Most Nigerians preferred local artist because NBC did a great job. This same reason why there is a fight between some Camorounian artist and Nigerians on social media.
NBC doesn't define your taste in music

People like Nigeria music because they can relate to them

You want to party, you need Nigeria music, this is why it sells, you need to know what's up in the street of Nigeria the music tells you

This is not because of some NBC crap

Same people can tell you what songs just came out from foreign artist now and who tops billboard, if NBC policy was to restrict Nigeria to foreign music they can't

This argument is stale

I don't like Lai Mohammed for anything, but I think he has a point. If we must grow in this country, we must protect our own. This is a nice way of compelling these companies to produce their ads in Nigeria and help the local media and creative industry grow. Do you know how much Dangote, Zenith, glo and Access Bank spend to run ads and sponsor programmes on CNN?

Again, Lai Mohammed didn't ask them to stop advertising, however, he wants to encourage the local content development industry to grow. That's why he made it clear that the fines will go to local content development. "The half a million will go to the Content Development Fund.”

You see, Nigerian films are some of the most seen in Africa and elsewhere in the world because we like it. Nigerian music displaced American hip hop and R&B in Nigeria's clubs, parties and radio stations because the former administration enacted and implemented local content laws. Today, Nigerian music has grown to the level of winning Grammy awards.

My point is, we need to encourage local content development as a way of strengthening our country and creating jobs. However, other sectors have to follow suit, including the health and education sectors to end medical tourism and overseas education respectfully. While at it, they must improve our system significantly.
encourage local content indeed. don't we have competent doctors and nurses in Nigeria to check buharis airdrums? the other time, Aisha flew to Dubai to get paracetamol. why are these hypos forcing tasteless short grains down our throats when they cannot take the same?

Nigerians are a bunch of uninformed people.
You’ll see people criticizing this move, yet do not have a single suggestion to bring the result this policy aims at achieving. I’m fed up with y’all.

So what about supersport and mnet?
How come they are available in Nigeria and have strictly foreign content?
Money and super sports are on terrestrial broadcast moreover many Nigerians don't watch them.

Some people are picking against this simply because it's coming from Lia Mohammed...

Before u rush to disagree, reflect on what he just said, then you'll appreciate it... How can you develop a product for the Nigerian market, but go to US to create ad... There's so much sense in what he just said.

Bros you are a legend. FG should pay health sector for not doing check up in nigeria but chose to pay UK...

Lair Mohammed is a f**king F**l

]Mohammed argued that until the anti-competitive and monopolistic tendencies are expunged from the broadcast sector, Nigeria would not be able to grow local content.

But the mannequin is investing in UK's health system, how is he growing local content?
Imagine telling us that the President is going for medical check-up in London.
Which check dem no fit check am for Nigeria.

You are the one who is uninformed. There's no problem to begin with so what's the point of the solution being touted. Has BON which is the umbrella body for broadcasters come out to complain of unfair competition with foreign channels?
Do you realise ait, channels and co also exist in the UK, US and get revenue from running ads there which actually impacts their revenue more positively than the Nigerian market does for CNN?
If CNN and co go back to their parent countries too and request for same policy, who will be affected more?
Same way the visa fee was handled until the US enacted same policy and Nigeria had to beat a hasty, embarrassing retreat.
Lastly, under what laws can the minister fine Guinness and Pepsi or even CNN? He's just playing to the gallery. Simple
If you don't understand issues, try to educate yourself.

Of course I support breaking the monopoly. That's where he has power and can actually do something. Problem is, he's over five years on that seat and hasn't made any move in that regard. Only wants to control what he has no power over.

The funny thing is that the policy is targeted at CNN.
what concerns epl with CNN? How many Nigeria brands advertise on CNN? The mix up is to make people not to suspect that lai is trying an underground war with CNN.

Bulk of Nigeria brands advertise in supersports than in CNN.... why do he keep repeating CNN?

Hahhaahhs Nigeria don pickup from WAEC. In fact, WAEC is surcharging Schools a whopping N100,000 as penalty for late upload of CASS. Imagine the money WAEC makes from the fine alone. Still, a charge of N13,950 is paid per candidate ad exam fees. In addition to a N5,000 charge per correction of data.

What baffles me is that the Principals are paying with zest and our government do not care to ask a question.

Do we actually have a government?
Don’t say what you don’t know, if WAEC don’t charge 100k as penalty for late upload of CASS do you think candidates will write and get their results on time. If you see the nonchalant attitude displayed by some schools, they act like people are not working with time and end up putting pressure on WAEC workers. At least schools will seat up....As for correction of data, do you know that Federal government charge 15000 for change of age on NINhuh What do you know sef

Well, refute it with facts. Go into villages. You'll see only one TV which is being used to watch epl and champions league.
And FYI go and find out what terrestrial TV is as opposed to satellite TV so you can know the difference.
It's obvious you don't know what you're arguing on.

For every trip Buhari makes to UK for medical, the presidency must pay a fine of 50% the total cost of the trip to a local hospital here in Nigeria, what is good for the goose is good or the gander.

Yeye people running this country.
