There is a high possibility he did not bypass, cos if the meter is faulty and NEPA themselves came to rectify, they will take out the meter, bypass the light themselves and give him a document specifying, the meter is faulty and they are working on it... It happened to me, so if you go and report, NEPA do gra gra come, landlord present document, NEPA waka go, remain snitch and landlord, just know u own have B for the remaining days, weeks, or month in that house...
Re: I Want To Report My Landlord For Bypassing Our Electricity Meter by Simple99: 8:28am On May 10, 2021
[Remember the landlord is collecting their money in the name of NEPA bill while they are using free light] Since you are about to pack out of the house, just leave him alone. Don't cause trouble for yourself man[/quote]

So I discovered that my landlord bypassed his meter because our light git spoilt and I was trying to fix it. This is the same man that you cannot owe light bill. I had a disagreement with him so he already gave me quit notice. Are you a registered electrician, that you're operating electricity in someone's property
Re: I Want To Report My Landlord For Bypassing Our Electricity Meter by samuelonyewueny(m): 8:43am On May 10, 2021
Since you already have his quit notice, when you leave and settle elsewhere, report him.
Re: I Want To Report My Landlord For Bypassing Our Electricity Meter by Ten06(m): 8:56am On May 10, 2021
Your landlord is a suspected criminal, NEPA is another group of criminals making people to pay light bill when we don't see light.

You know what? By the time you have reported him, NEPA will sort out the issue with him because they are bird of the same feathers and they will end up ganging against you and your landlord will go after you for reporting him

Hmm, IMHO, if you can report them with stealth, do so, or else remain silent for the rest of the days...

You never can tell if they would rat you out to him, but if you are to fulfil all righteousness, you'd report him and let him know you did, then it may become a royal rumble, and cause ripple effects.

Report him for the following reasons:
1. It is right thing to do
2. He and his likes are the major contributor to our bad electricity supply issue in Nigeria
3. Innocent people tend to make up the difference, by way of estimated billing and higher tariff charges, for the loss of electricity to bypass.
4. If you don't, that makes you an accomplice and although you might not be charged, you have no moral right to demand accountability from public officials or complain about epileptic power supply.

you're not doing anybody good by reporting him. If it is where u come from I'll tell you you're unnecessarily putting your life at risk. the nepa officials will tell your landlord who reported him .

Also there is electricity theft everywhere in the country, especially big production companies. Billions or even trillions get stolen every month. Even those who paid the money still get stolen by the government
Re: I Want To Report My Landlord For Bypassing Our Electricity Meter by dohyn(m): 11:07am On May 10, 2021
Believe me, they know that you are bypassing the meter.
I travelled and came back to see that my tenants had tampered with the meter. I sent IKEDC a DM on Twitter, someone responded, took my details and that was it.
No word again till 1 month later when I was called at work that Nepa officials had come to cut the light.
I rushed to their office and they showed me the evidence that I'd been using electricity for months without paying.
What saved me was the evidence on my phone that I contacted them about the matter. I still paid for the electricity that had been used during the bypass but I didn't have to pay the fine which ran into 100k or so.

In Nigeria, always learn to avoid trouble as trouble wahala and gobe are very very expensive

It's right to report Theft of Electricity and Utility services as a patriotic Nigerian.. but always remember that whatever can lead to altercation which can snow ball to Hospital or Police Station just avoid it

Least bail is 10k in most police station, least deposit a Clinic would receive before treating you is about 10k also... So avoid any wahala if you don't have Atleast 50 k to spare

Report him, he is one of the reasons why Nigeria is in this shape, he is stealing what does not belong to him and cheating others that pay for it. You can report him anonymously on 247electric app (search it on playstore)

Now, because say your landlord no dey joke about him money from your hand you won report ahm to nepa? Who tell you say NEPA official no dey bypass.
Know that you bringing wahala for yourself...you want to be the victim of your own circumstance..continue.

This same bad attitude of “he nor concern me”has placed Nigeria in the bad situation it is today. The most annoying thing is that we Nigerians will be asking ourselves how did we get here. The answer to that question is that we got here because most of us are always scared to speak up or do what is right because of the fear of the unknown

Why don't you just leave him atleast you are no more in the house, besides if you report him to the police and your landlord bribes the police to accuse you instead, then what do you do?
