

A friend wanted to charge his laptop at my place as he had no power, we were about to have lunch when he entered. He connected the laptop and was using it. My wife dished a plate of food to serve him.

He rudely told her without even looking up from his laptop "cover it and keep, I'm busy now. I'll eat later"

I was angry but said nothing. I resolved once he left, he would never step foot in my house again My wife took the food to the kitchen.

After we finished eating and my wife was taking a nap, the idiot called me and said I should tell my wife to bring the food that wants to eat now. I nearly slap am.... I walked him out told him not to return to my house again.

Living in the U.S for many years made me understand how to compare the 2 cultural difference between grown up in Nigeria and living my adult life in the U.S. Nigerians try not to offend friends and relatives and they would rather put up nonsense. Americans on the other hand don't care who you are. Say it like it is, we really practice freedom of speech in the U.S, but in Nigeria, our culture makes us look and sound dumb sometimes.
